Everyone Has A Past

North-east of Waterdeep, nestled along the north-western edge of the Evermoors, is the small town of Nesme. Many wouldn't even think it exists, and that is probably because of its location, not being near any other towns. But those that do, know that town is recognised by many for it's exceptional quality of steel. The steel is shipped mainly to Waterdeep, but the town keeps its fair share of steel for use by their militia, the Riders of Nesme. As the lands surrounding Nesme are rather dangerous, the Riders have trained themselves to be battle-hardened and fierce warriors.

One man amongst the Riders during his prime was Garrett Carshald, a rather burly, strong veteran warrior. Born and raised as a fighter by his father, who also was of the militia, he signed with them at the age of fourteen and by eighteen was beginning to make a name for himself among the militia. He would be the man sent into the bars to stop a fight, or the first one to enter an orc cave. He had been serving in the militia for a few years when he noticed Jess Laner, the daughter of a local merchant. Soon he asked for her hand in marriage, and thankfully she agreed. A year later, in 1316, Jess gave birth to a daughter who would become Telissa Carshald.

As a young girl, Telissa loved the morning and even more-so the sun rise. Each morning, before dawn, she would awake and run to her parents room, climbing a small chest to look out the window as the first beams of sunlight stretched across the sky. Her mother would watch with her, often muttering words Telissa was unable to understand at the time. With each passing summer, the words her mother would whisper each morning became clearer and clearer, and Telissa would soon whisper the same: "Praise be to the Light-Bringer, the Faith-Healer, and the Renewer of Hope... may you continue to shed light into the darkness before us, Morninglord..."

Upon reaching five summers of age, her mother, Jess, became pregnant. This time she bore twins, two sons, Alan and Darren. Alan was much like his father, if not an identical match. Tall, strong, and was quick to learn the ways of a fighter. Darren was the smaller, and one would say more intelligent of the two. Alan preferred to use brawn over brains, but Darren used brains over brawn. He chose to follow in the footsteps of Jess, aiding those around him in ways not requiring a blade.

Telissa, on the other hand, was gifted with the strength of her father, while also graced with her mother's beauty and wisdom. Although against her mother's initial protests, her father would take her out back of their house and teach her the way of the sword. By the tenth summer, her skill with the longsword wasn't great but it was improving none the less. Sometime during that summer however, several heavily-armour clad men stood at her door. Upon opening the door and looking up to them, the men simply smiled down to her, all wearing long, golden cloaks. A hand was placed on her shoulder and as she turned around, she looked into the smiling face of her mother.

A few times each week, she would sit with these men in her room and listen to stories, prayers, phrases and other such things of Lathander, the Morninglord. Most times her mother would join her, offering her own insight on occasion. Along with the skills of combat that her father was teaching her, Telissa grew to become a close follower of Lathander and would strive daily to provide aid to those who required it. Telissa would soon aid her mother in raising her sister, who was born when Telissa turned 10 summers of age.

Her name was Natalia, and following in her mothers footsteps like her brother Darren, she did not take up a blade but instead was blessed by Lathander, able to heal the wounds of others and grant them additional strength.

Telissa followed in the footsteps of her father in the enc, soon taking up arms and signing with the militia when she reached eighteen summers of age. For a few summers she travelled with the militia to fight against the trolls and orcs of the Evermoors and the surrounding lands. One such trip proved to be a sharp turning point in her life. A wounded orc sat slumped against a tree just north of Nesme. She looked down at the creature, the creatures wounds grave. Knowing the orc could not fight her back, she simply pointed north, sparring the life of the creature. As she saw it off into the distance, a small ounce of regret began to form within her.

It was not but a few nights later that a band of orcs came charging from the north towards the town, surprising the Riders during the night. Several riders fell, as well as two commoners. At the end of the chaos, she looked upon the bodies of orcs that littered the town and recognised the orc of which she had sparred. She took blame of the attack, though not openly saying it. Quickly she packed her belongings, and although her parents tried to stop her, she told them she could not stay and decided to make her way south to Waterdeep.

Several weeks would pass until the gates of Waterdeep stood before her. Upon joining the guard, she helped in aiding the misfortunate, often bringing food and clothing payed with by her own coin to the homeless. She also held a firm belief against crime, aiding in the capturing of several thiefs, murderers and other criminals found within the city. After the twenty-fifth summer had come and passed for her, she decided she would travel once more further south to aid those that she has not had the chance to.

