Jonas Rokranon, paladin of Torm, has decided at long last to join the Weave Masters. He spoke to Exarch Elias about it personally, and after returning to the Tower, Jonas was initiated as a Sentry with miss Gilandri'lith Asunluana as a witness. Shortly after, he humbly offered his service to Elias as his personal guardian. Not wishing to dishonor the memory of Elias' previous guardian and friend Keagan Wyndsoul, Jonas had spoken prior to one of Keagan's sons, Dallenthel, who did not at all seem opposed to the idea. Elias and Jonas spoke afterward for a time about personal matters, before Elias retired for the evening and Jonas left to begin his service to the guild.

Those who step into the Istari Tower next find a message written on the wall, adjacent to the locked door right of the tower's entrance. To those who accidentally step inside the tower and view the text, it appears to be simply a bunch of gibberish written using the Espurar, or Elven, script. Those who are skilled illusionists would recognize the text for what it is: illusory script

Image

Those unauthorized readers who attempt to try and read it in spite of its lack of any real meaning find themselves compelled to both forget the text was even there and to dance around in the Istari Tower lobby like a chicken for 30 minutes straight, until the spell wears off (DC 14, Will).

To those who were intended to read the message, namely Elias Goodmane and the Weave Masters who serve under him, can see the script morph as they approach the wall into a message in Common, written in violet script. It reads:

"To the Honorable Exarch, Elias Goodmane of the Weave Masters:

After talking with your fellow practitioner of the Art and friend, Guide Valerius of Candlekeep, I have decided on finding one of your number, the gnome illusionist Boddynock Namfoodle, and speaking to him about perhaps serving as his apprentice.

Unfortunately, it has been approximately a tenday since I had begun my search and I have found neither trace nor sign of Sir Namfoodle's presence. Indeed, many of your members tell me he is quite elusive, perhaps even illusive, pardon the pun.

Regardless, I believe that the Weave Masters is the organization of best-fit for me to join, as I am currently a resident of Baldur's Gate, and a life of cloistered scholasticism in Candlekeep does not particularly appeal to me a great deal. Therefore, it is my humble request that I am given a chance to meet with you formally, in person, so as to discuss what my options might be, what rights I will have as a steward of Istari Tower, and what responsibilities and obligations I will have as a part of the guild.

Reply in whatever fashion you deem, well, most fashionable and we shall speak to one another. Thank you for both your time and your patience.

Sincerely,
~ Effelin Blackley
Illusionist, Mathematician, Artificer, and Scholar"

An arcane mark, presumably the author's own, is left visible beneath the message.

Rain poured down in sheets as the mage made his way briskly though the puddled city streets. His scorched and dirty robes were pulled fast around him, and his wide brim hat was pulled low over his face to keep himself as dry as possible. His smile was hid under his hat as he approached the doors of his home, Istari Tower.

The doors rolled open with only the slightest touch, and upon entering the mage removed his hat and cloak, and nodded to the steward in the lobby smiling. It was at that moment his smile turned however as he saw a man strutting around making clucking noises.

Elias gave the steward a stern look. "I have told the apprentices before, there is to be no experimental casting anywhere near the open sections of the tower."

"But Master Goodmane, it's not the apprentices it's the writings left by another man, one who is not a member of our order. Please take care of this sir, people have been strutting around here all day!"

Slowly, and with a long sigh the Exarch approached the writing etched into Istari's wall. Before he started to read he began working a mind blank spell for the man strutting around beside him. The man came back to his wits almost immediately after the spell was cast, though he was a bit confused. He explained to Elias that he only wished to ask the Weave Masters for help in a matter concerning his Weave sensitive daughter. After having a long talk with the man about his daughter, Elias bid the man farewell and moved back to read his message.

The Exarch stood motionless for several minutes in front of the etched letters. Seemingly studying rather than reading the text. Finally, and with no hesitation the mage began chanting a powerful dispel and running his hands over the text erasing the message altogether. In it's place he left a message of his own.

