Warning: Appearance Kit is locking up

I just had the Appearance Kit lock up my character two times in a row. For clarity, this is for the App Kit purchased at vendor--not the appearance changer accessed from lower left menu in game.

I've used the App Kit hundreds of times before. Over the past year, I've noticed that occasionally it can no longer be activated; logging out and back usually fixes this. However, never before tonight has it completely locked up my character. If not for a DM being online, I would have been completely hosed.

For diagnostics, the item that I was trying to alter is the Elven Long Sword +3 purchased from the Doron Amar blacksmith. I've used the App Kit to change this sword's appearance many times before and never had any issue. My location was in the FAI zone, just outside the keep.

When the App Kit locked up, its interface disappeared. At that point I was no longer able to take any action. Trying to move or rotate or pull up inventory resulted in this message: "Torvok is unable to equip due to a status effect." Also, my sword disappeared from inventory -- ACK!!

Thanks to the DM, when I was ported to the Fugue my character freed up and my sword showed up properly in my inventory.

So if you're using the App Kit, I would suggest being extremely careful and taking screenshots of any item you try to alter. I know this has always been recommended, but I've never found it necessary until now.

At this point I'm afraid to even activate the Appearance Kit again. Hopefully someone on the dev team can take a look under the hood and see what's going on.

I've noticed this too.

It usually happens when i hit "esc" to exit out of the interface.

When I get the "status effect" message, a quick re-log fixes it for me.

Also - noticed that the app changer will un-equip the item I am trying to change. I then have to exit the interface, re-equip and change again for it to un-equip again. There is a fix for this as well: Before you alter appearance, select color, tint#1 and just press accept. Then you will be able to change appearance without the item being un-equipped. Exiting the interface will reset this fix, and you will need to do it again.

When I logged out and back today, my character was still locked up and my sword was still missing.

When the DM ported me to the fugue, then my character was freed again and the sword reappeared.

Never had this happen before today.

I also have similar experiences. When I was using the appearance kit, I shut down the game accidentally. Then when I relog in I was stuck in the "unable to move status effect." It seems a server reset will fix this.
