Training with Aesa is hard. But at least she hasn't punched me in the gut again. I'm still afraid she's going to do that at some point.

Turns out swords aren't meant for hacking; hacking is for axes. With swords, you actually want to slice, and use LESS energy. Each cut should be accomplishing something. So that is a lot like how those battle magic books talk about conserving your magic and making sure each spell accomplishes something important.

And yesterday Aesa had me practicing footwork. It's kind of like how to keep your balance in a Grease spell. Like, making sure you don't fall over.

It's pretty hard work, but maybe one day I can be like that spellsword I saw at the arena. And even if I don't have what it takes, at least I'll be able to better defend myself in places where magic is illegal (looking at you, Amn).

And maybe I'll have a nicer body for Flora!
