Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
/OOC Often There is a number of in game props/clues for my plots. These only remain as temporary features while server is up. To provide an indication of when such clues are in game there will also be present an NPC 'Sparty' at FAI, and Soubar near Mudd. Also located at Market Building Sshamath Central,(When clues/drops relate to Upperdark/Underdark)
Sparty at the elfsong, implies there are specifically clues within Baldur's Gate Harbour
IE if he is in game - some plot clues will be also be present. (this may save you unnecessarily looking for things when they are not there ie no 'sparty' no clues)
Other clues are held with PCs and as persistent documents and designed to encourage RP
Rumours around Soubar relate to sightings of the Undead Hunter Arkall Steadfast and his followers there talking about Devils. They met with Druids and masked men and departed their separate ways.
In other Flaming Fist news it appears another mercenary company is being formed to face the Devils and Orcs of the Troll Claws. They have recruited their force and have taken up an offer from the Twin Daggers Trade contractors to supply this company in the field. No other Trade companies were seen to bid.
The Rocky Trade Company has enhanced their rural credentials by arranging a meeting between a Druid and the Mayor and would be Queen, Dharva Scatterheart. Greenest now has a rare collections of plants and flowers as a centre display to mark the occasion. There is a new Druid on the Uldoon Trail the first since the fall of one of the so called Four Acorns. Things are once again balanced.
Elsewhere a courier from Soubar went missing around the FAI and whatever intrigue he was up to likely died with him.
Just another week on the Coast.

Gossip gravitates along the Coast that an ancient relic, the Tome of Ultimate Evil, has been destroyed by a gaggle of guilds gathered by the renowned Paladin Arkall Steadfast who himself has now moved east to take other duties leaving the task of Undead Slaying in the hands of Coastal Guilds.
In other Flaming Fist news it appears a mercenary company formed to face the Devils and Orcs of the Troll Claws, suffered an initial setback and had to retreat to resupply. The company employed to supply them, the Twin Daggers, had a caravan destroyed in the Troll claws. No one was available to rescue them and they perished, for some unexplained reason goods from the wagon were sighted by adventurers as far afield as Baldur's Gate. The Twin Daggers were withdrawn from the resupply arrangement and once again the flaming Fist are seeking a trade company to safely resupply them.
In other trade news prices for Silver weapons, rare plants not native to the coast, and Elturian blue cheese, all remain high while there appears to be a glut of gold ornaments and diamonds.
Elsewhere a trader Ronsoon has moved south away from Baldur's Gate in search of better markets.
Just another week on the Coast.

The Flaming Fist have overseen checks throughout the City of current defences. Talk of routine and overdue maintenance were looked upon as unlikely by suspicious onlookers.
In other Flaming Fist news it appears the mercenary company formed to face the Devils and Orcs of the Troll Claws, has returned to regroup at barracks in Baldur's Gate harbour. There is rumour of a missing patrol, casualties, an encounter with Devils they have taken an Oath not to discuss. The flaming Fist are seeking a trade company to safely resupply them upon their return to the field, so far no Trade Company or adventurers have come forward to assist. It seems the fear of Devils is now reaching out all along the Coast.
In other trade news prices for Silver weapons, rare plants not native to the coast, and Elturian blue cheese, all remain high while there appears to be a glut of gold ornaments and diamonds. Though it has been reported there has been some stockpiling of Golden Ornaments and the City watch have warned Traders to be alert to to the risk of thieves drawn to stockpiling.
Elsewhere a Diamond trader Ronsoon has moved south away from Baldur's Gate in search of better markets put off by a glut in the market.

Traders report unusual levels of wagon traffic on the trade way, heading from Baldur's Gate in the direction of Kraak Helzak, over the last couple of days.

The success of the City going on the offensive with the Flaming Fist has masked other Flaming Fist news where it appears the mercenary company formed to face the Devils and Orcs of the Troll Claws, has regrouped and is urgently needed back in the Troll claws where the Devils have laid waste to a small hamlet, perhaps in retaliation for the City success elsewhere.
There is still no sign of a missing patrol, . The flaming Fist have engaged with trade companies to safely resupply them upon their return to the field.
In other trade news prices for Silver weapons, rare plants not native to the coast, and Elturian blue cheese, all return back to normal h while there appears to be a shortage of specialist medical supplies, and mining equipment.
Elsewhere a Diamond trader Ronsoon has been found dead south of Beregost, and not a diamond in sight. Necromancers and Thieves both seem to have been blamed.
New trading companies have sprung up in both Baldur's Gate and the Underdark.

