15, unless the default level is higher (eg all level 9 spells are at least CL 17; some are CL 20 like Bigby's Crushing Hand), which makes scars a vastly superior option for BM.

Yup you are correct, 15 seems arbitrary though i don't know why that was chosen. max CL 15 means that you cant scribe 9th level spells (which it just sets the min to whatever is hard coded but something over 17).

and from the wiki " You can choose the CL by way of an input window that pops; there are certain restrictions like you can't go below the spell minimum or beyond your CL."

So we might want to update those as well as the feat description: "Any arcane or divine spell of any level may be placed on a scroll." Or its a bug.

Though I also haven't tried to go over CL 15 on a scar yet either. And another side note that you can only one one scar per spell level max 6.

This is not correct. BGTSCC custom scribe scroll means the player sets the caster level of the scroll they've made to a max caster level of 15 (with exceptions, as noted above) as opposed to default 'OC' values. Caster Level affects things like duration, damage dice, resistance to dispelling and ability to pierce Spell Resistance. Some scrolls are better with a higher level (eg. Bigby 6,7, 9, Divine Power, Divine Favor, Heal, Regeneration) but some are better without because caster level makes no difference to their functionality (Raise Dead, Resurrection, Energy Immunity).

This feature has nothing to do with spell levels (0-9). All spells can be scribed except for those listed as unscribable in my spell compendium here.

Thats the point i wanted to make. Scars are as powerful as spells. There is no comparison between a bigby9 or 6 as a scar and the same spells as scrolls. The differences are massive.

On the matters of hp, saves, Bonus CON and BM abilities, most consider them altogether a very powerful package. Of course not everyone will see it this way but that is how those things are.

Ah I see so that does make a bit of a differences, I was under the impression that there wasn't an arbitrary CL cap on scribe scroll.

As for why you cant make a lvl 15 9th circle scroll is based on PnP and the original scribe scroll. Basically the minimum caster level for a spell is the minimum caster level required to cast it. I.E. 1 for first level 3 for second and 17 for 9th. If I had to guess all the 9th level spells made into scrolls are higher than CL 15 but i haven't tried it yet. Seems it does allow 9th level to be lower than minimum CL.

As to the HP boast et.al. Its nice but as i said you can get a better package from other classes if that is really something you are going for. It seemed more of a thematical decision than a balancing one as the casting revolves around constantly hurting one's self.

I would still much rather have the +2 CL work on all the spells it is suppose to work on without needed the mechanical requirement of a explicit enemy target. And all of the bonuses that the blood mage get if we now include scars (daily additional spell slots at the cost of money) still has the penalty of it being a KoS class. Certainly the risk RP wise and the restriction of being unable to really utilize the class openly should make it a powerful spellcasting class that is akin to archemage or Olin Gisir. It essentially already is if bloodseeking worked for offensive aoe spells (still an arguement for one does 4 dmg to yourself every time you cast something vs 0).