Sir Blackley and other visitors to Istari,

I would have you know that our policy here at Istari is that of an open door to hear all requests and grievances. However, I find my ire a bit aroused at finding magic etched into our very walls that would harm or embarrass an innocent person. I find it irresponsible and inconsiderate, and such are not our teachings here. In fact, they are quite the opposite. Many innocent folk seek refuge within Istari's walls. These people have no defense against foul or ill used magic, hence their need of a safe-haven.

In light of recent events our lobby will be watched more closely by our cowled friends from the south. Any person seen casting such magics within our lobby will be asked to leave, and if they do not, they will be dealt with accordingly. This policy will be set in place immediately to ensure the safety of all civilians and staff currently visiting our facilities.

I trust you all will have a pleasant stay at Istari Tower, and that all of your needs have been met or questions answered.

Sincerely,
Weave Exarch Elias Goodmane

Finally the mage finished with his work, and stepped back to read the words that hummed with a faint blue glow. He smiled and nodded to the steward who seemed a bit skittish after seeing the Exarch slightly irritated.

"Well, what do you think? I promise this will not turn you into a chicken or any such nonsense."

The steward returned Elias's smile with a bit of relief. "It's wonderful Master Goodmane! As always you seem to know just the answer to our problems."

Elias chuckled at the comment. "You would be most surprised at how often the answers elude one such as myself, often I think my master would have chosen one more wise to replace him. As for now, I'm going to take my rest. Call for me if there is any need."

Encouraged by his new rank, Foggy travels the lands between the Gate and Beregost looking for possible prospects to join the ranks of the weave masters. He asks everyone he sees if they are interested to join but has no luck in finding anyone.

A bit frustrated he writes up a poster asking for people to join and uses a multiplication cantrip to make several copies, he starts to put up these posters along the most traveled roads.

A confidential letter

Unread post by Ri762 »

After Bernard finishes emptying his beer-stein he wipes his beard clean of froth.

"Ah, that was good, just what i needed"

He puts four coins on the bar and flips another one over to the barmaid. She waves as he leaves the Elfsong-Tavern.

" See you tomorrow Bernie"

The night is cold and clear. Bernard wastes no time getting to the Istari-Tower.
Besides the guardians at the entrance only few are awake at this hour - Istari seems peaceful, for now. After he passes the libary, Bernard finally reaches his room, throws his gear into some corner and falls exhausted on his bed.

"I need some sleep, just the damn light..."

As he turns to the candle on the table next to his bed, a sealed envelope draws his attention.

"Now what is this...?".

The moment he takes the envelope with his hands, the seal breaks and a letter unfolds itself right in front of the suprised man.
While he reads the letter Bernard frowns, his almost relaxed mood changes into a tension sneaking up on him.
Before he starts to write an anwser he opens the door to his room and waves over the next messenger he can find. Bernard whispers some short instructions before the young man hastes for the exit disappearing into the night.
After Bernard is done with the answer he puts the piece of paper into the envelope which suddenly closes itself, restoring the seal - like it was never open. Then for a short moment the room gets illuminated by a bright blue glow - before the envelope vanishes right in front of his eye.
The message obviously got delivered and Bernard can rest, for now.

As Foggy sits on a bench near the tower a young man appears to figure out if he is in the right place. Foggy is intrigued and asks the man if he needs anything.

The man seemed to be looking for a new Mistress by the name of Gil. "I haven't had tha pleasure ta meet her yet friend is there something I can help ya with?". This man, Jonathan he called himself, seemed eager to tell his story, it seemed like Mistress Gil had saved him from a bad encounter with a planetar of all things. "I wish to repay you kind people for helping me.", he said as he was taking out a huge bundle of scolls and some books, "There really is no need fer that friend, helpin others is a reward in itself fer us."

Insisting on repaying the masters for their assistance he gave Foggy all those scrolls and books, encumbering him in the process, "I know you folks will put these to good use, tell miss Gil and the others I say thanks" he said before quickly running off. "Ya have our thanks friend, if ya need anything just ask." said Foggy trying to keep his balance while holding the donated items.

