working torches?

hello!

Is it me or are the torches sold at shops not working?

When i equip one not fire/light is evident.

I like the flickering aspect of torches ;-p

are there any vendors that sell working torches?

There was a post some time ago about how torches found in the Loot Table work, but those sold at Merchants do not...or vice versa. The solution was that you drop the torch, then pick it up again, the equip it...and most times it works.

ah, heck...no joy.

i tried dropping and re-using standard torches - does not work

when i found a flaming stick (banner) i tired to set to 1 in the AC, - did not work.

any other tips?

or is there a merchant that sells 'Fighting Torches'?

Head up to Soubar. There is a bucket by the merchant that has good torches in it for free.

I had the same problem. My hin is the only toon I play without nightvision. And she is a sneaky hispter....shes always in the dark.

I was getting so angry trying to get a simple friggin torch to work. I had just given up when I suddenly and randomly found this flaming banner...not a torch but a a banner that was on fire. I thought I fluked out and my day was made- problem finally solved. So I try to turn this giant flaming banner into a regular torch and some how I put the flame out changing its appearance.

That was it!
I started harrassing every dm and player I could find for a solution. My temper was lost!

Until, it was Pokey I think...he was all like: You want light, I'll get ya yer stinking light! (okay maybe he didn't say it exactly like that)
He was like: What colour?
I was like red!
He was like: Ala-kazam! Biffo-Boffo!
Boom! I had a unlit torch that was giving off red light!

If you can, just buy 10 scrolls of light. 10 scrolls is one pound the same as a torch. You can cast in on your weapon or helm or something. It lasts quite awhile and you get to choose your colour!

I have suddenly noticed working torches and lanterns, being dropped by mobs lately. And no more banners on fire being dropped. My dwarf has like four lanterns and two torches now (I was hording them at first, was going to start auctioning them off for a 1000 bags a pop).

So thanks to whoever fixed it!

My hin can see. It looks kind of neat having her sneak around with a dagger and a lantern -she shutters the lantern before going in for a kill!
