You might solicit some attention, and that would be stellar toward launching some longer term Svirf-focused RP, but the Underdark (Upper, Mid, Lower) suffers from a curse of flash-point attention, then looooooooooooooooong droughts of absolutely nothing. I would argue 95% of BGTSCC players don't want to game in a vacuum, and thus, the need to flock to where the attention already is, often takes precedence over the maybes and halfsies.

In order to balance out the lack, any initiative should have a plan, a raison d'etre, a goal-from-the-beginning...something much more than just "hanging out." Well, at least I think so! 8-)

Where is the mission? Did you just start up a Rockrun Militia force, training and planing to...something? I'm down for Svirf RP, but what is the spark that can light the flame that will turn into a blaze?!? Essentially, is there a story to build?

There is officially at least two of us running about, if anyone is interested in joining the best race in Faerun, the Svirfneblin, feel free to pop me a PM here, discord, or IG!

I dont know if they can spawn in Rockrun or not, but earth genasi would also make good allies for Rockrun for those that might be interested but not wanting to roll with the svirperior race.

So it's not a valid argument to say lack of players is due to lack of DM involvement. DMs should follow where the players are, not the other way around.

- Players want to be involved where they have fun, presumably with others since they are playing on BG.

Chad isn't wrong here. Congregating in an area with multiple PCs in a location that isn't a totally public spot with high foot traffic is the best way to attract spontaneous DM attention. If you do this regularly, you begin to hone out a niche for yourself as well. Granted it is somewhat dependant on there being a DM around during your playtimes. If the majority of your roleplay happens around a campfire or soloing, the likelihood of a DM seeing an opportunity to DM for you are very little. If ten PCs started RPing together regularly in High Hedge or The Temple of Kossuth or Corm Orp or any of the other less used but perfectly interesting areas, I would likely notice. (I would notice in the Underdark too but I don't really know the places, I just look at the area locator).

Expecting a spontaneous DM to make an event and then invite you along can happen but it's less appealing to me because I have no idea if the players that turn up are at all invested, or if they'll just consume the event walk away and never talk about it again. With player-led roleplay, this isn't the case. If player's put in the legwork themselves, organize themselves and are already roleplaying what they want to do. It takes the OOC headache off the DM and they can just focus on being a DM :).

Incidentally, this is also a good way to draw me in, provided I have any characters I'd like to throw around an area. Actually, it's interesting that I haven't seen Svirfman yet... :P