"Reckon I'll have ta hold on to these till Master Elias shows up...."

A Bright Future

As the gathering of Weave Masters grew, the small ceremonial chamber at Istari Tower began to fill to it's maximum capacity with the bustling crowd. Everyone was talking and enjoying themselves in the midst of trying to find a place to sit. The hall itself had been recently adorned with many grand magical effects, banners, and miscellaneous decor; adding a very special feel for the upcoming event.

Chaplain Aeili stood in wonder in front of the podium looking out over her peers. Elias leaned on one of the iron golems legs in the rear of the chamber only to be seen by Aeili. When he caught the gaze of the chaplain he gave her a smile and a slight nod. Shortly after, she cleared her throat and began.

"The honorable Exarch Elias has asked that we begin this ceremony by asking a blessing from the Lady Mystra. I will proceed with this blessing, and would like you all to lend your focus in the task."

After a long moment of silence Aeili began her prayer to the Goddess of Magic. It took little time before many could feel the presence of Mystra herself among the crowd. Aeili beamed with a bright smile. Seemingly pleased with her work she nodded to Elias.

Not missing his cue the Exarch walked to the front of the room, smiling and greeting everyone along the way. Many long moments passed as Elias stood at the podium looking out over the other Weave Masters. A great sense of pride filled him at that moment, and he found himself briefly lost for words. Naturally though he did recover, and began his speech.
Image

"Fellow Weave Masters, I am deeply honored to be associated with such a fine group of people such as yourselves. Your deeds in the service of the Weave continue to reach my ears on a daily basis. Know that if you are not called to the podium today that I am still very proud of you all."

"The first order of business today will be for me to make a few announcements. This will not take long, if I do grow long winded feel free let me know."

With that Elias gave an awkward grin, as the smile had not left his face the entire time.

"My first announcement will be the formation of the Council of Weave Masters. This council will consist of seven members who will discuss the issues our order faces, and choose our best course of action in each circumstance. This council will consist of seven members chosen by myself, two from each branch of our order. Though I have already chosen the seven members who will sit on the council, their identity will be announced at a later time."

"Second in the announcements is the arrival of our new Quartermaster. A long time dwarven friend of mine Hilrin Firmbeard will assume this role for us. He enjoys his drink, and may be a bit gruff at times, but he means well. With this addition we will now be discussing ways to improve our handling of donated items to increase our guild coffers, and get items to those who are in need."

The Exarch stopped momentarily to take a drink. A glass of juice that had been left for him by Aeili. After a few swift drinks he turned back to the crowd and proceeded.

"Now my friends, the part of the night you are all waiting for. I need Gilandri'lith Asuanlana, Europa Star, and Bron Ferros to please take a place at the front of the podium."

As they approached the podium the Exarch greeted them all in turn with welcoming smiles and nods.

"These three, by their dedication and service to the Weave, have been given the title of Journeyman Weave Masters! We all have seen them grow into fine additions to our order, and hope to see them grow more as time continues. Please give them a round of applause."

Cheering and whistling were among the order for the next several moments. At one point even a single loud thunderous clap could be heard as one in the crowd amplified his applause with magic. After several long moments Elias raised his hands to quiet the cheers so that he could continue.

"The three Journeyman may be seated. Next I would like to call my very own guardian to the podium, Sentry Jonas Rokranon."

Elias stepped down and in front of the podium to greet his guardian with a hearty handshake and clasp on the shoulder.

"Let it be known that Jonas Rokranon's service to the Weave has been outstanding thus far. In his guardianship to me I have seen him go through lengths unheard of to protect that which we hold dear. That being said, Jonas has earned his new title as Guardian Sentinal of the Weave Masters. Congratulations my friend."

Before the Exarch could even finish the crowd roared into a frenzy of cheers and hoots. Jonas offered Elias a deep bow and returned to his seat amidst all those who wished to congratulate him. Meanwhile Elias remained on the floor in front of the podium.

