It seems there is no end to rumours this day. Like the cart to the city, there are none to be seen then 3 come at once. If Vampires and Dragons have not done for you yet consider one or two other things skulking perhaps unnoticed.

and rumour has it..

A wizard from Candlekeep cleared up in the aftermath of an attack by a person or group known as The Poisoner, who has been striking at those selling Upperdark Herbs. There are rumours the Dukes, or those hero Thieves probably hired The Poisoner, though the big money is on some rivalry between both Herb seller and poisoner. This has driven the sale of Upperdark Herbs from Baldur's Gate to some holiday hamlets on the coast to the north.

A famous coastal author has put out a new book about an archfey that offers insight to some associated activities observed in the year of the comet.

Some related songs harbouring insight were sung at a recent farmers market for the quick witted.

Elsewhere between Nashkel and Beregost, a falling out among thieves has produced two new gangs striking fear into the poor traveller the wildly offensive Talak the terrible and the slightly more insidious Grimback the Grime who have been busy growing their gangs moving north to avoid Druids busy in the hills of Nashkel, and relentless groups of rich adventurers working the Wyverns. The latest news here is they have grown fat with success.

Lore has evolved from documents recovered here and there along the coast that might shed light on many of the above rumours put together by the Archfey. Access to small snippets might lead an ambitious group to the greater glory and riches beyond the wildest dreams.

Small little things, odd events, or unusual documents have been pondered over these last few weeks. Put together they may make an individual the richer for gold and item. But the time draws this collection of things together. Time and a place, to have nay hope of progressing what have been described as background mysteries of the Coast. An adventuring type seeking success might over the next few weeks be able to say where, when and what.

Though upperdark herbs have been generally been removed from the City there effect has not for the noble classes are still spending too much time and family gold bringing the herbs back into the City. The poisoner who has put paid to their little game is still said to stalk the gangs. This has led to opportunity for adventurers to make some gold risking involvement.

There has been a firm response by custodians of law and order in the region.

Rumour has it the plight of the Dragons improved and the fear they have caused along the coast was deminished by the Knights of the Tradeway.

Clues and hints of Blue Dragons, rare plants, Upperdark herbs, secret scrolls, and of course the Three Kings persist, and are held as bargaining chips perhaps here and there among the adventuring class. An adventuring type seeking success might over the next few weeks be able to say where, when and what.

A noble and it now appears a criminal believed to be involved in Upperdark herbs misuse among the noble classes of Baldur's Gate was found dead. Deek and his three associates were found poisoned beyond recovery at Deek House in the Palace district. A quantity of Upperdark herbs was taken into custody by the Flaming Fist. Likely given the latest rumours that the Dukes or some nobles hired the poisoner to end this affliction among the noble class no doubt there will be close scrutiny of any investigation. But as it stands it has created more questions than answers for the astute observer. A separate rumour suggests the poisoner is not a person but a cover for a Guild employed to end this menace. Rumours eh could not eat a whole one!

Soubar was host to some feuding barbarians recently. Their presence as welcome as a group of werewolves..oh wait we have them too!

Vik Dunhayev has spread the rumour that he spotted known vampire Layla Nightgale meeting with the Zhentarim commander and the Dreadlord herself, leaving via teleportation to parts unknown at the crack of the early light of morning.

Rumour spreads that the vampire attacks are slowing, and only stragglers remain. Vampire’s killing other vampires have been spotted in the darkest corners of the coast. Some of them them fighting alongside a small number of elite Zhentarim soldiers.

Vampires eh you cannot find one then three come along at once. In addition to two feuding vampires troubling Baldur's Gate a third is rumoured to be empire building down below in the Undercity. The thought of the potential for some terrible alliance sends the wise household seeking mirrors and garlic.

It is rumoured two traders talking at the market were overheard to say if you wanted to avoid Drow then clearly the safest place was to trade in the Underdark for there are more Drow on the surface than anyone might care to consider. This was supported by an Undercity sighting.

Elsewhere between Nashkel and Beregost, a falling out among thieves has produced two new gangs striking fear into the poor traveller. Given recent efforts to hunt them down these gangs have taken a low profile and may be in hiding though at least one trader reports being stalked north of Beregost.

In two related pieces of news. The Bison brothers gang finally came to grief when they encountered elements of the Everwatch and the Wanderers Guilds guarding a wagon group. Elsewhere an expedition recovered a rare book - an old sea shanty, from the ruins in the hills south of Beregost. No sooner it seems had they sent sendings of their success than they fell prey to wyverns. It is thought adventurers likely recovered the ancient tome.

A Druid a Dryad and a pixie crossed paths at some point as fey often do. One of them emerged with rare leaves, others may merely seek it.

Rumour has it that Commander Boris of the Zhentarim, is now Deathknight Commander of the Vampire house Nightgale, and is wholly embraced by the dark curse, with all the weaknesses and strengths that go along with it. Rumours of the Zhentarim victory would spread worry amongst some of the populace.

