Computing Question (and Hello Again....
Hello,
Been a long time but was thinking about making my way back to BGTSCC after being gone a couple years. Life being what it is, been busy, but of late I have been missing RP and now with my kids older, I think I can spare an odd hour....
Anyways, I had my high end personal laptop stolen about a year ago and I am looking to get a bargain price replacement that can run this game (have a work laptop, so don’t need it for much else besides maybe running kids math and reading apps for daughter).
Here is one I found:
https://www.officedepot.com/a/products/ ... gLD6PD_BwE
My question is, can this Lenovo Thinkpad run BGTSCC efficiently?
Thanks in advance,
Mav

Re: Computing Question (and Hello Again....
probably you need to choose a laptop with a good built in graphics card like a gaming laptop
my PC runs smooth nwn2 with my old system
-i3 processor
-100G SSD hard disk
-8g hyper x ram
-windows 8
-GTX680 graphics card
but after i change to GTX750Ti(after the GTX680 got burned), nwn2 does not run as smoothly as before and i cant multi task with two monitors and open many applications anymore while playing the game.
im not an IT tech but surely it is because of graphics card change so i suggest at least you pick a laptop with the minimum requirement to play nwn2.

Thank you Izzul!
I will take that into consideration.

you'll want something with a video card. It doesn't have to be a high end video card, just a video card, as NWN2 is pretty old.
Check out a Lenovo Legion Y540, or perhaps an Asus TUF Gaming, those tend to be under 1k, around 600-700$ and all have proper video cards. I believe Dell may have some options as well, but I think the Asus and Legions are better than Dell's options.

I don't even know if they sell PCs/laptops that couldn't run this game playerside anymore. I'm sure you can get a laptop that could do it between $200-$300, maybe cheaper if you find a deal. Just don't get the Wal-mart cheap computer though, because they tend to be junk parts.

Re: Computing Question (and Hello Again....
The short answer is:
Yes.
The long answer is:
You should spend a few more bucks and get a dedicated video card.
With a bit of Google-fu, the one you have found has the following specs:
Video Card: Intel UHD Graphics 620
CPU: Intel Core i3-8145U
Memory: 8 GB
If you want to test different setups, and test it against the requirements (of any game), you can use the following:
https://technical.city/en/system-requirements
The test, using the above specs, will say that it exceeds the recommended requirements. However that is to be taken with a grain of salt due to the intregrated video card. No doubt it will run, and run well . . But if you try to do other things in the meantime? Probably could face some issues.

I bought this one 4 years ago and it ran NWN2 fine when I was playing on the server. Based on Amazon it is no longer available, but maybe it gives you some ideas about the type of things to look for in a new laptop.

Re: Computing Question (and Hello Again....
I'm still playing on like.... a 6 or 7 year old machine? The only thing that I've updated is the video card(Geforce Gtx 1050ti), and added a solid state for my OS to run off of. Like the others said, find something without an integrated video card, that has a newer generation processor, and at least 8 to 12gb of ram, and you're set.
There are no level 30's, only level 20's with benefits...

Actually this reminds me... On the laptop I posted I did change out the ram to get 8gb, but that is the only thing I did to it and it ran NWN2 without any hiccups.Snarfy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 9:28 am I'm still playing on like.... a 6 or 7 year old machine?
