Alright so I have suspected this for years. Every time I have brought it up I was told I had confirmation bias. Yet I couln't help but notice that often I would see the same thing I had just looted on auction. Posted "within 30 minutes". Now today I killed two creatures and received the exact same loot from both of them. Two Necklaces with the same randomized name and same statistics. So I am going to call it confirmed here. I don't care that I will probably be told "fluke 1in a million chance not proof" or whatever. The simple fact is the loot isn't truly random in my experience.
I guess I am posting this to see if anyone else has noticed the same thing?

Re: Looting twice in quick succession gives the same loot
I don't know about RANDOM, but I do know that, in general, there is a 'table' of loot items that can be found/dropped from chests/monsters in various areas.
I ALSO know for CERTAIN that the loot table includes pure junk items, and items that make NO SENSE with regards to the difficulty.
IE, I recently managed to find a group to venture into the lands south of Naskel. This is a miracle for me, and I rarely get the chance to go down there.
What did I find?
empty ale bottles, small silver rings, and other items that would be more common on kobolds and the like then big honkin' critters that would make a kobold wet their pants and run home to momma.
So, is it random? Kinda sorta. But it's randomness is based on a back-end table that has all the loot items listed, and it just randomly throws effects on it as well as names. Doesn't necessarily mean the enhancements are actually consistent with the difficulty of the area though.

Re: Looting twice in quick succession gives the same loot
I have noticed when a "boss"/yellow named mob spawns with one ore more normal named ones next to it , if the "normal" mobs had any loot in it's drop the yellow named would get the exact same loot along with it's own extras .
This has happened to me quite a few times with the weird/unique item names to be sure of it .

Re: Looting twice in quick succession gives the same loot
So whats up with looting a chest right after someone else and it being empty a significant portion of the time? I mean even if I wait 2-3 rounds it is usually nothing but a torch or something they left behind if anything at all.
