Add Lore:Arcana to Dragon Warrior

The Dragon Warrior has all lore skills as class skills, except for Lore:Arcana. I find this odd, since Lore:Arcana covers dragons. I suggest that the skill be made a class skill for the Dragon Warrior.

It has been pointed out to me that it is probably an oversight that the skill isn't a class skill in the first place, so if it's more appropriate to switch this thread to the bug section, forum moderators should feel free to do so

I would certainly agree they should have lore:arcana since it is a requirement to qualify for the PRC. However, I do not believe they should get all lore skills as they are not a Bard or the like. I can't find a non-homebrew version of the PRC in a quick google search so if anyone knows the proper knowledge skills we could translate that to the appropriate lore skills. As a guess I would say Lore: Arcana, Religion, Local all make sense for the PRC.

I couldn't find this PRC in any source books I have (that could be searched in). Only reference is to a Dragon Magazine but the class features are much more eastern. Is it just pure homebrew then from the start?

Hard to say as it's been on the server longer than I have. If I had to guess I would say it was part of the Kaedrin PRC's that were implemented at some point. That being the case I would say we could give it whatever lore skills we want...the difficulty of course being all those who already have Dragon Warriors essentially having invalid builds for skills they have and shouldn't or should have but don't. Since it's 'only' lore skills the impact is of course limited in either case.

It's Kaedrin homebrew and then modified for the server.

Lore: Arcana makes good sense to me. Don't you also need ranks in Lore: Arcana to even take the class in the first place?

Actually, the class is present in 3.5 D&D splatbook work. It comes from Miniatures Handbook:


As you can see, it's named Dragon Samurai, which means that Glowfire is right in it being of Eastern Origins. It is also true that the PRC was modified mechanically and with the lore (though I'm not certain on that point, so take it with a grain of salt) of the class in order to better suit the server. It's not completely homebrew, however, and never was. It's just one of those hard to find PRCs that are hidden in one of numerous splatbooks of Wizards of the Coast.
