Dual-Wielding bugs Power Attack

Unread post by zhazz »

Description
The character sheet display incorrect values for the bonus damage from Power Attack, when switching to Two-Handed after using Dual-Wielding. The penality to AB is still displayed, but the bonus damage is not.

The following doesn't fix the bug:
  • Resting
  • Swapping weapons
  • Changing area
The following fixes the bug:
  • Relogging the character

Additional information
The bug has presented itself more than once, so it is not just a fluke. On the 24th of May, and the 25th of May, both 2020.
Both times in the East Chionthar Ruins.

After relogging the character today (25th May 2020) to fix the bug I have not been able to reproduce it.
However, the relogging occured when in the city of Baldur's Gate.

What exactly triggers the bug is unknown, but I suspect one of the following could be the culprit, and will continue to test as able.
  • Getting into combat
  • Hitting an enemy
  • Being stunned/paralyzed
  • Great/Supreme Cleave*
  • Area related**
* = This I cannot test on my own, without creating an entirely new character, and leveling/gearing it.
** = Longshot, but due to inability to reproduce in a different area it coul be relevant. Easy to test at least.

What issues does it cause?
The bug is purely a visual one, and has no impact on performance or combat in the slightest.
it does, however, cause a minor impact on gameplay due to misinformation on the character sheet, which is a common occurrence in NWN2.

Edit: Updated to reflect that it is purely a display issue on the character sheet.

The char. sheet often isn't correct at all. You have to look at your combat log for the actual damage you do.

Good catch.

I went ahead and tested it, and the combat log displays the correct numbers.

The original post has been updated to reflect that it is purely a display issue.
