Divine axe thrower
I've been toying around with a build 27 ranger 3 cleric , basic jest is divine epic might might axe thrower with HIPS.
Here is the basic summary:
1: You got with a small shield which nets you 40 AC with out divine shield.
2: UMD hits 26 tops, not sure if this is enough.
3: Saves are alright, nothing special.
4: Hide/MS is low since you only go with 14 dex.
5: Throws with many shot for about 99 a hit.
6 Bane and a wide group of favored enemies.
7 Bit feat starved
9 Deity Darkness/luck domain
10 Race wood elf
Any ideas how to improve this build?
I was also wondering if North lander Hewing would be beneficial for this build, currently it is not working on the test server.

Northlander hewing doesn't work with ranged weapons.

Will be hard to pump up charisma to where it will be worthwhile chasing divine might

Re: Divine axe thrower
I would do this build with the 11 levels of Ranger, 10 of which on the Hunter class to get free Manyshot, plus at least 8 levels in Man at Arms for armored efficiency and at least 3 of blackguard for EDM and saves.
This way you can leave your dexterity very low while still grabbing all the feats you want and having great AC in heavy armor - with uncanny dodge so you don't lose the dodge boosts from M@A. As far as I know the Man at Arms abilities should boost your throwing weapon damage as well.
Overall this build should have better AC, saves and I believe damage than yours but unless you take fighter as well, which becomes a cross-class nightmare, this build has less feat goodies like Blindfight I think.
However, I do wonder if we're still not better off going 100% on strength, with some extra juice in Constitution since HPs are overpowered.
Edit: And I would forget about HIPSing!

Re: Divine axe thrower
I've been messing around a bit with the build.
- You need light armor, ranger feats don't work with heavy armor on.
These are the results all with the same gear and +4 axes.
Build 1- 21 ranger 5 elemental 3 cleric ends 45 AC 300HP and hits on an average of 65
Build 2- 11 ranger 10 anointed 5 element archer 4 fighter= 45 AC 358 average hit 65 STR
Build 3 - 11 ranger 10 anointed knight 5 element archer 3 cleric= 43 AC 350 HP 75 damage a hit +best saves. (hits 45 without divine might) (this build ends up with 24 charisma). (could drop EA and 5 levels out of ranger) So basically you could add 10 of something else. 10 divine champion for AC and saves.
Build 4: 21 Barb 6 ranger 3 Elemental archer; 48 AC 564 HP 68 hit
Build 5: 6 Ranger 21 Barb 3 cleric.
Build 1: Aside from hanging HIPS to force mobs to de target you , it does the least. If you go ranger/BG you end up feat starved but with high saves.
Build 2 STR build requires the least buffs to pump out consistent damage and sticks at 45 AC, it won't be able to use UMD unless you lower the damage.
Build 3: Can buff yourself to 54 AC, hit for 75 damage on average and got solid saves. Down side are your limited charges UMD + elemental resistance will lower the damage. Though you could take AE out and put 10 Div or 10 fighter.
Build 4: You swap damage for endurance and rage for EDM.
Build 5: With both CD's popped you have 55 AC and hit for 90 average up to 130 crit. You need 13 dex for improved rapid shot and 6 ranger to make it work.
Same problem as build 3. You'll run through your cooldowns and with out you hit like a wet noodle.

Re: Divine axe thrower
On the matter of DC notice that Divine Wrath was buffed, it's on a 5 minutes cooldown, lasts half the character's Divine Champion levels + Charisma modifier (capped at 10 rounds) and gives you +5 AB, +5 divine damage (and DR 5/-).

Re: Divine axe thrower
Divine Wrath starts at +3 to hit and + 3 divine damage.
It becomes +5 at level 10. Something to consider if you are not taking DC to level 10.
Still a very nice boost

Re: Divine axe thrower
DC bonus feats are useless for this build as you cannot wear heavy armor.
I think I'll roll with 6 Ranger 3 cleric 11 fighter 10 Anointed knight, it gave solid damage and AC.
As woodelf you still take exp pen but ah well.

The Hunter kits feats will work with Heavy Armor, you'll need to buy Point Blank and Improved Rapid on your own though.

Re: Divine axe thrower
I might overlook it, but how do I pick the hunter kit? I don't see the feat/ class pick anywhere.
With that build you could drop some damage for an AC boost, sadly I can't test that build anywhere.
12 hunter/10 AK/3 cleric/ 5 EA
