Would one of you kindly rangers out there care to explain how Mark Plant and Treestride work for the ranger class?
Is there a difficulty check to successfully use Mark Plant?
And does Treestride essentially teleport to other zones, or is it more like a Dimension Door spell that only jumps character to a new location within same area?

Its the druid equivalent of teleport if I remember on my druid right. No dc to mark a location, but dc and gold each teleport attempt.
If the text is this color, I am on duty, everything else is just my humble opinion.

Re: Ranger Mark Plant + Treestride
I originally posted because I'd tried to use the ranger Mark Plant spell on an Empty Leaf Holder, but nothing appeared to happen after I'd cast it. The item still identified itself as "Empty Leaf Holder."
Then I realized that passing through an area transition makes the leaf holder show correctly. After transitioning, it shows the marked destination.
I sort of recall this is how Mark Rune works as well, but been a long while since I cast that spell.

Re: Ranger Mark Plant + Treestride
if i recall you can move the leaf holder in your inventory to force the rename on the same map.
also note that such items are using the old system, you can simply mark the ground instead and a UI will pop up giving you your marked areas (which you can name as you wish, no need to keep the default name in this case).
note that for this new system you can only mark the first time you log in every reset, due to a technical limitation, but it means you don't have to carry the leaves.

Or have to pay for them!note that for this new system you can only mark the first time you log in every reset, due to a technical limitation, but it means you don't have to carry the leaves.
Thanks for the tip.
