Forum incredibly slow after migration

Unread post by zhazz »

Not sure if this is an issue only I am experiencing, but where there is one, there are usually more.

After the migration to new servers today the forum has become really slow. It used to be ~1 second load times for any page on the forum. Now it is somewhere between 4 to 5 seconds minimum.

I did get an SQL error after clicking on one of the updated RP threads, which stated that there were too many connections [1040]. Forgot to take a screenshot of it.

Previewing this message took ~12 seconds to load the first time. Second time was closer to the 4 to 5 seconds mentioned above.

My guess is that this is merely an issue of the new server having to index the moved database, and build a server-side cache? If so I can live with it for a few days.

However if the issue persists, then I can't really say I am happy with the change. I know 4 to 5 seconds doesn't sound like a lot of time, but considering what it was before it will definitely be a downgrade on my experience.

As a side note the forums is now also saying that my last visit was on the 11th of May this year, despite me being on the forums earlier today. Not sure if that is related at all.

I'm aware of the slowness and working on it.

Wiki layout has somehow changed also:
Pages like feats, spells display a single list of entries, before it used to be in columns.

Any progress?
Sites still take quite long to load.

Tentacles crossed for luck!
"They're just furry and misunderstood."
"Is that why you are killing them?"
"Yes. They will atone in death."
"Ah. That will help them understand."

The migration to the new server is finished. Now, all that remains is transferring the domain. When that's done, I can set up the wiki again. I expect that to be done in a day or two.

Unfortunately, there's no real way around that for now.

I'll keep you guys posted!
