RIG and Disease
I've been keeping an eye out lately for on hit disease items in the RIG selection from chests/drops/Second Hand and I noticed that I've never seen a disease with a DC other than 14 on a weapon. I also trawled some old marketplace posts and found a couple other examples (ex. gloves with mindfire DC 14 and demon fever...DC 14). Does anyone know if this is hard-locked in RIG?

Re: RIG and Disease
I’m not definite on this, but it seems a standard was put in place for On Hit properties to never be over 14. Myself, I’ve seen plenty of weapons with higher On Hit DCs, but either they are SUPER RARE RIG drops or are DM reward Item bumps.
What is unfortunate is that DC14 isn’t very high at all, especially considering the general inflated Saves of mobs, however, our PCs are actually doing so much attacking in general, even with a low DC and with a low On Hit percentage, you’ll see the effect quite often.
Lastly, a problem exists on BGTSCC that while high DCs are needed for epic adventuring Items, those same Items could be sold or twinked to low level PCs, that would then rofflestomp the low end content.

Re: RIG and Disease
I get the last point, but there's still nothing stopping a low level PC from getting a dusty tome out of the FAI gibberling cave chest (actually where I found my first) and then hopping on the forum to trade it for a high DC item in the marketplace. Is it rare? Sure, but it doesn't really stop it from happening, so I would hope there are higher DC drops from RIG.
I may have also found something else of interest. I'm not sure the RIG DC values are accurate for these on hit disease properties.
I was testing a pair of gloves with DC 14 Vermin Madness on hit and every time it proc'd in the combat log, the DC was actually 13. This fits with what's on the NWN wiki for Vermin Madness's DC, so now I'm wondering if these items are all just completely wrong and are generated with DC 14 property text, but actually respect the original DC of the disease. In that case, Mummy Rot is king.

For the curious: viewtopic.php?f=29&p=898402
As it turns out, because disease has a preset secondary and first save in the disease.2da file, it is likely setting the appropriate DC. Other referenced on-hit properties do not have preset saves. Also, RIG is configured for a wide range of DCs on other on-hit properties, but my guess is those were constrained specifically for the server.
See you next time on Today I Learned.