Her journey sent her through the town of Daggerford and along the road close to the High Moor before taking the road south at the crossroads towards the city known as "Baldur's Gate". As she entered the gates of the city, she smiled looking upon the beauty of which is Baldur's Gate. Her gaze soon fell upon a billboard in the centre of the town. A single note caught her attention, a note claiming of an Order in the town of Beregost known as the Order of the Morning Sun, to be for followers of the Morninglord. The note was signed by a man named Trent Marnimane, so she began to make her way south to Beregost, seeking to find this Trent Marnimane.

The following entries appear to be that of a journal, the collection of thoughts and memories of Telissa.

My journey to Baldur's Gate was rather pleasant as I found there to be little to no problems along the way. Entering the city, I noticed a large billboard with several notices on it. One such notice was left behind by a "Trent Marnimane", the leader of an order of Lathander known as the Order of the Morning Sun. Further reading the note I learned the location of the temple of Lathander, that it was in a small town named Beregost to the south of the city along the trade route. I had but one way to travel at this point, and I soon turned and began making my way to the south.

I do not know if by fate, or simply by coincidence, but as I walked over the long bridge seperating Baldur's Gate from the trade route, a group sat gathered around a small campfire. One such man wore a long golden cloak, sitting on the bench enjoying the company of those gathered around him. I had suspicion as to who it was, but I calmly walked over and asked if any of those gathered knew where I could find Trent Marnimane other than in the town of Beregost.

The man with the golden cloak rose, a warm smile on his lips as he claimed to be he, that of Trent Marnimane. I stood dumbfounded, unsure of, as I mentioned earlier, if it was by fate or simply coincidence. We took to the side behind the caravans gathered at that campfire, and he informed me that he was seeking new members to join his Order. I did not hesistate, pledging myself to the Order near immediately.

We returned to the campfire, to join the company of a miss Alana, who I unfortunately do not recall her last name. I believe a young girl was also present, though her name I do not know yet. I do hope in time I do, for she seemed that of a free spirit. Soon, our journey began southward to Beregost. He had offered to show me the town and our temple, and I was more than willing to make the trip to see both. Our travel was not without a fight, running into several creatures along the way. The roads to Beregost are beyond dangerous. A small group of new adventurers will be easily defeated by the ogres, giants, tigers and goblins that guard the southern road.

"Song of the Morning is our temple", said he, a relaxed and pleasant smile on his lips. We took to the interior, and I could not believe my eyes before me. The temple was that of which I had never seen. beauty from tile to tile. I dropped to a knee before the altar, giving praise to the Morninglord for guiding me to my next purpose in my life. As I rose and looked to he, Trent Marnimane, I knew I would be able to count on him in time to come.

Time has come and gone almost too quickly since I have been here. Many things have happened recently, some more disturbing than others. I can tell these lands are in need of aid. In the middle of the road between Beregost and Baldur's Gate lies a temple to Bhaal, of all the possible gods imaginable. Yet none have seemed to breach it fully, to cleanse the place of the evil. I have not been inside the temple, though I can only suspect the horrors and atrocities that have been commited inside its walls.

Trent and I were ambushed south of the temple one day, along with another elf. We suspect the Bhaalists were behind such, as we heard ill whisperings when we passed the temple. This is not the only time I have been ambushed though, and oddly enough with Trent. Perhaps travelling with him is putting myself in danger. But I worry not, for it is evident that evil wishes to rid those who seek to destroy it. And destroy it we shall.

The second ambush has left us rather not at ease of late. A few days prior, I came out of the city heading towards the bridge when a small group was gathered. One man seemed to be of the centre of attention, wearing a golden crown and parading around needlessly. He wore an eye patch, an eye patch that I hope will lead me to discovering his identity. He was to be brought to the Fists for crimes. As the group went to bring him in, he made a dash, but was quickly knocked unconscious by Trent and a knight of Helm, known only as Vlad.

For a reason I have yet to learn, Vlad continually asked us to let him take the body on his own to the Fists. We respectfully declined, making sure the man was taken to the Fists. Along the way Trent informed me that the man being carried by Vlad was a known Bhaalist of the lands. As we arrived at the Fist headquarters, Vlad went in to speak to the Fists there. They told him, though I am unsure of whether this statement is true or not, that Vlad was to execute the man. He declared that he would take the man to Cloakwood, where he would perform the execution. "Cloakwood", we asked, unsure of why he would need to not only travel so far to execute the man but why he would want to bring him closer to the temple of Bhaal.