With news of more casualties among diminishing communities around Devil activity a Flaming Fist company shrouded in some secrecy finally returned to face the Devils and Orcs of the Troll Claws. They were shortly followed by a slower moving and large supply effort provided by The Golden Arrow and Golden Wheel Trade companies. Choosing a devious and difficult route they carried supplies over the mountains with local guides leading along little known trails. The trading companies returned in due course, fatigued and perhaps battle weary. A profit was made but their was some grumbling more had been spent on defensive magics!
There is still no sign of a previous missing patrol, . However the trading expedition found some clues which they promptly handed over to Captain Norton of the Flaming Fist, who rather routinely threatened to tear Troll heads off.
Elsewhere City Merchants, a trade company of Baldur's Gate offered a reward of 15 bags for the return of Diamond trader Ronsoon's missing diamonds, previously lost around Beregost. Necromancers and Thieves both seem to have been blamed.
Specific trade goods have been found around the coast and adverts seeking same have popped up here and there and even as far as the Underdark. Sharp eyed opportunists might make a few coin by paying attention to the detail (and the places they dont always search, some poorer individuals have been noted running past treasure in their haste to rinse and repeat)

There is news of two trade companies, flush with success supporting the Flaming Fist in the Troll Claws. Both took there share of the crew and equipment involved in the expedition. They invested strongly and expanded their roles. The Golden Arrow chose to recruit some specialists to take goods into awkward locations and are currently training them up to support mining operations. The Golden Wheel opted to expand their capacity for an existing route south. They were spotted negotiating with Athkatlan traders, and driving a caravan north beyond Baldur's Gate.
The Flaming First company left operating in the Troll Claws did not fare so well. They first sent a patrol to examine a site where it had been reported some kind of ship had appeared in the mountains. Rumour has it they found nothing but debris. They did not dally but moved on to search for missing soldiers following a direct line of enquiry provided by The trade companies. They raided a Troll lair and made off with 3 lost troopers. This it turned out was perhaps their only success. The main camp found some of their food spoilt and were forced to advance their plans to explore some caves. Their caving equipment was not really up to the job and they started to pull out when they had a confrontation with Devils and Orcs. Initially successful they thereafter were forced to make an orderly withdrawal. This continued and eventually they decided to quit the Mountains to resupply. There is a rumour circulating things were in fact much worse.
Elsewhere City Merchants, a trade company of Baldur's Gate increased a reward of 15 bags to 30 bags for the return of Diamond trader Ronsoon's missing diamonds, previously lost around Beregost. Necromancers and Thieves both seem to have been blamed.
It has not gone unnoticed that Hunters of Vengeance are once again present along the Coast. They have not been idle it is said.

Flaming Fist troopers previously employed in the Troll Claws and who returned apparently much the worse for wear were quickly reallocated the unusual task of escorting a trade mission to Chult at a time when the situation on the Coast is critical. No more deployments were currently planned in the Troll Claws where travellers were advised movement in the hills may be dangerous and it would be wise to seek alternative routes.
A small patrol of mercenary scouts made a useful excursion into the Troll Claws at the bidding of private enterprise. It has not been made clear what they uncovered, but they returned and their mission remains elusive.
There is a hot rumour circulating the City that one the Merchant guilds is sitting on an enormous horde of silver, perhaps waiting for prices to rise even further.
It has not gone unnoticed that Hunters of Vengeance are once again present along the Coast. Though recently things have been quiet, and their view on Devils uncertain.
A book relating to Devils was found by a book collector and taken to Candlekeep.

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
Rumour has it the Troll Claws have seen a wave of strong attacks by Devils and Orcs, aggressively spreading out and hunting for Baldurian scouts and spies. Those clashes that have been reported have gone the way of the Devil.
Both the City and individuals have been doing the rounds along the Coast trying to find a solution, lore, or weapons perhaps, conversation has been guarded.
The Dukes have made a proclamation about a very large shipment of silver that has been made available to the city courtesy of that stalwart financial institution the SCCE located in the Harbour District. This collection is expected to be taken into a very grateful Duchal custody as soon as arrangements can be made.
It has not gone unnoticed that Hunters of Vengeance are once again present along the Coast. A rumour swirls that a madman, or more generously a Seer, speaks of destiny changing at the point of a vengeful spear. Not unsurprisingly what form this might take was whispers on the Coast.
A book relating to Devils was found by a book collector and taken to Candlekeep. No further news of this has been received by this intrepid bard.

