A lot of the old areas are coming back. That includes a number of "RP" areas.
That's really nice to hear! I can say with all honesty that I love BGTSCC but something I've always missed from my old server was the forest map with no spawns (it had two spawns but they were so far away from the campfire that they couldn't get there unless someone led them intentionally).
Server split was no applied yet, but there was a small update today, so it seems to be caused by it. Please report any issues you find into area issues forum thread.
They have a level 13 character with 21 AB and 31 AC.
Quite high stats, yeah?
Went to do gnoll caves and ran into a mimic.
After using Rage for more AB, she could only hit the mimic on 16 and above. And the mimic consistently hit her for 20-25
Had to drink 2 potions of Heal.
Ran into another in batiri mines and 2 more potions of heal down the drain.
Meanwhile me at level 30, with 40 tumble mod, with acrobatic skill mastery, with 60 AC (with touch ac in 40s and uncanny dodge) and 30 reflex, 24 dex, evasion...
run into a mimic at serpent hills.
You'd think with my stats, mimics couldnt entangle me since you know, very high stats specifically about avoiding being touched and slipping away in case of touch and even being surprised doesnt take those away.
One cannot help but wonder that the devs want one to not even bother with looting and consequently logging in at all when there arent people guaranteed to provide rp.

Is maybe the problem with balancing loot that some players loot 3 chests per week and some players loot 30 chests per day?
Is there a way to make diminishing returns? So your first 'special/boss' chest of the day has a high % chance of amazing loot, but subsequent ones have a lower and lower chance?
I have stopped updating my reaching woods post mainly because I have no longer gone there looting as often as I have gone there to rp.
I have like 5 runs that I am pending to update but I would like to give my veredict now is thag the loot balance, from my perspective, is fine as it is now. I have seen others and me included finding more epic items at higher levels which is great.

Actually I proposed Escape Artist being the thing to allow people to escape from a mimic’s hold. Be a nice use for a currently under represented skill.

I feel that would make sense once snapped. However, it first needs to catch you, and that's covered under either reflex or touch AC (and uncanny dodge means it cannot surprise you).

See, that's not a productive comment.

My level 30 runs into a mimic every time he loots the ruins of Oghrann. It doesn’t 100% succeed on its entangle attack so I presume there is a role against touch AC. I’ll concede I haven’t gone through the combat logs to check though. So I’ll look into tonight when I get home from work.

It was on topic, and it clearly stated that the current state of affairs could be easily improved upon if mimics didn't make a literal powerbuild spend 2 1000 gold consumables just to survive. The thing required a character, that at level 13 with 21 AB, to roll over 16 to have a chance of hitting. And the thing dealt 20 damage per hit, and landed hits frequently, at level 13 - against 31 AC.
Between having both high AC, high damage AND high AB (plus the entangle effect), it makes people not even want to bother looting.

Mimics are not present in all dungeons, and are designed to be fought as a party. Think of them as mini-bosses. Mimics do not drop loot, but instead increase the total number of chests in a dungeon. A Reflex save prevents you from being grappled by the Mimic, but this save can be very difficult for high-level Mimics. We will never put Mimics in all dungeons so that players who wish to avoid Mimics are able to. It's a risk/reward tradeoff, which requires player choice.
