Planar summoners at the Farmlands

Unread post by KOPOJIbPAKOB »

From random grinders passing by with the bunches of angels to people openly summoning planars and roleplaying it like "I summoned that and so what, your actions?" — stop doing that please! I suggest you taking a look at this thread:
Summons of all other means, such be it undead or planar in nature, shall result in banishment or death of the summoner, as determined by judicial ruling.
While what we see right now is that people are making this serious law violation a part of their RP and treat it like that's not a big deal! I've seen this nonsense so many times — a person godmods the guards by summoning a planar and then after roleplaying an edgy summoner a bit gets bored and walks away with that (instead of being executed or banished as SUPPOSED). And you can't do absolutely nothing to these people from the IC perspective!

To all Farmlands planar summoners: Stop ruining the immersion of others by your godmodding, I'll be reporting such cases because I'm tired of that Edited by Hawke for Rule #5.

To all who witness it: Stop treating it as a normal thing that happens everyday, planar summoning is a serious law violation at the Duchal lands, and arguments such as "But it's an angel, it's sooooo pure and holy" don't work here — it's still a powerful armed outsider.

Not to mention how you're wasting the time of a powerful planar being for chitchat around what amounts to a beggar's trash can fire (can't really call it a campfire - it's 100 meters away from the gates of a city).

You shouldn't bring this kind of thing to the forums in an OOC manner. Handle it all IC and in game. This is a perfect opportunity for RP. Start placing posters. Gather followers to your cause. take it to the Dukes. The possibilities are endless.

Once you bring it here.. All that dies. So sad. :(

"I'll be reporting such cases because I'm tired of that Edited by Hawke for Rule #5."

That is one way to handle it. Another way to handle it is IC'ly. In both RL and gaming I -really- dislike the 'run to the police' mentality that is starting to overtake our society. It stinks of infantilism, lack of maturity, and general cowardice which is the way society is currently devolving unfortunately.

It is the first reaction of everyone these days and it leaves a really bad taste in my mouth for more reasons than I care to list here. So talk to the summoner IC, make them aware of the issue, and act accordingly afterwards.

If they tell you to pound sand or ignore you, then NEXT time banish / dismiss / slay the creature yourself as you gave fair warning. If they ignore you again, then the summoner himself should be eating dirt every single time he / she / it decides to act like a boorish ass repeatedly breaking the rules.

I can promise you that the vast majority of people will side with you so if that character's name gets out their life will become 'unpleasant' and peer feedback will accomplish the same goal.

I suppose an argument could be made that since it is clearly a rule violation the 'police' should be involved but my libertarian sensibilities recoil at the idea entirely. *shrug*

Thank you! Glad to see that someone else abhors the "quick daddy, principal, police, gub'mint come savvvvvvveeee meeeeee, rheeeee!" principle. *hat tip*

Planar summoners are DIRECTLY godmodding the guard npcs, because those npc would've asked them to immediately unsummon their planars (and it's in the best case) if were controlled by DMs. And yes, I tried to handle such situations ICly, and all I got is even bigger nonsense when summoner sincerely refuses to believe he's doing something wrong while the spectators' rhetorics sound like "Lol chill here, it's just an angel come on", and all this while the guards are watching. There is no way to handle it ICly as long as the second party doesn't care about IC rules.

3. If you have an issue with any other player or member of the staff OOC or ICly, do not post about it on the forums, instead use personal messages to solve it.
I am, however, going to leave this thread visible (albeit locked) as it does offer a needed critique of this issue.
