What happened to the Robe of Eyes?

heya,

Started a new character, swashbuckler, who does not get uncanny dodge feat.

I was certain it was possible to buy Robe of Eyes with the following properties (Thayan Enclave): +4 armor ac, uncanny dodge feat, +4 search, +4 spot, only useable by monks and duelists, i even got a screenshot of it a while back, so i would remember.

am i missing something, or has this item been changed? as far as i can tell, the Robe of Eyes no longer has the uncanny dodge feat on it? why?

without this item, my build will not work (too vunerable against mobs with flatfoot or flank ac too low), and i will have to rethink the whole build.

The Feat Uncanny Dodge for Robe of Eyes was not working properly. A few month's back the staff had decided to remove the useless feat as to not further confuse players. A DM can reimburse you the amount payed for the Robe of Eyes. Furthermore, if your build was dependent on this particular feat, then you may be eligible for a full rebuild token ( I believe).

A DM should respond soon enough to this thread but figured I'd tell you first so your not sitting confused for a few hours.

For PvE Uncanny Dodge is not needed on a DEX build. I have played many such builds without HiPS and without Uncanny Dodge. As an example plenty of folks have played SB20/D10 which doesn't get Uncanny Dodge and does quite well in PvE.

ill change my build, not a problem on this one, im not that high level yet, im just glad i spotted it.

regarding ur comment chad i do not really understand it, if you have a char with for example 8 DEX mod to ac, and ur surrounded by xvarts, trolls, gnolls, or similar, ur ac is effectively 8 lower than it says on ur character sheet, that will get you dead fast, i know from first hand experience.

Well I guess it depends on the build, but my point was that there are other methods of getting AC and/or protecting from such eventualities. I find that a wand of mirror images and cloak/shield/wand of displacement addresses the scenario you outline. My point was only that there is more than one way to skin a cat, so to speak. You can have a high DEX build that does not have uncanny dodge, you just have to understand the weakness and determine what avenues are available to mask it when needed. In any case, glad you figured it out, unfortunately this wasn't a situation where it was removed due to a balance concern, so much as there was no way to make the feat actually work when granted from an item.
