Speech Dots Feedback
I'm curious to hear what people think of the new feature that shows you when another player is typing.
Love it? Hate it? Don't care?
For those who haven't been in-game yet it looks like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipRISrXujXE

Re: Speech Dots Feedback
looks okay, and is obviously useful in knowing a reply is pending etc, so all good

Re: Speech Dots Feedback
Other than showing my ridiculous type-delete-type-delete thought process, it looks handy. It will really help in those lingering goodbye situations where you aren't certain if more is coming before you walk away, and in the passing-by situations with the same issue. It may sort of make up for the loss of body language cues you'd have in real life.

I like it, it has a chance to add some level of celerity of communication.
I can also see this being useful in larger RP events too a degree.
While the dots do look silly, I will say that the pros out weigh the cons of having them than to not.

If it can be made to not work when sending Tells that would be great.
If it can't, then I'd rather not have it.

A work around to that is to use the client extender text box. Not a fix as of right now, unfortunately.
And you right, that can be confusing. I just tried it out myself.
Not everyone uses the client extender too.

Re: Speech Dots Feedback
the only issue i see here is it shows . . . during you write to send tell.
so while you are sending tell to another person, the person in front of you might think that you are writing to reply their RP.
also Whisper.

Re: Speech Dots Feedback
If you switch to the "Whisper" channel (clicking the W on the left) it will suppress the speech dots. This way you can /w to whisper, or even /t to send tells. As long as you're in the W channel the dots won't show.

Re: Speech Dots Feedback
Yeah np, I asked in the Content Creators Discord about a method to have it suppress the bubbles on any text starting with a / character, and evidently it's possible. I'm just waiting on feedback from them on exactly how it works on the UI end so I can implement the code.

Re: Speech Dots Feedback
I really don't like the speech dots. That they still show up when someone is using /t or /w to type a tell is a minor detail. I wish they would go away. They break immersion, but really they're just obnoxious and distracting, and I don't want people to know when I'm typing.
Failing that, at least give us a toggle so that we can turn our dots off if we want to.

Re: Speech Dots Feedback
I would prefer the ability to opt in or out of the speech dots, if this is possible. While it is a useful tool and I don't want it taken away from the people that enjoy the feature, I echo Rekov's sentiment that it's an immersion breaker for me.

I'm behind this as a reason for the dots not breaking immersion but aiding in it.Planehopper wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 8:27 am It may sort of make up for the loss of body language cues you'd have in real life.
