Does the Taunt skill work here?
My fighter is level 6 and has 12 points in the Taunt skill. But I can't seem to get it working no matter what I try.
When I activate the skill -- either by hotkey or by R-click from Fighter skills menu -- it just seems to get locked up in action queue at top of screen.
For example, if I activate it two times in a row, I can see the icon appear twice in the action queue. It's like the first activation gets hung up and won't fire off.
Anyone got any tips on how to properly use Taunt? A little help would be much appreciated.

I use it in a hotbar. Highlight target, click the button (or vice versa - it is a targeted action). Works every time - at least as of a week ago.

you need to cancel all your other queued hotbar actions
or just use it as first action to engage a fight.

Also realize there are two Taunts, the vanilla Taunt and the BGTSCC custom Taunt that Valefort scripted. The latter is what you must use to have in the Toolbar, and that will apply to whatever mob you have currently selected (otherwise it gives you the Select cursor to choose with).
It is definitely a great SkillFeat to have, since -2 AC on all foes in range is greatly beneficial to both solo and group play.

Re: Does the Taunt skill work here?
Ummm... "TWO" Taunts? I was not aware of that.
I see there is the original Taunt under the Skills tab, plus a second Taunt included under the Feats tab. I assume Val's custom version (i.e., the one that I/we want to use) is the version listed in the Feats tab.
Thanks all, I appreciate the feedback. And I'm very happy to hear Taunt still works because it's a great skill for Fighters who already don't have many skills to pick from.

Re: Does the Taunt skill work here?
The difference is one works (Feat to Hotbar) and one doesn’t (dragging Skill to hotbar.
I forget what the original problem was—I think it was about targeting mobs—but the Great and Sorely Missed Valefort did fix it up right.
I use Taunt for many of my PCs because a -2 AC is worth plenty of Feats...plus, it’s good old RP gold to taunt others with a skill role and watch those players get annoyed because they know they should react IC being enraged by words spoken but are OOC cross because they don’t want to “go along” with your dual mechanics + RP investment in character. LOL.

I use it also and have always (and just yesterday) only ever used the skill icon (dragged into hotbar) - it works well

If you are in the middle of combat and want to taunt, you have to left click the attack option in the queue to remove it because the game will continue queueing the attack action up after each round passes. This is just a fallacy of the engine.

Not true when using the Feat version scripted by Valefort!c2k wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 3:26 pmQuoting for truth.Theodore01 wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 3:47 am you need to cancel all your other queued hotbar actions

Wow- the feat is nice to use
On the other side it's spamming a voiceover each time.

I never realized the voiceover! Though, I usually have sound turned down to 1 (cause ugh, I can't stand hearing grunts when attacking things).

Re: Does the Taunt skill work here?
It works!!
I hotbarred the feat version of Taunt and it functions exactly as intended. Meaning it doesn't get hung up in the action queue like if you hotbar the skill version of Taunt.
Fires off perfectly fine at the start of a fight--whether up close or at a slight distance from foes--or in the middle of a fight. The graphic shows which mobs get affected.
Have not noticed an issue with the voiceover. I can't see that bothering me too much, as this combat debuff is well worth such a minor annoyance.
Thanks guys!!!

Re: Does the Taunt skill work here?
It's a great skill. Just yesterday I was running the Durlag's Labyrinth with a guy who upgraded Taunt skill in a Rogue20/Shadowdancer10 build just for fun and we were talking about how impressed we were by the range of this skill. Using it to start a fight in some areas is really great.
