Spirit shaman and hierophant

so ive been working a SS for the last week trying to find a build that works for me. Thus far my character development has went from bad to worse with hidden disabled features that prevent certain builds, and other class abilities not functioning with SS correctly. Due to that I was hoping some experienced character builders and or players that have made spirit shamans themselves could come forward and possible clarify some things for me regarding the hierophant prc.

So im looking to include this class for my next RCR and was hoping someone could enlighten me on one of its features. As a class the hierophant can increase companion levels with one of their feat slots, does anyone know if this will apply to the Spirit shamans Telthor spirit wolf companion?