Again, we respectfully declined his wish, asking him to simply take him to the docks and have him executed there. We arrived to see it done, though oddly took rather a long time seeing as how Trent and I had spent some time in prayer. Vlad executed Kel by thrusting his sword into his neck, and soon the eyes of the man no longer showed the signs of life. Vlad then said firmly he was taking the body to be dismembered in Cloakwood and would do such even if we did not wish it. We let him go, and it has been something I have regretted since.

The second ambush took place also to the south of the temple, though just north of the road where the waterfall lies to the north of Beregost. Trent, a half-elf named Elsa, and myself were travelling to Beregost when a voice from the shadows called out. Before I knew what was happening, several bolts flew in the direction of Trent, piercing his armor. Valiantly he attempted to charge the voice in the night and I also charged, though turned out to be a foolish one at that. The ground blew up before me, and all went dark. I do not remember anything after, other than when I awoke in the Song of the Morning temple in Beregost. Trent has claimed, as has Elsa, that the man who ambushed us stated he was the one we watched executed. How this can be, I am unsure, though I will discover what has happened.

There has been so much that has happened as of late that I fear I am rather behind in my writings, so I have decided I will begin writing prior to each dawn before I must pray of my previous days encounters. As I write this now, I lay in my tent in the encampment outside of the temple of Bhaal. Soon, we shall march upon the temple and cleanse it once and for all of the evil taint that is held within.

With each passing hour, more come to aid us, raising their arms to such a cause. A smile comes to me seeing each, some of those I recognise, while others I do not but look forward to meeting. I am glad that so many will raise their arm in battle to rid the lands of evil, even though they may not be of the purest of hearts.

I worry of Trent as of late. A day or two prior Randall came along the road of the encampment, and as I was speaking to sir Jonas, I could hear him yelling in the distance. Trent was attempting to arrest Randall for conspiring to poison myself. I care little for Randall, but I informed Trent that there are more important matters at hand than dealing with Randall, whom I wish nothing to do with any longer.

I overheard sir Jonas mentioning something Trent had done to the orcs of the forests, and later I was informed that Trent had brutally beaten the orcs, leaving them hanging from trees with a mark of our Morninglord in their chests. I do not believe he fully understands what his duty is, or realises that his actions are putting frowns on the faces of those who hear of our Order.

Perhaps I have vowed to follow the wrong man, though I know Trent is of good intentions, even if his actions are questionable at times. I have spoken to him, harshly at first, but in the end I assured him that he can change his ways. He has said he will try to think clearer, using force as a last, desperate measure instead of using it first and foremost, as it seems he has been doing as such.

We returned to the encampment and as I made my way back to the small gathering of sir Jonas and a handful of others, Trent sat down in the shadows of sir Jonas' tent and began to weep. Seeing such, I walked over to him and consoled him. He stated he was weeping for his mistakes, and I smiled at such words. I have always believed that you should feel sorrow for your mistakes, for from the sorrow you will rise to your feet and change what your mistake, or mistakes, have done.

Rest. That is what I need, as does everyone who walks this encampment. Rest will assure us victory, for our minds and body will be fresh to rise at the challenge before us. I have urged many to get rest, some seeming full of energy but at the dawn of the cleansing day, all must be wary. It is now time I rest myself. I look forward to the dawn of the cleansing day.

Recently the war camp has been under attack from those of the temple of Bhaal. I am astonished as to how I was unable to awaken during any of the attacks, but that matters little. So long as the attacks have been thwarted with ease and we continue our preparations for the day in which we will end the evil of the Bhaalists, I am glad. Though it has been hard lately to keep a smile on my lips, for I fear my heart is being split into two.

I've been informed by Jonas and several others of more actions that Trent has foolishly done. He ventured into the temple of Bhaal, not only is it simply foolish to do such but against the direct orders of sister Merielle, who asked that NONE enter the temple. Yet here he is, going against the wishes of the high command at this encampment and gaining us further disrespect from those who, if we seek to do what it is I signed up for, are the ones we WANT their respect from.

Foolish. Foolish. Foolish. I cannot say how many times I have said that word lately in regard to his actions. I believe he is doing first before thinking. I have even talked with him, not only as a friend but as someone who follows him, but it seems that has done little. My heart is beginning to ache, for what I once though was good is beginning to give me doubt, yet there still remains hope. I do hope in the end my hope prevails, for what I would do if my doubt reigns victorious I do not know. Unfortunately, that is not the only action he has done lately that I heavily am angered at.

