A young druid by the name of Dangar has arrived in Nashkel and has begun an effort to rally the locals to aid him in planting trees and rebuilding the forest. He has also been seen aiding the town of Nashkel in keeping at bay the giants that roam near the town.

Battered, burned, bruised, and obviously beaten a young woman was plucked off the side of the road a little north of Beregost by a party of adventurers. They were at first alerted that all was not well with the woman by the way she walked, much like a shambling corpse than anything. When they beheld her face they saw it was like a sunken pit, her eyes screaming from the agony within.

The adventures took her to the temple of Ilmater. At first, the woman offered a formidable resistance. She bit, clawed, snarled, kicked at her saviors. After some time she became exhausted and ceased to protest.

On their return to Beregost the woman would not stop mumbling about "Him" and "Darker Powers". Indeed, her eyes darted fearfully around, as if searching for some unseen threat. She asked one of the adventurers in a fearful tone: "Your not taking me to Him, are you?" Upon further questioning she would not state His name, she could barely control her shivering.

When taken to the temple numerous incantations were cast over her to try and return the woman to a normal state. The healers detected the presence of vast amounts of evil energy flowing withing her, so they attempted to purify her. At this the woman became a frightful thing to behold. Screaming, gnawing, clawing, screeching, and uttering curses at the healers. But this did not last for long. Once again she grew weary of struggling and the healers were able to mend her as best they could.

The healers have been keeping a steady eye on her. She is recovering rather nicely but is still in great shock. She refuses to speak with anyone, her eyes dart around the room nervously. The only thing they have been able to get out of her is a name she wrote on a small piece of paper that she gave to one of the healers. The name Zor'than.

As the Aquatic rumors of the adventurers stop a Water genasi is seen swiming towards the Docks of the city, with help of a Dock worker the Genasi climbs upon the Dock and with out a word walks off.

Later that day the Local tailor begins to boast about tricking a genasi into trading her rare water resistant clothing for a raggy and a metal mask.

The now masked woman stalks into the tavern and begins to rant with a metallic voice "Theives and fools you all are! thise land belongs to Illikalian! your aboleth lord! and you dar-" she gets cut off by laughter and one patron even throws a mug at the woman, with out further a word she fled hysterical crowd grumbling at her inability to inspire fear.

She is last seen running out of the city gates.

A moon elf woman can be seen every evening at approximately the same time, clad in muted greens and browns, speaking to any who will listen, and many who will not, about the Cloakwood.

She seems intent on trying to convince the peoples not to harvest wood, or mine too deeply in the caves, as the creatures of the wild, and the Fey peoples, are very upset, almost to the point of retaliation. She is very persuasive and diplomatic with her words, attempting to appeal to the greater good in people.

Rumors creep up out of Nashkel about two men, an elf and a human having words with one another rather loudly.

Normally this is not worth notice, till one man, someone who appears to have the garb of the weave masters stated that he has worked with no other evil then drow. That the "law" is not always the "right" thing.

As it is with guards and rangers, lips are loose and ale wets the whistle well.
Soon this curious encounter spins into a life of it's own, wondering what others of the mage order might be dancing with darkness.

Those hearing word of such tales may also hear that the now-reclusive Valenthel Wyndsoul has been seen dressed in noble's finery, magic shimmering about his person as he makes his way quickly and purposefully from the Palace District to the Istari Tower...

Those that recall the tales of the brothers Wyndsoul, and their family before them know what this could mean..

The populace at large is now aware of the fact that Merielle Williams of Ilmater is known to have given "special favors" to acquire large donations for the temple on at least three separate counts.

There was more than one who spied two figures, shrouded in darkness, near the Shrine of Mielikki. They were discussing something but it is unknown what. They spoke during the cover of night and shadow covered them.

Rarely do two under the cover of darkness not make a dark pact. Fear and Shadow shall rule.

News around the trade way speaks of a recent slaying of two drow near the temple of Bhaal. Those who witnessed the act speak of a man dressed in black that dragged a near-dead drow to the nearby camp only to then slay his life a step away from the camp. The slayer together with another burned the body afterwards to make an example of it. Witnesses say both of them referred to themselves as Night Hunters.

Rumors pass from lip to ear about elementals and golems being seen in Gullykin. The word is the hins have employed a "Protector" of their little village. The contructs and summons are busy erecting a tower for the mage to reside, pulling the stone from some place other than near the village. Yet none are seen leaving...
Rumors spread that the tower being constructed by golems and elementals has reached completion. None in the village have seen the "Sage of Gullykin" enter or exit the tower, yet the wards are obviously active. The halflings of Gullykin leave jugs of mead and fresh produce on the steps of the tower, and throw a festival that lasts throughout the night.

There have been a series of murders at the Sanctuary of Ilmater. Rumor has it, the slain were elderly and sick people going to the temple to be treated or get food. Three have been killed so far, and its said that of those taken, some have been turned into the walking dead, while others have been dismembered, their body parts scattered around the city.

Flaming Fist activity at the Sanctuary has increased, and the doors to the once always open hospital are being closed at dusk and barred from within. Sister Abby, a healer of the temple witnessed the villian as he fled the Sanctuary after his last grizzly episode, but saw only a masked man drapped in strange clothing adorned with bones. He wielded a pair of shortswords. While the identity of the murderer remains unknown, he has left a wake of fear among the commoners of Baldur's Gate. Meanwhile, the Sanctuary of Ilmater stands empty. The sick and homeless begin to feel they are safer looking for food in a Troll's den than Baldur's Gate's once beloved Sanctuary. Sister Abby assures people that the nightmare will end soon, and that Ilmater's temple will reopen at night when it does.

Some on the street wonder at the wisdom of a defensless temple full of pacifists picking a fight with the cult of Bhaal, chalking this one up to cause and effect, though lamenting at the loss of the one place that was actually trying to do something good for the city's poor and down-trodden.

Already hunger and sickness are beggining to become a problem in the docks.

Each of the killings within the temple of Illmater, rumour has it, were often accompanied by a note. A page of parchment with a laughing skull on one side, and various words on the other.

This may be the work of something entirely different, not Bhaalists at all so the streets are saying.
