All dogs are currently named 'dog', there are three options but nothing to separate the choice in the character creator. They're all 3 alike mechanically but have a different appearance set.
For anyone running into this problem they are, top to bottom
top dog = dalmation
middle dog = herd dog
bottom dog = german shepherd type dog