The druids came to offer their help, bringing with them trents and other creatures, of which were awe-inspiring, if I may say. They were led to Jonas' tent, where they were to have a conference with those that lead the encampment and the druids and their allies. Jonas asked me to assure no one disturbs them during the meeting. Not only a few minutes had gone by when the group by the fire, which consisted of Trent, a tiefling woman Tamina whom Trent is seeing, and Dimsdale. There were a few others as well, but I do not know their names.

A conversation was started regarding tieflings, and several of those gathered, none of which I knew, stated their opinions of not trusting tieflings and one having a general hatred towards them. I understand that it is an opinion, and perhaps not necessary, but Trent rose quickly to nearly cause a fight with the man. If I had not intervened and forced the two apart, I do not doubt there would have been a brawl. Out of the brawl though I met another man, Rente. He informed me sister Merielle had asked him to do the same as Jonas had asked me, and to that we both laughed for a few moments. He seems a good man, a hard working one at that.

Soon the conference was over, and the camp became quiet as many returned to the city for the night. A bed would be nice to sleep in, but I will not complain. Though it is time for rest again. Tomorrow I head to Cloakwood to train. It would be wise on my part to strengthen myself before the battle begins, giving not only I a sharper edge but in turn the army itself.

The past few days have been far too busy for I to write of what has happened. On several occasions the camp has become under siege and in return we have fired our own catapults. It seems we are finally making progress, for the walls of the temple begin to crumble under our continued bombardment. We soften their defenses, but we know that they have not shown their true strentgh to us yet. It will be shown when our foot steps within the temple for the last time while their evil stands. In turn, they have not seen our true strength either. As Jonas has said to be recently, "darkness must always make way for the light". And in the coming days, it shall.

I have spoken to Trent reguarding his actions for a second time. He has informed me of something horrific in his past, but I will not write of what for fear of my journal being stolen. I have forgiven him, and have new hope in his nearby future. My only fear is that he does not listen to my words, and causes me uncertainty towards him again. Would prefer this not be the case, but only time will tell that tale. The Order of the Morning Sun will need to be re-organized, for our members seemed to have dwindled to simply Trent and I. Perhaps after this war on the temple we may sit down and discuss the future of our Order.

He has said that Tamina and him have vowed to one another to not have another woman or man in their lives but themselves. It was pleasant to my ears to hear such but I only can hope that they follow through. Trent has shown his darker side to me, going against the teachings of our Morninglord of fertility. It will be a challenge for the two, of that I am certain, but a challenge that may occupy themselves from giving in to such desires. He has also informed me that Tamina wishes to learn more of Lathander. Although I have my doubts of her and her actions of late clouding his mind, perhaps now is a time in her life that she wishes to start over. I will aid her in doing so.

I cannot write more, for I am being called. We are to launch another volley towards the temple. If this is to be my last entry, I would wish those of my friends to be well.

It is over. As I write those three simple words, I ponder whether or not they are a lie. But it is true. The war is over, and the temple of Bhaal no longer carries within it the taint of evil. Construction of an inn, I have been told, will begin after the cleansing has been done. Though I must say I am both relieved and saddened that it is over. Relieved that the nights where I slept little are gone, where the smell of blood and destruction does not fill my nostrils. Relieved that the evil that once resided is no more.

But I am saddened, as well, and not for the reason many would assume upon first hearing such. I am saddened that an event that brought so many together, those of different genders and races, in harmony, for the most part that is. There were the few arguments and fights, but overall, it seemed many put aside their grudges for one another to aid in this noble cause. Bonds were formed, new friendships that shall carry on afterwards. It also saddens me that a war was the cause of the bonding, but regardless it was a pleasant thing to be apart of.

It has been a long day, that I can assure you. For the morning started simply: a light bombardment of our catapults against the keep, to soften up their defenses further. Sir Jonas put myself in charge of the catapult teams, and at one point we had five teams diligently working towards leveling the walls of the temple before us. They returned fire, and several times it came near close to fatalities. A few catapults caught fire, but the flames were rather quickly doused by the water crews. This bombardment lasted the majority of the morning, before Sir Jonas ordered a cease fire to rest.