"Bernard S'bach, please come up front with me."

As people looked on, many knowing already of Bernard's recent rise to Overwatch, Elias could not hide his smile as he shook the man's hand enthusiastically.

"As most of you already have heard, Seeker Bernard has been unwavering in his duty as a Weave Scout. His keen senses have helped us define and place our enemies for quite some time now. I am most proud to announce to you that Seeker Bernard S'bach is now our new Overwatch. He will be training, and assigning our scouts to their duties."

Another round of cheers and applause erupts from the crowd, nearly mimicking the last two. After waiting several long moments Elias continued.

"Now, as you all know, our order was founded with the primary purpose of protecting the Weave. A tenet that links us closely with the Lady Mystra, as she of course is the creator of the Weave. Recently we have filled a void in our organization that has long plagued me personally. Miss Aeili, please come forward."

Aeili rose from her seat blushing slightly as she started her way toward the front of the room. A remark from Foggy as she passed by deepened the shade of red that her face had turned. As she neared Elias offered a deep, respectful bow, and turned to the crowd.

"Miss Aeili Azenci has been given the title of Chaplain of the Weave Masters. A post only recently opened by necessity and request. I trust that you will treat her with the respect due to one who speaks the will of Mystra. She has shown great wisdom and great dedication to her post in the time she has been with us."

A quieter reception was given to the Aeili as she stood next to the Exarch. Soft clapping, and a few congratulatory comments were given. It was no less powerful than the loud cheering given to the others. As her eyes scanned the room, smiles and silent nods of respect were given.

"My friends and peers," Elias began one last time. "The future of the Weave Masters is brighter than it has ever been! Through all of your hard work and dedication you have brought honor to our name! I wish to see you all up here, as we will undoubtedly hold such ceremonies in the future. Now the hall is prepared, and it is time for us to celebrate!"

With that Elias stepped into the bustling crowd. Outside of Istari Tower that evening passers by marveled at the glow surrounding the tower as the Weave Masters celebrated their past, present. and future.

This morning...

... Bernard left the chapel at the Istari-tower with a smile on his face, maybe he likes praying , maybe he recieved a certain blessing, maybe he just enjoyed talking to Aeili while the chapel is still silent...who know's.

His smile nearly turned into a laugh as he passed through the dining-hall where most of the Weavemasters were having their breakfast.

"I reckon' ya didn't reckon' that!"

MasterMcGee and Exarch Elias were discussing the pros and cons of summoning sliced bread form the outer planes.Elias replied,

"but this bread is extraplanar,..." he pauses for a moment and takes a sip from his teafilled mug "we have to be careful,we dont know about it's intentions".

Foggys is busy eating a delicious sandwich so that the Exarch has to wait several seconds before the gnome finally answers with his mouth still filled by the food:

"I tell ya' wat!"

he bites off another piece of the sandwich. The rest of the answer is lost, either in Master McGees sandwich-filled mouth or in a cloud of chatter, and noise created by the people at the dining-hall.

On his way to his room Bernard passes the quarters of the Weaveguardians. A line of young men, standing still in front of a person who continously walks the hallway up and down talking:

"...and this is your Duty, never forget that..."

Jonas, a rolemodel of a noble warrior, Sentinel of the Weaveguardians, busy instructing the new recruits.
A short nod - returned - there is no time to talk.

Bernard reaches his room, still grinning about the scene he just witnessed at the dining-hall. After he opened the window of his room he sits at his desk. Various notes and envelopes lay scattered across the table. Reports with rumors of Drowpirate-sightings, lists with names of possible Red Wizards and Necromancers and a picture of a certain Illusionist, drawn by one of the scribes, marked with a red cross. He mutters something about unreliable information and turns his attention to an envelope with the seal of Aileen on it.

"Finally some good reconissance...i knew from the first day that this girl is worth her weight in gold, hah. Ok, let me just grab my feather and ink."