Rumour spreads that the Illmatari and house Darius, were successful in bringing home many brothers, sons, daughters and adventurers to their families in Baldurs Gate and surrounding townships. Not all would come back, but some is better than none.

OOC Often There is a number of in game props/clues for my plots. These only remain as temporary features while server is up. To provide an indication of when such clues are in game there will also be present an NPC 'Sparty' at FAI, and Soubar near Mudd. Also located at Market Building Sshamath Central,(When clues/drops relate to Upperdark/Underdark)
Sparty at the elfsong, implies there are specifically clues within Baldur's Gate Harbour

IE if he is in game - some plot clues will be also be present. (this may save you unnecessarily looking for things when they are not there ie no 'sparty' no clues)

Other clues are held with PCs and as persistent documents and designed to encourage RP

Coast Chronicles as retold by Nus the Bard.

1357 another year then, more tales more treasures perhaps, all for the want of a clue. Many things past were left unfound what scant clues were unearthed often remained in the hands of those too greedy to share. This then is the riddle of lost treasures - share inappropriately and you may lose the lot, don't share at all and you will perhaps be the custodian of not a lot. Perhaps there is more to be gained by hugging fires who can really know. But choices are ever present.

The so called seven sons, 7 coins of Tymorian luck came together at a trade meeting of the Three Kings. There was little trading done between an adventuring alliance with some extra spectators, and the Three kings. The coins separated again, and whatever luck, good or bad, passed that day was unclear. The alliance wished the coins returned to Tymora, a farmer sought his lost wife, a bandit his gold, a Druid aid, the price of a deal - too high for the alliance, nothing was agreed and the Three Kings departed.

Of other rumours a pirate treasure washed ashore but nothing of the larger horde was found. A poisoner was at work in Baldur's Gate preserving the exclusive access of an underground Orchid. There work put an end to a rising trade in Upperrdark herbs. The so called Polvich papers were little more than smoke and mirrors and many accused ran through the courts were found guilty once again and the city settled for now.

New thoughts were mentioned with the turning of the year The Three Kings talked of a Gond set known as the gift of the Gods. It appears the Hin have lost the Yondolla Yarns, and a cleric at Greenest has put some kind of bounty on spiders. The Hunters have rung the bell, twice it has sounded but debts remain unsettled. Let us not forget Polvich, quiet these last years, his cults long since broken, and yet, the merest whisper of revival is not welcome news this year.

As eyes and efforts turn to Triel other things bubble then, just another week on the Coast.

Drow, spiders, Druids and the Guilds of the Gate have all made an appearance at the Reaching Wood. A tangled web for sure, and multiple reasons for a presence make understanding the current plotting all the more difficult.

Tales of Drow in fact travel back and forth to the Underdark mischief and plotting as ever.

Old tales mingle with new, old foes, new foes, whispered treasure all likely to dismay a seasoned adventurer who likes to count in his hand and not in his dreams. And so they mostly remain just old. Meanwhile the onslaught against the mundane, more measurable success continues, relentlessly pounding caves and dungeons.

Secret things in the City, kept secret. Dwarves have been delving elsewhere if bards are to be believed.

Whispers of new costumes, theatrical gatherings, and even fine art found. With so many distractions it is a surprise any can find time to serve the good works at Triel. But scouts, and hunters of a different kind, are alert and engaged there while merchant guilds fulfil orders to keep the camp fighting fit.

A string of attacks up and down the coast seem unrelated. But Drow, Orc and spiders were there. Strong patrols by various Guilds were seen responding to calls for aid and other preventative acts, not least serving Triel.

Charity and Art continue to be linked. Even in these times of trouble individuals from the City make time for the latest fashion, and the purchase of fine arts. Rumour has it Phoenix, Darius House and the Halls of the Inner light have the latest in art works. The Inner light led the way with another bidding extravaganza for various wonderful magic items collected in more dangerous places.

The Under City no stranger to that type of danger was where a Drow Z'zathfel of Shamaath met his end likely at the hands of Necromancers, other adventurers trawled through the place driving Undead scurrying to the deepest corners. Talk of a new regime there has not dissuaded victory dances by those of Baldur's gate.

Polvich is rumoured to be on the move by many, searching for some new magics after losing the old. The Demi Plane to the Hunters, and the Book of Darkness to the Druids. Though he is blamed for many a thing some of them are true. Action is likely to follow as new adventurers seek to become famous perhaps.

Rumors of portals being open and undead pouring out of them has been seen around the coast this last week.
Talk of Orcus could be heard on the lips of many travelers. Who is Orcus? Why are these portals being opened?
So many question that need to be answered. But where to begin?

Rumour spreads of the remains of a wagon full of healing supplies which was ransacked on the Trade Way. The Illmatari which were guarding it, all killed in action. Were they transporting goods to the temple in Baldurs Gate? Or was there some other reason? Commoners are aghast at who would possibly do such a thing. In fact, it seems the group of people who came across the caravan, even managed to recover most of the healing supplies for the local temple. Who would sack a caravan, kill its guards, but steal none of the supplies?