I then rested myself, for I had slept little the night prior and was feeling too tired to continue. When I awoke, it was time. The time where the forces of good would march towards the temple for the last time. The horn Sir Jonas recieved blew loudly in the air, filling the ears and hearts of our forces as we began our march towards the gate. The enemy was fierce, having the advantage of a narrow keep gate that proved to be the defeat of many, such as myself. Though it seemed only momentary that I was in the lower planes, until my eyes snapped open and I breathed once more.

Soon we were within the courtyard, and Sir Jonas and several others continued within while the remaining forces remained within the keep grounds. The battles we fought in were fatal to many, I myself falling during one of many attacks that the Bhaalists launched to reclaim their keep. But our forces held strong, battling back the enemies each time. Then it blew once more. From behind us, out of the temple, came Sir Jonas and his crew. Blowing the horn, it was a calming sound to our ears as we all cheered in victory.

Now I go to rest. For it has been a long day, and I thank Lathander that it is in our favor.

At last, I am home. The place that I now call home, that is. It has been too long since I have ventured to Nesme to see my parents and siblings. Perhaps that is something I will do now that the siege is over. A small break from these lands could do me good, to clear my mind and return with new vigor. I may do such a trip after the upcoming meeting Trent has planned for us of the Order, to finally get together and organize ourselves. It is something that should have been done much earlier but I am glad that we are finally doing such

I only hope for a good turnout. There are few of us, only Trent, Belen, Aston and myself. With the temple in Beregost, it would seem as though our numbers would be quite large. But it is not the case, though something we will change for certain. I look forward to the time when our goals have been accomplished and we are recognised in the lands as a strong and good hearted Order. It is my only wish, that when people see the golden cloaks, they feel safe. That they can trust in us to help them. It will be a long process but I believe we can accomplish such goals.

It is quiet here, as I lay in my room at the temple. There are few snores that echo through the hallway, but otherwise a quiet I have longed for. Since the siege it has been hard to sleep, hard to hear my own thoughts. But now that I am home, in my room, everything is as was prior. I feel at ease, for once in quite some time.

Candlekeep is the place I have been mostly as of late, besides here. It is a mix of the atmosphere of both the city and Beregost, I find. Not large yet not small, not noisy yet not quiet. A pleasant place it is. I believe I will reside her more and more within the coming months of my time in these lands. Though Beregost will always be my home while I am here.

It is time for I to rest. I will need much to be able to travel to see my family in the coming days, for I plan to stop little along the way. I cannot wait to see my family once again. Perhaps I will be able to convince my siblings to come south and lend their aid to the Order. Time will reveal whether or not they will.

At last my feet step upon familiar stones, the city of Baldur's Gate surrounding me. It has been a few weeks since I have been here, and I am glad to return. These lands are my home, no other place I can call so. With the travelling I have done, I am quiet tired and exhausted. Perhaps I will sleep longer tonight, for I am in no hurry to wake up. I can hear the Fist guards walking outside on the streets, adventurers and citizens making their way to and fro. A noise I have missed dearly, and am enlightened to hear it again.

My trip started a few weeks earlier, as I made my way north to Waterdeep. Once more I passed through the down of Daggerford, before heading along the road north. I waited a day before my family arrived in their caravan. It was so nice to see my parents and siblings once more. Too long has it been since I have seen them. All I have done is wrote letters, and most letters were unreturned since I have been on the move. After all, it is hard to catch a moving person.

I am unsure if my secondary mission was successful or not, but I spoke to each of my siblings asking them to come south to lend aid. Time will only tell whether or not I have succeeded or failed. My father is growing older, as is my mother. They still have some years ahead of them, and I hope that each is better than the previous. Alan is doing well, apparently has been promoted to a Sergeant in the Riders of Nesme. My father retired at Lieutenant, perhaps Alan will be able to pass him. Darren and Natalia have been busy working in their small temple to Lathander, doing what they can, they have told me. It brings a smile to my lips hearing them continue their work in the Morninglord's name.

I am glad that Natalia has Alan and Darren to care for her. She is a beautiful girl, and should anything happen to her, I would be devastated. But my brothers will stop at nothing to assure she is safe. Father and mother have opened up a clothing store, so they say. Business is usual, for in a small town what can you expect? She has always been a good tailor, my mother that is. She knit me my own cloak to wear, as well as my robes. Anyone who purchases clothing from her should be satisfied at the least.

