Storage

Unread post by Glowfire »

I can't remember. Is personal storage location dependent?

IE if I had something stored in Baldur's Gate, can I grab it in FAI or not? I seem to recall one can't but... memory is such a fuzzy thing.

Are guild storages a thing now? How do they work?

Yes, it's location dependent.

No guild storage.

Thank you Rhifox. Can you also remember for me where I stored things 1.5 years ago? :')

Using any storage vendor should show you where your other items are (you just can't retrieve them until you go there).

I believe it is also character dependent, so you can't view one character's stash on another toon.

Correct. Also, there's horse system, but I feel like that's another topic and one already known to OP.

I've never actually used a horse for storage. The Golden Wheel used to get some horses to walk them from Nashkel to Baldur's Gate every once in a while as guild events to represent trade caravans, which is how I know their AI is horrendous...

... but how does storage on horses work? How 'safe' is it? Can it all be lost in a crash?

Yes, it can be lost if your bag is on the ground when server crashes. You have to remember to put your bag back on horse everytime. You can keep 100 items there and you can "teleport" the horse between stables by speaking to stablemaster.

Horse storage is not safe and I do not recommend using it as your main storage. Using it drops a bag on the ground which you put your stuff in, but while the bag is on the ground it's not persisted. So when using a horse storage you want to only put the bag down for very brief moments to put something in or take it out. The longer you leave it open, the more vulnerable to a crash.

Horse Storage is only 'unsafe' when the contents have been adjusted. Until an item is added or removed after the bag is dropped off the NPC, it is still safe. This will be visible by the names of all items turning Red, and it will announce that the contents are no longer saved.