Bernard searches his room for some ink, but has no luck...the mass of chaos is just too overwhelming.

"Didn't i have some coal left somewhere?"

After several minutes of search without any result, he finally managed to find a piece of charcoal in his backpack. Ready to answer Aileens letter, Bernard returns to the desk. To his suprise he finds the note which was just read by him covered by another very important looking envelope. The bearded one-eye looks confused to the open window and then to the locked door of his room. Maybe the envelope was there for days, maybe burried under a bunch of maps and notes, maybe it was delivered by the wind which carried it through the open window...who know's
As Bernard touches the seal, the envelope opens. The letter unfolds itself floating in the air just in front of him.

This morning Bernard leaves the Istari-Tower with a cold expression on his face.

Paranoia Part 1

Unread post by Osadam »

It had been a good day so far, Foggy was on his way to the tower to check his messages when he sees a familiar silhouette approaching, "Evenin Bernard how ya doin?", a furious look is present on his face, "Just had a run in with our favorite hin." he replies.

Fearful of prying ears, Bernard leans into Foggy and whispers are exchanged as Bernard explains his concerns Foggy seems to reassure him...
The hin approaches with a mocking tone, greeting both Foggy and Bernard like they were old friends. The weavers decide not to humor him and act as if he wasn't there...this proves to be somewhat effective as the hin leaves looking annoyed.

The reassuring look displayed by Foggy changes and he looks at Bernard as if he'd stabbed him in the back. His irate words hit Bernard like a barrage of bolts, and "Red Hat" gives him no time to reply before leaving the scene.

A hot headed Foggy walks through the streets of Baldur's Gate, his blinding anger prevents him from heading the right way to the Istari Tower and it is only when Sentinel Jonas calls him that he realizes where he is. After a short exchange of words Foggy races to the tower, and heads up to his private quarters.

All hells break loose in the halls of the Istari Tower as an apparent Drunk Bernard fights all the foes his mind can come up with, it seemed like he had resorted to booze once again to deal with his problems. Luckily chaplain Aeili walks in just in time to help him recover from his embarrassing state.

Not thinking straight, Foggy packed some essentials and runs out determined to clear his name, "I'll take care of them maself!!" he shouts, " Even if I have ta squeeze ta truth outta that hin", he runs as fast as his little gnome legs allow him to, and returns to the place he last saw the hin.
The hin was nowhere to be seen, so he went along the road to try and spot him.

As he approached the merchants camp, and much to his surprise the hin sat peacefully reading some book he could not identify, as Foggy was about to cast, his sight was replaced with darkness, and his words suppressed. Pain was followed by numbness, as his body shut down to protect itself, he fell on the floor and no one hesitated when they left him for dead.

Feel free to add on to this, if you are one of those involved.(some parts were omitted for secrecy, check the WM private forums for unedited version)

once finished with his business in the tower, phantom slipped a note under elias's door.

to the new exarch,

let me begin with an apology. i apologize for leaving after only a brief period of service. at the time, the fist needed much more help. unfortunately, i hear the weavemaster have also fallen on fairly hard times. for that i apologize as well. as one who left, i am as responsible as all the others.

i ask for an opportunity to correct my mistake. i ask to rejoin your ranks. this time i will not be leaving them. i have always felt a better fit as a scout in your ranks. i have long regretted my decision to leave, and now hope to return.

Paranoia Part 2

Unread post by rokranon »

(( As told from the point of view of Aeili, and later edited ))

Thud!

Aeili lifted up her head from the copy of Albenezers Grand Ensorcelments for the Mind she had finally acquired. Poking her head out into the hallway she saw a drunken Bernard laying on the floor. She sighed inwardly as she placed the book down and went out into the hallway to tend to the drunken scout. As he lay he raged to himself, calling out, "Traitors! Liars, all of them!" Aeili tilted an inquisitive ear, but was more interested in getting him out of his drunken stupor.