I'm thankful that both on my trip to and fro Waterdeep I did not encounter any harm. It was relatively quiet, other than a few animals trying to attack the caravan I was in, but they were quickly put down. Odd that we were not attacked by a band of thugs, but you won't hear me complain that we weren't. I would rather not deal with them. But it's getting late now, and my eyes can barely stay open. Seems as though my mind is simply telling my hand what to write while my eyes try to sleep. When I awake, I will begin my way south to Beregost and place my things back into my room.

Where do I begin? I am uncertain as to where I should start. Would it be easier to start with how Trent has been acting as of late? Or the tiefling woman who worships Graz'zt? Perhaps speaking of Dustin, whom admitted he rose a minion of the dead to his side? Within the short period since I returned, it makes me feel as though I am being thrown all of this at once, rather than gradually working in it. But I do not mind, other than I grow tired quickly. I have had several headaches upon returning, which I soon hope begin to cease.

I suppose I will start with Dustin, as you could almost call it the driving force behind Trent. When I returned a few days prior, Trent informed me that Ivaris and himself had caught Dustin practicing necromancy, and had him subdued. They then took him to the High Priest, whom ordered Dustin executed. Though I wonder how it is Dustin still walks these lands even after being executed. Perhaps the one who he worships is not done with him yet. The sound of that does not bear good news.

Valerius Rokranon whispered into my ear a day prior, informing me that an elf hid in the shadows of the caravans, blades drawn, looking towards me. He cast a few spells upon me, and soon I was able to see him. He then assured me that the elf was gone, but for the few moments I looked around, I was unsure what may happen. Whether or not the individual would lunge forth from the shadows to strike at me or not. I am glad it was the latter, that is for certain. A short while after we were gathered around the campfire just south of the bridge, when a knight came towards us. Trent was among those gathered around, as was Randall. The knight informed us that there was a gathering of individuals near the temple of Bane in the Sharp Tooth Woods. So we soon set out, Trent, Randall, myself and two others. An elven woman who Randall and Trent both referred to as "Leo", and a halfling who was equally as vulgar as Randall. I must say that a headache came upon me a few minutes into our trip.

Proceeding to the Sharp Tooth Woods, a man who I have seen many times though have not formally been introduced to known as Ian, came upon us. Trent asked him to come with, and although Ian suggested we retreat for more aid, we continued our way towards the temple of Bane. We began to climb a hill and once we reached the top, we noticed a couple gathered, one being Vaul. Soon from the shadows two more would appear, a hooded woman Trent referred to as Evie, and Dustin. It seemed as though Dustin was following us all the while. Him and Trent began exchanging words, escalating to blows, before I stepped between the two. The hooded woman known as Evie attempted to convince them to fight, and as I already had been overcome with a headache due to Randall and the hin, I was in little a good mood to deal with her.

I cannot understand how it is Trent so willingly befriends those who are an obvious negative influence on him. Perhaps that is why he is who he is, someone who chooses the quick and easy way to do something which generally leads to a violent solution. My headache did not help, for I grew a bit angry with him. I walked south alone to my room to rest, for I fear if I continued on, I would say something I would regret. Thugh it matters little now.

After resting for a short time and clearing my thoughts, I returned north to find Dustin sitting on the ground. Miss Alison was amongst the group. They informed me that Randall had suddenly attacked him, after yelling at Dustin for barging into his room when he had a woman in there with him. I am uncertain as to why any woman would lower herself to Randall's level, but that is not of my concern. The discussion soon led to Dustin admitting he raised a minion from the dead to his side, though claims that he did so to help him carry the bodies of fallen adventurers he had come across in the goblin caves. Although his attentions may have been of good nature, it is still wrong to raise someone unwillingly to your side. He did not seem to understand such, and miss Alison grew rather frustrated with him. Time will tell whether or not he truly realises his mistake.

Though enough of Dustin. He is a small piece in the puzzle.

Andy came and spoke as well. I have not seen him for some time, so it was good to be able to talk with him again. He still seems to think Jonas and I are more than friends, though I do not understand how he can think such. Regardless, soon after we spoke Ivaris came to us, informing that the bandits had sacked a caravan and took hostages. He told us to head north to the campfire and await further instruction, so we did such. Once Andy and I arrived there, we found Trent at the fire. Mephitiri was seated down. He came to me, saying that he was going to find Jonas and inform him that she was here. I told him that it was not important at the moment, that the hostages are our main concern. He would not listen though, so he went off to find Jonas while I informed the guards of the bandits and hostages.

