Warlock who worships Shar
I have a stabby sneaky half-elf warlock who worships Shar and likes shadows
Im wondering who or what said warlock might be pacted to? What could the possibilities be? A shadow demon of Shar? A fey affiliated to Shar?
Any thoughts and suggestions would be great.

Re: Warlock of Shar?
There is little lore around shadowfell warlocks. They exist as a part of FR books (Draygo Quick and Effron Alegni), but this occurred during 4e books and there is little detail as to who or what they are pacted to. Effron trained under Draygo and was taught the secrets of the Feywild, so they are Fey-pacted warlocks, but not sure to what. During our timeline the Shadowfell/Shadovar are unknown so not sure this helps you, but I would say to look for a named Shadow Demon of some kind and you could assume that is your pact? Otherwise, you could separate the faith (Shar) from the pact. FR lore makes it possible to have a warlock pact separate from faith so that's always an option.

Re: Warlock of Shar?
Queen of Air and Darkness would work pretty well.
Chaotic Evil Unseelie Archfey (or whatever those are called in 3E/2E).
Her portfolio includes magic, darkness and evil fey. Worshipped by evil elves.

Re: Warlock of Shar?
I doubt you'll find any named demons connected to Shar. Demonkin and gods rarely interact.

Re: Warlock of Shar?
ive not suggested a warlock pact with SharAriexedes wrote:as well as roughly my understanding you can't 'pact' with gods them self.
Shar is a Greater Deity and as such has 'millions' of followers on Faerun? So i doubt 'most' of her followers can be wizards, clerics and monks? Any greater deity will have worshippers from all walks of life - commoners, merchants, warriors? According to Faiths and Pantheons (if that is current lore) she is popular with blind people and with 'all who favor the dark or who do their business at night (such as cutthroats and thieves) curry her favor, as do many whose deranged world views might be interpreted as insanity.'Ariexedes wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe most of the shar follows are wiz / cleric / monks, this has come up before about a warlock, simply put they are very very very rare to none existent. She is selfish, and wouldn't cooperate with outside powers. though they would be called shadowcasters , but what little I can find they are their own actual class and mostly 5e and 3.5 I would suggest maybe pming the ' memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=10498 ' member about clarifications and better understanding. you'll notice that people will greatly defend this on the server she's heavy lore-driven, so just forewarn.
maybe this can help![]()

My toon is also a Phantom so Shar seems like quite a reasonable choice
In the link you've posted it does list Shadowcasters as being Shar followers with Warlock levels so it doesnt sound that rare?

Re: Warlock of Shar?
Play whatever you want Max as long as it isn't 4th wall breaking. You are 100% on point that millions would worship a particular deity but don't have to be clerics, etc. In fact the VAST majority would be so as you pointed out. The confusion I think was that people interpreted you are PACTED w/ Shar which isn't the case.
You could have a very fanatical farmer peasant who grew mushrooms and worshiped Shar because he needs darkness for his 'crop'. Whatever, I could think of a dozen others like that off the top of my head.
I also think a Shadow Demon is viable but you could just as easily go grab some lore based outsiders that are affiliated with darkness or the shadow plane.

Rhyxali fits the theme, but as mentioned: demons and deities usually don't cooperate. That doesn't mean that your character can't be pacted to the one and venerate the other though.

Dendar the Night Serpent came first and foremost to my mind as a suitable match. An ancient primordial who feeds on nightmares (forgetfulness) and is a harbinger of the end of the world (oblivion) Very Sharran doctrines, those.
