Build me a looter worthy of Mordor...

Unread post by Sputnik »

Hey there!

I am out of practice when it comes to building.
Hopefully some of you more savvy types can help this has-been. :D

Checklist:

-Must be fast! Whether by magic or class ability..
-Must be powerful! Able to solo all bosses except for the White Dragon
-Must be able to carry enough loot! Strength need not be sky-high, but hauling capability is required. Not opposed to polymorphing to this end..
-Good defensive capabilities! Whether by invisibility or high AC, Hips! anything one can think of that can be used to stay alive.

The RP concept is undecided, so the options as of right now are quite flexible.
Arcane, Warlock, Melee, Sneaky, Gish ... Anything you feel that meets the above requirements, throw it at me!

Nothing beats a good strength bard in terms of efficiency. You can repurpose this for a different race

I'd be more inclined to play an high CL version for what he wants, monk 6/ SF 10/Hierophant 4 / cleric 10 with something like 20 STR.

Solid suggestions so far.

What about a warlock build?
And how about a sorcerer gish or transmuter specialist who shape shifts?

Would they be strong enough to do what I want to do?

Warlock is solid all around but kills slowly, same for shapeshifting builds, sorcerer gish works well but no way to heal itself.

Warlock seems a really good choice. My warlock 21 is capable of soloing Ograhn's great hall (including the boss) and Wilds Descent, I was able to kill boss in the East of Mistlake at 14. Simple hipslock or blackguard lock - both work. One of the main advantages is obviously the fact you don't need rest at all and can endlessly summon undead to tank for you.

Warlock can't kill the balor without significant UMD abuse after the level scaling was implemented. The rest just don't measure up to bard

Really the only viable choices are FS (or cleric) and bard. Bard has less than half the buffing time of cleric and can deal with packs better but it takes some getting used to and the occasional death to get good at.

Why is that? The level scaling is not supposed to work on bosses like the balor.

It may have been an unintended side effect or a sneak buff. either way, soloing the balor as a warlock is not possible currently. you simply take too much damage (I tried it as a 550~ hp toon, with 56 AC with epic fiendish resilience)

Can concur with this.

Otherwise, Conlock rickrolls just about everything else (except for Frosty and Green Dragon/Earth Guard) on the server. Brilliant little all rounder. Gear dependant though.