Ivaris seemed to be trying to hide something, asking that we remain here and wait for Trent and Jonas to return before doing anything. He then stated that we must wait for Fangorn to come and give us the details. So we did so, waiting until Fangorn to arrive, but in the end he did not. Andy grew restless, deciding to head south to find the caravan and hostages himself. He would return a short while later informing us that the threat we thought was no more, for Fangorn and Siomir had dealt with it themselves. In the end we stood at the fire for little reason.

Soon after Andy arrived, Jonas and Trent did. Jonas looked to be rather shooken up, and I believe he did not want to have to be brought to deal with an issue that is not important as of now. Though as Jonas walked away, Trent's anger began to overcome him, as he whispered to us that we should all just attack her. He does not understand it as we do, so the golden knight, as I have to continually refer to him as for I forget his name, took Trent aside and talked to him. I regret allowing him to do so, for Trent walked towards me furious.

He took off his cloak, throwing it down at my feet. Curiously I looked towards him, wondering what he was doing. He then began to yell at me, claiming that I was trying to take over the order, plotting things behind his back, and other things. Then he went off into a rant of how those of us seeking to rid evil from the lands are letting it sit on the benches beside us, not striking it down. The thing he does not realise, is that there is a reason behind everything we do. If we do not rush, there is a good reason as to why we do not rush. We take a careful, planned path. It will do us no good to rush forth, using violence as our method to solve problems, for then we are no better than those we battle.

Trent was angered with me and others for some time, and I went off to the bridge to think alone. Though it was a poor spot to do so, as many passed by, such as Jonas and miss Selah. Dustin came to me, asking to speak, though when we went to go speak, he then stated it was not important and walked off. Why others ask myself to speak with them, only to say nevermind or say it is not important? I will never understand the reasoning behind such things. Then I travelled south, removing my armour and donning my robes before I sat along the shoreline. Why I did not choose this place at first I will not know, but it was quiet, and peaceful. The gentle sounds of the water splashing up against the shore, along with the still and quiet of the night, only aided in calming my soul and clearing my head.

Jonas then approached me and sat by my side, and we talked for some time. The both of us are holding things in, and I believe it was a relief to us both to let what bothers us most out. After all, we will become more angry in time by holding things within, until there is no more room left in the bottle and the cap must be released. Though it is time I lay my head down and rest, for my eyes are barely able to stay open. May Lathander brighten my mornings and light my path, for there is much darkness before me and with his guidance I will make it through.

So it appears my last entry of Trent was not finished. Him and I spoke for a great deal of time the other day, and in the end I had mixed emotions. I was angered at him for the way he spoke to me, seeming as though I was the one in the wrong for not informing him of a matter the Order had not been apart of prior to the meeting that was held for a select few. Does he not realise that those similar to us in goals do not wish us to become involved, fearing what Trent will do? It is obvious enough amongst the common person that Trent is rather quick to anger, and does not care to think and plan carefully before acting. Perhaps in time he will understand, but time and only time itself will tell us.

We talked of other things, such as whether or not I wish to continue as the second-in-command of the Order. I believe I have come to a decision, one that has been carefully thought through. It has not been something I have not carefully looked over and considered, but for myself I believe it to be the best course. I will be informing Trent of it shortly, as he has just sat beside me. Perhaps not tonight though, for he seems to be in a rather happy mood, and I would not wish to dim that. He is deserving of such at least.

Though not all is ill for me as of late. Jonas came to me at the campfire the night prior, asking if I would like to go for a walk. Though the walk did not last long, as he instead asked if I would like to go to dinner. I must say, it was more than enjoyable. He informed me of his past, and of other details I would presume he wish to keep quiet, so I will not go into detail about them. In the end, not only was the food delicious, but the experience of sharing dinner with him was something I have not done with another. We conversed the entire length, never a dull moment. Though in the end my long day before dinner caught up and I went to rest. Little rest did I get, for a man across the hall who I was informed by Trent to be Randall snored, while I would believe Trent and Tamina were together in the room beside me.

Eventually I would not bother trying to fall back asleep, instead making my way south to Beregost to sleep in my room for the last time. I passed through the camp, my eyes heavy. Though as I began the southern road, Jonas called out my name. We spoke for a few moments again, then we went quiet. His eyes changed colours, and I asked him what it ment. He responded, informing me of what it was. I remember smiling, as I leaned forward to kiss his cheek briefly before making my way south. I arrived a short while later and do not remember having much trouble falling asleep.

