Mists roiled and formed in a sickly, pallid fog across the Winding Way River. The edges of which had been rumored sighted to be as close as the Boareskyr Bridge. Across the way, men and women in dark garb went to work. Any other folk dressed, and armed, in dark and drab colors might easily be mistaken for brigands, or bandits. But these men and women all bore one unifying symbol, black badges of dark metal, a black sword point down over a dark circle.
Tents are drawn up, the same sigil sewn onto their sides. Tents for sleeping troops, another for wounded, future or present, and others for command meetings and supplying food to the troops. Boxes of supplies, foodstuffs, and implements of battle have begun to be moved in a supply line.
With nearly half of the Charlie Company under Sergeant Chester committed to the Winding Way frontline, the Alpha and Bastard Companies have been recalled home. Each company split between guarding the Boareskyr Bridge and Soubar.
Under the orders of Captain Greil Nightgale, the Ebon Blade company has begun its preparations to defend its home. Sergeant Dunn and his Bastard Company are making their stand on the bridge.
Back in Soubar, other preparations are underway. Alpha Company’s men and women are setting about the keep, keeping tracks of supplies as they are sorted, counted, and moved. Inspecting the keep grounds for signs of wear, and enacting any needed repairs. Preparation drills are practiced and most of the sellswords are working double shifts on watch or at training. All of this is accompanied by a steady flow of personnel – those heading to the front, those preparing for the bridge defenses, and those maintaining the home of the Ebon Blade company.
