More noob and monk questions
Hi Everyone,
After playing on here for little while now, I have come up with some questions - some build related, some not. Figured I'd just list them here. I'm very grateful to how helpful and responsive this community is.
1. Greater flurry? I recently had a char get level 11 monk and greater flurry, it says I should have 4 attacks/round, but for the life of me every encounter it seems like I'm only getting 3. Yes I have FOB mode active, my character sheet shows 4 attacks, but I swear I'm just seeing 3 in the log. Thoughts? If this is a bug, then it is a real bummer because I was really looking forward to that extra attack per round.
2. Circle Kick? On paper this looks like a great feat for handling crowds and just outputting more damage per round, but I don't see many recommending or taking it. What's the deal here?
3. Cleave - Like Circle Kick, Cleave seems like it would be great to add more damage output especially around crowds, but again don't see many people recommending this for monks. Thoughts?
4. Dodge Feat's AC bonus and Weapon Focus bonus not showing up on character sheet? I notice that when I take Dodge feat it doesn't seem to show up as another +1 AC on my character sheet. Same goes for Weapon Focus, I don't see a +1 Attack Bonus reflected on sheet. Is this a known thing. If so are the bonuses really there, just not showing up on character sheet? Or I am just missing something, thanks.
4. Best inventory "slots" for each type of enchantment buff? I'm wondering what's the common knowledge on which buffs are bet for each inventory/clothing slot.
For example, I see that in some cases Natural Armor seems primarily to be on the necklace slot - pretty straightforward. Boots seem to be the place for your Dodge AC bonus, check. But stuff like Deflect can be found on cloaks, helmets, belts, etc. Which one is the best place to put that AC bonus? Also many stat buffs seem to span many slots. Just wondering if there is a general consensus on which slots are best reserved for which type of bonus.
5. Is the "bank" feature cross account or just per character?
6. Are pack horses primarily used so you can carry lots of loot before going into town to sell it? If so, where do people usually park their pack horse before delving into dangerous spots?
Thanks!

-then after B is dead back to A.
-while attacking A, circle kick will hit B(which is already dead) few more times before changing back to hit A(not dead yet)
-circle kick will keep hitting target bodies(which is already dead) until the bodies disappear.
4. Yes, dodge feat's AC bonus does not show up on character sheet.(tested using dodge cloak/ring) compared to Tumble dodge AC because you only get +1 AC against the target who last attacked you, or the one currently attacking you. [good for 1v1]

Flurry of Blows does show up on the character sheet. Try deactivating/reactivating to see if it fixes it. Note you will actually see 5 attacks in the combat log, but only 4 show up on the character sheet. There is a bugged extra attack with flurry and greater flurry at the end of the sequence, which is what makes the sneak attack builds with monk dip so strong (5 sneak attacks out of HiPS vs. 4 thanks to bugged flurry giving 3 attack w/ PTWF instead of 2).Bobbydean wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 10:48 pm 1. Depends on the build. If you do enough damage to kill 1 enemy every round than Cleave can be good. Otherwise meh, there are probably better/more important feats to take.
Natural Armor - Necklace onlyBobbydean wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 10:48 pm 4. Best inventory "slots" for each type of enchantment buff? I'm wondering what's the common knowledge on which buffs are bet for each inventory/clothing slot.

Dodge AC - Boots only
Armor AC - Chest only
Shield AC - shield only (or shield wand/potion/item)
Deflection AC - can be on rings, gloves, head gear, cloaks or belts. Best slot depends on what you have in other slots. If you are lucky enough to find a monk belt (super ultra-rare) than you will definitely not want to use that slot for deflection, for example. With a new-ish character I'd say for quite some time you will just use whatever slot gives you the best bonus. I mean are you going to be picky and wear a ring +3 if you find a headband/helmet with +4 deflection? Once you can afford epic gear many moons from now you can be more selective about working toward your most efficient loadout of equipment.
iirc it cannot be shared between characters.
depends on many factors, some of which would include PC STR (how often they need to unload so they can go get more stuff), which area they are going to (and where the nearest safe place to leave the packhorse is) and their ability to keep the horse safe or how much they care if the horse dies (since you can pay to have your stuff retrieved to a new horse for example). Kind of feel like IC you should consider where your PC would think a good spot to leave the horse might be.

recommend only using pack horse for consumables, item stacks you are building up, or trash loot you are going to sell.
Do not store any valuable items on your pack horse.

Flurry of blows shows up on char sheet fine. But when I check combat log, I only see 3 attacks, not 4. Oh well, I'll just hope/trust that all 4 are happening regardless of the log.chad878262 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 9:43 amFlurry of Blows does show up on the character sheet. Re: More noob and monk questions
This is a good point, but would be a bad decision for a Monk since you'll want EB+4 and/or on hit properties or bonus damage on your gloves slot.
This is definitely odd... You may want to get in to a fight that lasts several rounds and take screen shot(s) to show round to round how many attacks you are getting. I would think you would get 5 per round (4 from GFoB + 1 bugged attack) so your flurries for each round would be 2/2/1.

monk belt (super ultra-rare)
^
I remember back in the day monk belt was not a super ultra-rare things. How things have changed over time.
But I now I feel like a stud that I do have one of those for "Ages" past.
Based on my observation of my monk with Circle Kick, the circle kick issue only really happens when we kill the enemy in our 1st flurry of attacks, since circle kick will only trigger once a round and the chances are -- it will trigger right after your 1st flurry.
So it's like this:
1st Flurry - Circle Kick, 2nd Flurry, 3rd Flurry, (End of Round 1)
In my opinion, it's still worth it to use it if it's managed probably, but I would not spend feats buying it since there is an epic boot with the feat.
Cleave - requires Power Attack -- So it's 2 feats for Cleave -- there are many better feats out there for monk than those 2 feats.

I'll follow your recommendation and check after a long fight. Maybe I a getting 2/2/1. If not, will go from there. Thanks!chad878262 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 4:11 pmThis is a good point, but would be a bad decision for a Monk since you'll want EB+4 and/or on hit properties or bonus damage on your gloves slot.
