Blood Magic in the Underdark

Hey, quick question.

How would the mages of Sshamath look at one of their number using blood magic? Would they see it as a fair/alternative means of accumulating power? Or would they see the person practicing blood magic as a liability or even be actively hostile to anyone using it?

Since blood magic has never been a thing for me prior to BG and NWN2.. it's hard to give you an answer as I think it's just server lore as opposed to canon.

If it gives power, it seems a legit tool for ruthless mages to use.

Drow will do anything for power so.. make a sense they would use it.. Thayan circle magic also seems to have a logical synergy with using blood in combination with magic energy.

The class states that no civilised region welcomes it though.. but it's not the first time a custom class description has not been accurate.

Provided you do not irritate your superiors anything goes in Drow dom. You would have to be more worried about mage rivals targeting you because they worry you.might get an edge if they don't deal with you.

If you drain slaves to conduct powerful magics that benefit the city or your School.. what Drow would care only on principle. None I think.

There is also nothing explicitly Orcy about it. It does not reference a diety or race specific teaching like even arcane archers or dwarves defenders/berserkers. Orcs also arrived on until after the Elves, whose province is that of High Magic. It seems highly unlikely blood magic would be undiscovered by all except the Orcs, so when it became popular with them it mustve already been around. Again this leads me to think a Drow would consider the magic an option were the teachings available and of interest. Same for Reds or any evil esque mage. Even neutrals may use it unless Sms rule it is pure evil plain and simple, in which case back to evil.