Rumors abound from around the Sword coast that most if not all of Orcus forces have disappeared and the attacks have ceased. Only the Serpents hills have remnants of the Demon Princes presence now.

What has caused the sudden departure of the threat of demons and undead? What does the future hold now?

These questions hang on the minds most people affected by this series of unfortunate events.

There is word of multiple instances of livestock suddenly going missing, as well as one person, a womans husband, in Ulgoth's Beard. People seem uncertain as to what is happening. Some at the local taverns have spoken of seeing a few newcomers speaking with strange accents, but they seem like friendly enough fishermen, not really the animal thieving sort. The timing of their arrival and these disappearances do make some folk suspicious though.

Well citizens never has the coast been so complicated. I heard a rumour A Balor was here to stay and had wait for it, a Devil, and an Lich in his pocket. Of course he did. Heard a counter rumour they all got to together at week's end high in the mountains played cards drank pirate rum and swopped prisoners when they lost. Heard they ate all them wolves been roaming the coast of late. Ulgoth! don't talk to be about livestock vanishing when Balors are dining on steak! Obvious isn't it.

What do the high and mighty all do about this I ask you...well actually I will tell you. They were seen buying up art, holding some sort of festival in the fields to mark their creative side. Spiders oh there's another thing marching all over the coast faster than a Heart Patrol! What are we to think. At least the Hellriders are offering a bounty for Baleful Mandibles - they have got things sorted. Not sure why Sshamath is paying out too of course but lets be honest no one really understands Drow politics!

I would say time to go fishing, but a group of newly recruited loggers were sunk without trace along the Chionthar and well as you might imagine all of those aforementioned got the blame but likely they just capsized.

The frenzy of meetings to solve the many, many, small and separate chapters of the coast big book gave way to quieter action. They say some chapters are done others revealed, trouble is no one knows where the book is going but mark my words where there is words in a book there is wealth.

So much has happened. So many Guilds busy being busy. Triel has remained quieter perhaps the only good thing. Donations to the war bonds have continued to arrive and the Captain has continued to pay out 5 bags for the baleful mandibles. Spiders have been destroyed wherever they appear from the Underdark to the Rocky Creek. This pricy policy has paid dividends in the latest account of a fierce infestation in the north Reaching, far from the Cities and yet what started as a small response from ORH was followed up by unlikely and incompatible allies - the House blackrose. Separate efforts were put in play and driven back. More Guilds arrived to the forest. The Enclave, Candlekeep, Phoenix, Inner light The Dreadlord for goodness sake. Others too perhaps such an unlikely alliance temporarily formed in various sweeps of the forest until the spider and their cultists puppet masters were destroyed. Of note some surface cultists were among the Drow as the cult obviously attempts to grow it's power. Well not in the north Reaching that's for sure.

What of the House of Cards, that place where the rich and famous first established their inner circle of influence to seek the Duke's ear. There is a rumour they gather for cards once a quarter to collectively agree a view on the Guilds of both the city and beyond. This view is then shared and held by their various contacts in businesses whatever they may be. It all also is conveyed uphill to the Dukes whatever that may mean, and of course it may just be one of those rumours. Nothing i a mere Bard can comment on but I can mention some words spoken at social gatherings in the public domain.

Word has it the head of house Cards gave a nod recently to the newly hopeful Guild being considered by Kelian Hannen as a commitment to the City that he hoped might help. He was also enthused by the reported return of Pokey McStab remarking his Guild may have faltered but the fellow had been once a legend why his support for a patrol to defeat pirates has left the City three ships greater and safe these past years.

A favoured son of house Anjinson recently remarked at a charity gathering "House Darius a stalwart of the City remained in a state of confusion after some troubling Balor moments that do not appear resolved." While Bordan Burrow head of house Burrow remarked at a farmers market "Now House Aldren may not even have committed to City premises but I view them often dependable when looking for support in the arts. You know there research may be of some value to the City."

Cara Cards at a gloves display mentioned "The City remains safe from crime recently as good as a sign as a woman buying three pairs of gloves might hope." As tradition dictates the Thieves Guild will never be mentioned by this social circle then perhaps there was the reference and one thta suggested a certain order.

Carlow Cards fresh from a gin tasting display remarked "Now if social niceties are not your greatest concern you need look no further than the exemplary ORH for breadth and depth of activity. They do way too much marching for my liking, but when the City is in need!"

I will endeavour to cover the many other intrigues of this particular House of Cards as time progresses. But to more concerning matters Polvich remains undiscovered. The elusive one mauled man continues to help the spider cultists. The Yondalla Yarns remain languishing and the Gifts of the Gods not so gifted. Other older mysteries gather dust. Nonetheless behind the scenes frantic activity moves to change at least some of this.