The thud of steel greaves met her ears as the door at the end of the hallway opened, and Guardian Jonas appeared with a guest. Frowning at her current situation with Bernard, she tried to persuade him to stand as the guest looked on with a frown. Jonas escorted the guest to his room and closed the door, then returned later to help her get Bernard to his room. Once inside he lay down on his bed, but slid off the side and onto the floor. Too intoxicated to notice, that was where he fell asleep, and Aeili realized she had no chance of lifting him up, so she did the only thing she thought he would need, placing a bucket at his feet for when he woke up.

After a few hours of quiet reading in her room she was finally greeted with the sound of Bernard's stomach contractions. Shaking her head, she rose up, collected a towel from her closet just in case, and quietly opened Bernard's door to see to him. She frowned with consternation as she witnessed the pool of Bernard's stomach contents upon the floor and not in the bucket she had put in the room for that very purpose, and Bernard looked up at her with a frown.

"Ughhh..." he groaned, the pungent odor of Elf Song brew mixed with stomach mucous meeting his nostrils. Aeili shook her head and cast Mage Hand upon the towel she was carrying, and before Bernard could move or complain she directed it to wipe up his face and beard, before cleaning up the mess on the floor.

"I suppose you want your usual restorative, Bernard?" she quipped wryly, and Bernard avoided her gaze. He stared at the floor as she cast a restorative spell on him, and then she picked up the bucket and offered him a drink to help him recover. "Yes please," he said, and Aeili left the room to get him a pot of lemon tea. On her return Jonas was inside talking with Bernard about Weave Master business, and she politely placed the tea on Bernard's table and let them to their business.

She returned to the kitchen to prepare a platter of fruit for Jonas and Bernard, and as she made her way up the stairs we was met by the angry yelling on Master Foggy. "I'll kill 'im myself ifn I haveta!" Aeili, utilizing her natural elvish grace, balanced the tray as Foggy stormed his way downstairs. She was met with the concerned looks of Bernard and Jonas as she made her way back to Bernard's room. Jonas stood up and went to calm the gnome, but came back later with a shrug.

Concerned, Aeili left the gentlemen with their fruit platter and made her way downstairs to Mystra's shrine. The only thing she thought to do at the time was to offer some prayers to Mystra, to give Foggy a clear mind to act responsibly. And she closed her eyes and focused her mind and thoughts towards Mystra, a vision appeared to the diviner, something she had experienced not too infrequently since her coming to Faerun. She watched as imaged floated through her mind before a clear picture came: A familiar red hat and a merchant caravan. Aeili offered up a thanksgiving chant to Mystra, before proceeding back to her room to divine the meaning of the vision further.

She focused her thoughts squarely upon the place - the Merchant Caravan - and chanted a Clairvoyance spell. As the location appeared before her in her mind she looked around. There, besides a tree, was the familiar red hat, and an unconscious gnome laying beside it. Her spell ended the instant she cried out, "Oh... oh no! OH GODS!" She quickly burst into Bernard's room where Jonas was still discussing things with him and, her hands shaking with panic, cried out "Master Foggy is in trouble!"

Jonas immediately stood, Bernard likewise, and said "What? Where!" Still shaking with panic, Aeili stuttered "At the... the... in the... Merchant Caravan!" Immediately Jonas rushed himself down the stairwell, only to crash into a Weave scout in the lobby. The stunned scout looked up at him and asked what was going on. Aeili followed him down the stairs, as did Bernard, and explained a little of the situation before they all left the Tower and headed for the Merchant Caravan.

Jonas, through some feat of extraordinary endurance, ran off far ahead as Aeili lost her breath after leaving Baldur's Gate. Holding her side, she walked as briskly as she could alongside the scout and Bernard, before they all got within sight of the River Chionthar. Forcing herself to run, Aeili found Jonas scanning the scene. He turned to her and asked, "Where did you see him? Where is he?" Aeili puffed, and between breaths said, "The red hat... was near... the trees. The trees... search the trees."

