Client extension and windows 10 fps problems

I've been running into a couple of problems since I've gotten a new PC.
Basic info setup.

16g ram
8700k
1070 TI
120 HZ monitor
Windows 10


- Problem occurs no matter if I force Nwn2 to use 120hz or 60hz.

- With out client extension the screen is shaking, especially text while moving leaves ' ghosts trails' .

- With the client extension my FPS is dipping towards 30 and below.
The problem still occurs bit it is slightly less.

- I've tried setting affinity, but it doesn't do anything for this.

- I've tried setting it on windows compatibility mode.

- Windowed mode does not improve it

- PC just had a fresh reinstall, it didn't solve it.

Does any one have a good solution for this problem aside from dropping down the graphics to low?

kill all and any shadows. i know you can probably DESTROY the graphics requirements, but kill them anyway. i've noticed (for me at least) that any shadows really goof things up. That, alone was my issue. Your mileage may vary, but give it a shot. Turn off shadows.

Putting shadows off improves the FPS a little, but it is still poor in cities and such.
It's at least playable , just looks ugly and runs choppy and runs worse than on my 2600k 680GTX.
On nw2's defense it has always run like trash, but this is taking the cake atm.
Without the client extension I can put everything high with a good FPS, but the constant screen shaking and letters leaving ghost images is too much.
With the client extension it just cuts my FPS down by 200+.

I was hoping there was some NVIDIA setting or some other way to get this to run without the client extension.

Waaait a minute..I just glanced over your original post again.

You said WITHOUT the Client Extension it's a problem? I'm afraid without the client extension, I can't help ya. it's GOING to be buggy as hell without it, simply because it's not built around the newer rigs of today.

All I can say is run the client extension, but as for the randomness of the graphics..that's something else, hrm.... Can you give us some screenshots of your issue? It's a little hard to grasp from your words so far. I'm afraid I can't help with what I don't understand as yet.

Try disabling 'Wait for Vertical Sync'

Make sure your monitor is plugged into your graphics card, not your motherboard.

Also you don't really want to run the game without the client extension on...well any components newer components and OS. The client extension fixes a lot of issues with new processor and GPU structures as well as windows compatibility...it will also allow you to manually set affinity for all processor cores so you don't have to run the game through a single core.

neither of these will work without extension

If you are running G-Sync for your high frekvency monitor might wanna disable that too.

Oh and I just rememberd...there was an issue with C++ redist package, the game needs a fairly old one from like 2008 latest, you might wanna track it down and install it, it won't show up as issue when running the game but it does for toolset I think and some of the game resources use it too

Update after some testing.

I managed to find all C++ redist packages, one of them appears to make it a lot better.
Isn't perfect but it runs smoother.

It usually is something stupid.

In a case where I recently fixed (Crosses fingers):

I had my documents folder, somehow, compressed. How and why, I've no clue. Thank Windows I guess. Either way, on occasion when I attempted to login, I'd immediately hard-crash the rig and reboot. Uncompressed, and now it runs fine.

NWN is very, very, very weird.

Problem persists in most area's, last time it was pretty good because it was night in game.
I'm considering a complete fresh install/Hak DL with neverwinter night and see if that does the trick.

I can't come up with anything else at this point.

Did you re-install the directX 9 runtime ? If not try it.

Fixed the problem and it was indeed something I overlooked.
Windows 10 wasn't running nwn2 in direct x 9.
What I did was this

1: Download all direct run packages
2: Windows features /legacy components/direct play
3: On the nwn2 main file I put: -force-d3d9

Boot game with out client extension and getting 130 FPS in baldurs gate instead of 30 with everything on high.
