It also has a lot to do with UD characters able to run Surface Quests. I always see UD characters running in and out of Maltz's store.CrispyWalrus wrote:It's actually more the problem of linking the surface and underdark to be player traversable. Still!?!?! I've already warned against this! If I catch any UD characters doing Maltz's quest, I'm docking exp and sending the players to a nice place for a proper dressing-down.c2k wrote:It also has a lot to do with UD characters able to run Surface Quests. A merchant like Maltz isn't going to risk the death penalty, just to do business with a drow. He would even ask fully-helmed customers to doff their helmets, while in his shop.

Looks like I'll make Malt's shop my new post Sir!
*runs off to clear the shop of all the grey orc, drow, and other filth that are in the shop. He also arrests Malts for dealing with such creatures*
*malts shop is now Khaumul's emporium*

If anybody sees a Drow doing the Maltz quest, feel free to get some screenshots and send them to us. We'll send out the Maltz Hit Squad with Level Draining Clubs of Sapping.

Re: Metagaming: Rules should exist
There is only one unwritten rule you should be aware of at all time and in all places.
You, and I mean everyone. Is personaly responsable, for the individual enjoyment of everyone else you ever meet in game. If you do anything less than your level best to role play your character in an engaging way that does not damage the playing environment for others. I will take steps against you if and when I catch you, and I will.
I am sick and tired of people damanding rules and arguing their "rights.
Here is the simple, bottom line.
If we make rules for eveything, people will expect rules for everything, and eventualy NEED rules for everything.
You do not need rules to know that your behavior effects others, and that if you do not moderate your own behavior, you can expect to be censured.
Hiding behind rules as "Bounds of Abuse" is entirely unacceptable.
Players who feel they must "Win" at everything all the time, and are either unwilling to accept that they are part of a cohesive whole that requires them to accept others role playing on a level playing field, or unable to grasp this simple truth. Will find themselves at logerheads with me.
I will not restate this again.
Players will not get rules to hide behind, police your own behavior, and take responsability for what you do. Be polite, courteous and respect those sharing the playing environment, or be prepared for a much toughter disiciplinary line.
In answer to PM because apparently this is not clear enough.
If, you as a player, meta game, and in so doing, cause harm to the playing environment, I will ban you.

Rules are the Bane of DM's as Orders are the Bane of Commanders. Once you start issuing them needlessly, you cannot stop or all falls to Chaos.

That depends on the quality of your troops. If that quality is lacking, there will be casualties.

Maltz? Are you sure this has been done recently? I can't imagine that I actually missed Maltz. Guess I'll have to check. NPC quest givers on the surface should not give quests to drow.

I suppose it's okay for surfacer's to head down to Sshamath and pick up 4.2k xp doing all the UD quests?

Of course, the gods favor the surface
I really don't know, but I would think that unless it's a specific quest from a person that doesn't mind, then surfacers wouldn't be able to do UD quests

I saw a Deep Gnome do it last week. I can't say I've seen a drow do them, but I've seen the other UD races running around those quest givers.

Re: Metagaming: Rules should exist
Yes, and that is my fault. After I made it so drow can't do surface quests, I did actually mean to "surface proof" the UD quests. It sort of got back burnered. So much work to catch up on. I guess you all won't be seeing me ingame for a few days while I play catch up.
The problem really arises though where we have a few races that have an option of where to spawn, so I can't really cut some of them off from either. I will have to look for a way to do this. Will probably be sloppy until we cna get the DB in. Please bear with the staff until then.