They split up and searched amongst the trees around the merchant caravan, and it was Jonas that discovered the gnome's unconscious body. "Over here!" he called out, and Aeili, the scout and Bernard rushed quickly to his side. The poor gnome has been stabbed many times and had a mark around his neck. Aeili and Jonas quelled the bleeding with some bandages, while the scout and Bernard examined the area thoroughly for clues revealing the perpetrator. "We need to get him to the Istari Tower, so I can treat him properly," Aeili remarked with a concerned look on her face. "It is not yet too late for him, if we move with haste."

Jonas hefted the gnome up into his strong arms as Aeili talked briefly with Bernard and the scout, instructing them to obtain as much information as they were able to sense. With that, the scouts remained behind as Aeili and Jonas rushed back to the Istari Tower. After laying him on his bed, Aeili fetched her medical equipment. She applied antiseptic to his wounds before treating them with magic, and accelerating his natural recovery time. The gnome stirred slightly as his body flowed with positive energy, but remained unconscious. After stabilizing him, Aeili discussed with Jonas the nature of his injuries until the scout returned. She told them how Bernard had gone off to Beregost with a lead, and she had returned to share the information on what she had found.

When the scout came in to see Foggy, however, she looked around somewhat troubled. "Are all his belongings intact?" she asked. Aeili looked at Jonas, and both of them wide eyed back at the scout. "Oh my we didn't even think to check!" Aeili said, and began searching his belongings. "What if they took his key?" the scout remarked, to which Jonas also began a search. Not even a secret pocket in Foggy's hat turned up with the key. Aeili looked at Jonas with a blank face. "I shall activate the wards," she said with a grim tone, and made her way downstairs. The Tower buzzed with energy as Aeili activated a warding spell upon the stairwell door, and altered the contingency to alert the guardian golems of any intruders attempting to cross the warded zone.

She returned upstairs and resumed discussing the recent troubles with Jonas and the scout, to which they all agreed the Tower was to be declared off limits for Guild related activities until guarantee of security was re-established. Giving them both a small blue wardstone, with which they might pass through the ward unharmed by the golems, she watched grimly as the scout left the tower to find the hin's location, and Jonas for his home to get his wife.

Paranoia Part 3

The scout left quickly, and Jonas lingered for a few moments to speak to Aeili before going to get Alistaria to care for Foggy. It is a good thing he stayed, as soon a loud knocking could be heard from the locked door below. Jonas and Aeili went together to meet the visitor, and it was none other than the hin himself. Jonas could sense Aeili's outrage, yet he remained calm, preferring to speak to Foggy himself before acting against the hin.

The hin came with information, suggesting Jonas look into a certain someone. Jonas had already heard this claim earlier when he was talking with Sir Arkaine and Foggy passed by, upset about Bernard's questioning. A cloaked female hin and stepped out of the bushes to give Jonas this information, and he was skeptical about it, especially since she had been listening in on Arkaine and Jonas' conversation. Hearing the accusation come from the traitor hin's mouth did nothing to curb Jonas' skepticism, yet he heard the hin out and agreed to the hin's request to try and get Bernard to stop harassing him in public.

Zolf came in during this conversation, and was hostile toward the hin from the start, and vice versa. The hin left quickly, and Zolf wanted to speak to Foggy about an item. Jonas refused to let Zolf in with the lock down in place, and suggested Zolf should undergo the "test" that is mandatory for all members. Zolf said that the last person who cast that detestable spell on him lost their arm, and Jonas replied that he would not be allowed in the tower without it. Zolf settled for Jonas to go and get the item, which turned out to be his sword.

Upon returning from the upper levels, Jonas found Aeili staying behind the locked door, away from Zolf. She seemed to loath the man, a feeling in which Jonas shares, actually. Jonas entered the entry hall, and found Zolf up against the wall, with blood dripping all over. Jonas returned the sword, and Zolf returned to the wall, his back to Jonas. When the paladin asked the man what he was doing, Aeili burst out to investigate. She realized he was drawing runes on himself in blood so that he could do a Spirit Walk through the wall. She immediate ran over to the shrine of Mystra, and drawing upon her deity's power, she dispelled the runes, pulling Zolf back into the Prime. He seemed to be in a lot of pain, and Jonas, despite his dislike, reached out to the man.

