Enenra moves down to the bridge, bringing with him a few more sets of supplies for his barricade. He begins moving the formation of the wall around, creating a pass for people to enter and leave, before a haunting voice appears behind him.
"Come on soldier, set up the barricade correctly!"
He spins around, irritated, sweat trickling across his form and drenching his clothing. He casts a spell of Dry over himself and glowers, doing his best to maintain appearances. He leans back down, adjusting the stone.
"Can't you move any faster? Molasses in Chult moves quicker than you up-hill!" The dark-clothed halfling girl chirps at him, a deadpan expression on her face.
"Shut up, you librarian-looking, mousey little imp!" Enenra grunts, adjusting his barricade to the perfect alignment finally.
The halfling stared at him for a moment,
before moving behind him and pitching up several tents behind the barricade.
After setting up his barricade formation - which he spent some time refining over the last 'eve in the Ebon Blade's library - he takes up formation. He is met by a pleasant surprise, as the Ebon Blade's Druid Skallagrim.
Receiving a pleasing compliment Astere regarding the nature of his barricade, Enenra glows with pride for a few meager moments at his handiwork before he sobers up again. Gazing across that bridge, he twitches, always wary, always watching.
He and Skallagrim stay for some time together, passing idle words against the pale glow of the moon-light as they watch. The bridge remains silent but watch they must, for their duty compels them. Signed in blood and sweat and paid for in silver and gold are both of their lives, for now.
Enenra sighs softly, complementing his next research project as he gazes into that abyss that forms the sky on the other side of the bridge. Perhaps he'd work on creating a new spell, next. Or perhaps he would write a book. The thoughts left him as suddenly as they had arrived. He began to reach that zen state, blinking and shaking his head softly to snap himself out of it.
He would be a good watcher for the Ebon Blades. He would not allow his thoughts to distract him from his job. And he would get paid for his troubles.
