Xenufex the Destroyer of Worlds

Unread post by Darradarljod »

This report concerns Xenufex the gauth at the end of the gnoll caves on the Lion's Way.

I was instantly killed by Xenufex after attacking him and send straight to fugue. This has been reported previously by another player here; viewtopic.php?f=30&t=72054&p=884897&hil ... er#p884897.

Here are the screenshots from myself and from what my party member's chat log presented;

Larger screenshot of companions feed shows a fort save was made after my character died - maybe I failed that and it wasnt shown in my feed.

I really think this boss mob could use a review. At the end of the day, he's generally not worth the risk for the small amount of gold he offers.

A few weeks ago, I got stuck staring at Xenufex for 30+ minutes because I rolled a 1 and he couldn't kill me. I was stuck there, unable to move or die, while he just stared at me. DMs were busy so I had to wait for player help.

another review wouldn't hurt, but personally I always liked the little guy. As annoying as he was... The whole Gnoll dungeon was generally a decent loot run in comparison to most others with a decent amount of ground to cover, but with a solid amount of chests and enemies to keep you interested. Perhaps one more chest could be added there or maybe one of the chests could have the rating bumped up to the next level loot to make it marginally more valuable. The reality is that adventuring is technically meant to be done as a group and going solo should present a risk (and rolling a 1 is simply a part of D&D, even if NWN makes it a bit of a bigger part than it is in PnP).

Change or don't, but some of these annoying bosses are the very challenge that keeps a PW interesting as folks continually learn and improve at playing the game. Possibly there is a way to change out the annoying aspects while still maintaining the level of difficulty.

This.

On the other hand, is there any way to reset the Beholder's blast ray to something that first stuns, then kills the PC? That way people would be able to see that Failed Save, perhaps, while they count the stones in the Bone Castle?!? :twisted:

Is there then a setting that allows for some form of delay before the Server throws your in to the Transition Screen to the Fugue, and then your PC is in the Fugue? Yeah, in general, whenever a PC dies, it often is pretty wham-bam-Fugue'd-you-man fast of a transition.

It might actually be kinda nice in a "Ha ha!" Nelson Muntz way to see your PC's body lying there for a few seconds in all the blood and (not) glory.

I loved him/her! He/she was the only really terrifying enemy at mid-level. I used to always warn the noobs about going down there alone ><

I would go around asking spellcasters to help me defeat the Eye tyrant (since they have Spell Mantle/Spell Resistance).