Zolf immediately focused on Jonas and clasped the paladin's wrists, crushing his bracers and causing quite a lot of pain, but Jonas stood there stoically. It very nearly came to a sword fight right there in the lobby, but Jonas remained calm, and Zolf eventually left, with pure malice in his eyes for Jonas, Aeili, and a lower ranking guardian, who had just come in.

After Zolf left, Aeili collapsed on the floor, disbelieving that the man was a member of the guild because of how he treats her. She ultimately broke down crying, and Jonas carried her up to her room, comforted her with some kind words, and left her to trance.

Paranoia Conclusion

Unread post by Osadam »

"He's still under." Said Jonas to the Exarch, it was the third day of deep slumber for Foggy, Elias, Jonas and the new prospect were by his bed side. His condition seemed to be improving as he could be heard sometimes muttering fragments of words.

A slight fever had made him sweat, his small body was trying to fight some infection it seemed. The trio discussed the events of late, trying to come up with some answers on their own.

After a while, they left the room, the prospect's recruitment ceremony was to be held at the chapel. In a sudden spurt of consciousness, Foggy got out of his bed, he was too weak to walk so he crawled towards one of his shelves, he attempted to climb the shelf and reach for something but his body was too weak and he fell, with him fell some books and some candlesticks.

Oblivious to what was going on in Foggy's room the exarch finished the ceremony and welcomed a new member to the ranks of the Weave Masters, he stated that if Foggy didn't wake up till the end of the day, he'd be casting some dispelling on him.

The three went back to the room to check on Foggy, they found him lying on the floor with all sorts of stuff on the ground next to him. This scene made Elias feel guilty for not being there at the time of the attack, even though he had no way of knowing.

Jonas picked Foggy up and took him to the bed, noticing the fever he tried to heal Foggy once again, but fever is a symptom of healing so nothing much changed. Elias cast several dispelling and mind restoration spells, but Foggy didn't wake up at this time. Still worried Elias left the room to get something for Foggy and soon returned with a bowl of chicken soup. He fed the soup to Foggy who ate it up with some difficulty, it was obvious to those in the room that Foggy and Elias had a strong friendship, the natural rosy hue returned to Foggy's cheeks once he finished the soup.

The room got dark as the candle consumed itself, Jonas remembered the candles that fell to the floor and handed one to the initiate so she could lit it. As she was about to light the candle it broke half, revealing a small metallic object rammed inside the wax. "Hum, do you guys have the habit of hiding things inside candles?", Jonas and Elias gave her a questioning look, she pulled out what looked like a key, "Look, it has the Weave Master Symbol on it."

The men grinned at the sight of the "Stolen" tower key, "Seems like our wizard still has his wits with him." Elias commented. Jonas sighed with relief "I guess we might have overdone it with the tower lock-down after all." Elias reassured Jonas saying he'd done the same exact thing if he was in his shoes. The trio left Foggy to rest and to spread the word that there was no security breach.

Later in the evening, as Elias left his room he heard some noise coming from Foggy's room. He knocked, "Master Foggy? Are you awake", "Hello? Master Elias? Come in." Elias walked in and saw the gnome sitting by his desk rubbing his neck still bruised. Elias smiled and thanked Mystra for Foggy being up

A still groggy Foggy retold everything that had happened to Elias, he looked ashamed at what he'd done, Elias gave him some words of comfort, and told him he'd made a decision, "We must contact our allies, both the Fist and the Druids." Foggy nodded and asked the Exarch if he could join him, Elias was hesitant to let him accompany him in such a state, but Foggy seemed determined to help so he walked with Elias using his scabbard as a walking stick and the both left the tower to find those who lead their allies.