The Dukes have made a proclamation about a very large shipment of silver that has been made available to the city courtesy of that stalwart financial institution the SCCE located in the Harbour District. The Dukes gratefully acknowledge the assistance and support of the SCCE in providing a valuable cache of silver at this crucial time. The silver has now been safely delivered into the care of the City. Much of it immediately allocated to the Flaming Fist for further recruitment, and replacement of worn weapons.
In addition on the back of the recent major successes of Coastal Guilds in the fight on Devils the Dukes have invited Guilds and other entrepreneurs to provide a business plan for the remaining silver to be fruitfully used in the war against the Devil.

A large party might have been spotted disappearing into the natural landscape from where they were congregated at the Friendly Arm Inn via the druidic way of travel. They returned again some hours later to the very same spot, warded and leaf-covered and possibly smelling of undead, but in good condition. Anyone sensitive to such things who might journey deep within the Wood of Sharp Teeth might sense that something odd took place between the fabric of the Prime and some other small plane of existence. In addition, the lingering remnants of necromancy and a powerful Disjunction might be detected for a brief time, as well as the evidence of large, lycanthropic footprints upon the terrain.

Re: DM Rumours of the Sword Coast
Deep within the Wood of Sharp Teeth, the sky seemed to have opened wide to allow a shower of divine fire to rain down upon a spot saturated with holy energy, light, and a ritual circle. The low, crooning howl of a lycanthrope may have carried a few miles from the spot, signaling some noteworthy happenstance or another having occurred...

Devil raiding parties have been spotted among the Troll Claws trails troubling travellers. Portals, invincible Devils, treasure beyond wildest dreams have all been reported by various dubious and unconfirmed sources. The risk to troll hunters and those collecting rare hides has surely increased.
The City of Baldur's Gate have warned travellers moving beyond their lands to the south to watch for an Outlaw and demonstrated evil necromancer Morgan Blackrose. This death cheating individual was reported to have teleported south of the City recently but was not heard of again. Further information can be provided in confidence to City Officials.
In addition on the back of the recent major successes of Coastal Guilds in the fight on Devils the Dukes have invited Guilds and other entrepreneurs to provide a business plan for the recently acquired SCCE silver to be fruitfully used in the war against the Devil.
A Dragon was sighted by adventurers chasing down Kobolds in the Hilltop ruins. They say in some half full ales - Where there are Dragons there is treasure. Elsewhere some half empty Ale drinkers said where there there are Dragons there is death.
In trade news The Golden Wheel and their customer Fox came out the better of an encounter with trade rivals - the Twin Daggers when they recently met at the Refugee camp near Baldur's Gate. The Wheel handed over a donation of clothing paid for by Fox while Norveer for the Twin Daggers stood idly by ready to sell almost the same goods. It appeared to some bantering bystanders he had not expected the Golden Wheel to roll on by. He later sold his goods at reduced prices to Fox who promptly donated these goods too!
Demand for slaves amongst the evil that lurks in the Underdark has both caused prices to rise, and the Temple of Ilmater to offer a reward for all freed individuals. All eyes on the Coast it seems for various reasons are increasingly drawn to Soubar.

Time passes and Admiral Yossan Yongfall, still fleet-less, is spotted at the docks discussing a berth with a single dock official. Three traders standing nearby wait, perhaps hoping to help outfit the Admiral's ambitions. Two others walk past unnoticed deep in conversation. "We are called overseas to more lucrative work my friend our planning is to no avail." Casting a practised eye over the docks the other replies "You are too good for this City Cat, let them keep their riches, we might never know if the plan would have worked." Both look to the sea, the one known as Cat merely nods by way of agreement slowly tearing up a document methodically into ten pieces. He casts it to the harbour waters. A sudden unexpected gust of wind denies the water the prize and pieces float across the City high into the sky. The two watch in bemusement. "Given the Gods concerns, can we really be surprised!" The Cat offers by way of explanation. "Come we should be gone." The Admiral unaware points at a berth nodding, the other two have vanished from site, already gone to all intents and purposes from the City.
An unusual outbreak of disease among the refugees outside the Gates is declared contained. A Planetar is blamed.
A party of Dwarves destroyed in the Trollclaws is blamed on the Devils.
The fall in the price of silver is blamed on the Twin Daggers and their reduced trading.
Foul tempers and bad jokes are blamed on the Bard of the east Gate.
