Hello All!
I am holding a contest for a player driven event idea. Winner of the contest will receive 250,000 gold. There is no second or third place, sorry.
Submissions are to be sent to me via PM. I will pick the best one and announce it on this thread. We can then pick a time and date to get you paid out.
Event should revolve around the following criteria, and should be completely player run. NO DM REQUIRED (save for maybe blank character verification)
1. Span multiple maps linked to each other. Preferably starting out in a town.
2. Two opposing parties of six players each, each party must represent good and evil. (Yes, there may be PVP involved; if you don't like that, oh well)
3. The twelve players should all be blank level tens. (NO ITEMS, NO GOLD)
4. Each character is limited to a single class.
5. Each team will receive 50,000 gold to purchase equipment.
6. Both teams are working to achieve the same goal. (try and integrate ideas that will promote conflict)
7. There must be a clear RP driven path to achieve each goal/reward.
8. Skill rolls to progress is a must. Try not to get outlandish with these. (keep in mind, single class only restrictions)
9. The maps chosen must be CR13-CR14 as to provide some level of difficulty.
10. Create a set of encounters on the path. Encounters can be puzzles, traps, bosses that can be created via summon spells, etc.. use your imagination.
11. I will provide a budget of 50k for props (scrolls, teleports, etc..)
You get the idea.
After the winner is chosen, I will be in touch with you to refine the idea so we can put together an actual event. You and I will then act as DMs during the event to keep things rolling.
Just an FYI: Winning team of the event will receive a 300,000 reward.
Thanks!

Re: Player Driven Event (250K Reward!)
So many fun ideas for this server...
...but the reality of it is they never do quite work.
Im trying to think how all this would work. It's a fun idea, but as you can see by the replies....

You would be lucky to get 3 v 3 online all at once and able to play for a few hours all at once. In fact, even getting 6 people to agree to play out a scenario over a logn period of time is really quite difficult if they are going to give up their mains for it.2. This really makes things super complicated. You might try noob level 1s. Some people really like noob level 1. I know I loved it.3. The twelve players should all be blank level tens. (NO ITEMS, NO GOLD)

Heya man! I love the idea your proposing but I feel there are just a few good and bads with the whole thing. Maybe a few revisions could make it more appealing to people. (Maybe not)Avanos wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2020 9:00 pm Hello All!

1. Even though your looking to set alot of prerequisites and stipulations towards how the good and evil sides are balanced. In reality there is never really a balance. Sure. . . You could make it so both parties all do their events in a secluded area but the game itself is not balanced towards good and evil aligned players and I feel alot of players who would partake in a cool good vs evil setting would start to point fingers if one side were just better players and better class builders then the other. Even with the rule for base classes, a person could really make a over-tuned class of anything that could trump alot of people single-handedly. Take it from me. . . I've devoted alot of time to power-building and if I was part of your event, if there were newer players who were also partaking it would not be fun or fair.
2. I'm a huge fan of conflict RP. If you've been following any of my RP at all over the years alot of my character hooks and plots have alot of conflict involved. The only issue is conflict without a good setting or reason for the conflict can be naturally toxic. Take it from me ive been down the road of simply making an evil toon just to be evil and kill people. (People don't like dealing with the over-zealous paladin or power hungry warmonger) People don't like evil characters just for the sake of being evil nor good characters for the sake of being good and really won't tolerate them. So I feel coming up with a good hook or plot for the conflict between both factions ahead of time will help ease a small crowd into seeing if they want to partake in what your offering. I feel if you have at-least a small concept and hook already laid out then it would help credit your idea greatly! <3
3. Timing. . . Alot of players on BG are already busy enough. Some have guilds in the server they are a part of. Others have IRL jobs that take up 10 hours of their day. And others just want to play on their mains instead of making a new character for what "looks" like a little skit that will be slapped together and eventually either die out or end abruptly once the scene that was originally set for this RP re-enactment reaches it's end. It would be a real waste of time and a real waste of story telling and character development if i'm honest. But hey that's just my opinion for all I know you could get the ball rolling with 6 people 2 weeks from now and create an arc that last months even years! But from my perspective without a stable vision you have set yourself, it will make starting up something like this more difficult.
4. Out-side interaction? I don't really know what the rules of outside interaction would be? Because without a clear rule enforcing that, I feel that the evil side of this plot would be pushed out of it in an instant if outside guilds and factions start to hear about the fighting and would want to lend their aid in stopping the evil forces from doing anything. Playing evil as it is right now is already hard enough. You really lack any kind of RP interaction unless your guild-mates are on or it's a DM event. Most of your time is spent scheming by yourself. And unless your literally a bad-azz build anywhere you go you risk getting came upon by random do-gooders who look to turn you in and throw you in jail. It's a hard knock life out there and without a clear rule with interactive suppression your little lvl 10 posse of bandits and highwaymen are going to have a rough time.
Just my two cents,
Rain.

All feedback is welcome, and I do not mind changing the criteria.