At the fire now though, there are many gathered. A bard, named Arivain, apparently an old but good friend of Jonas, is one I have been introduced to. He seems a good man, very wise with his choice of words towards a woman unlike Randall, who is also here now. Trent is being spun around by Randall, spilling his mead all over the place. It would be wise for I to stop here, for if the ink was to spill onto my armour or journal, it would be a mess I would not want to have to deal with.

Little has happened that is important as of late. Mostly, it has been the small, minor things that have gained my attention. One such is the constant skirmishing between Dustin and Trent. The two have an obvious grudge against one another, and time will only reveal who the victor, if there will be one, will be. I am glad that there are no major events to grab my attention. It is rather quiet and peaceful due to such and it is a nice break from the constant battle we all fight.

It was a few days prior that Trent requested my aid to travel south of Beregost in search of Dustin. Unknown to Ivaris, who also came with Trent, and I, we nearly passed him. But Trent managed to spot him. Ivaris and I were invisible due to Ivaris' spell, and we waited while Trent had a peaceful conversation with him inquiring into details of Dustin hurting Tamina by using her hair or something of that sort. Mid way through the inivisibility wore off, so we could not help but stand dumbfounded as we listened to the rest of their talk.

But not all was in vain. I managed to ask Dustin politely to search both his person and his belongings, and he agreed to such. I did not manage to find any hair, but when I went to search through his pack, his familiar spider jumped out. I jumped back and fell onto my rear in shock, but laughed. Though Trent took a different, hostile route, and squished the familiar beneath his boot. The action greatly angered Dustin, who then turned hostile towards Trent. The situation rather quickly grew out of hand, and with the aid of the woman named Evie, Dustin tried to escape. Unfortunately for him, Trent managed to subdue him and further questioned him.

A mercenary came upon the road, one who I have encountered before. A fight broke out between him and an orc some time back, and I stepped between a punch thrown by the man intended for the orc. I was knocked unconscious, and knew this man was quite strong when he approached us on the road south of Beregost. Dustin offered him ten thousand gold coins to intervene, and while the man drew his blade, I am fortunate he did not do as asked.

I have finally visited the small elven encampment. Jonas and Arivain asked if I would like to accompany them there, and I quickly agreed. A beautiful and lavish place it is. We sat around a handful of benches surrounding a soft fire. Saint Merielle, Siomir, miss Rith'alara and a woman who I was told was named Dajala were also present, and with this gathering small talk was shared amongst all. An overall wonderous experience. As we talked, Jonas took hold of my left hand in his own. I remember looking towards him with a smile as the two of us continue to chat amongst ourselves and those gathered. The night would soon end as Merielle grew tired and wished to rest. Jonas, Arivain, her and myself made our way north to the city.

Jonas and I stayed together for a little time, before he soon retired as well. It is now time I myself rest, for I feel the days approaching will be long.

I suppose it has been some time since my last entry, at least, I consider it to have been awhile. I have not been in the mood to write, and am unsure why, as I have always loved to. There have been a few new things that have transpired in the past few days, some of which are important while others are, factly, small details. First and foremost, by far the most important event I have been apart of is my resignation from the Order of the Morning Sun. I do care greatly for Trent as a friend, but he and I do not see eye to eye on how things must be done. He believes in the end result being good, caring little for the method in which it is achieved. I, on the other hand, care for both equally. What point is there to doing something good if you must commit an evil act to achieve it? Does that not taint the end result? And it is for this reason that I, unfortunately, resigned from his Order. Though he has said he will remain friends, as close as we were when I was in the Order. If not for that, the decision would have been much harder, though I believe I still would have done the same in the end.

Though I have left one Order, I have joined another. As of a few nights prior, I am a Knight of the Order of the Radiant Heart. I have not told Trent yet, but I do not believe he will be angered. It is my decision to join those I see eye to eye on matters closest with, for I do not have fear in my heart for what they might do to see the end result. They would do what I would do in such a circumstance, and it gives me a sense of safety and assurance that what I am apart of is for the good of these lands. I have not served a squire duty as of yet, and was rather glad that I did not have to do such here, though I would have without argument if I was asked. Jonas stated that he and sir Thiago spoke of my actions during the siege, using that as evidence of my actions, which allowed me to pass the rank of squire.

All of which has transpired in but a few days. Though, I have made a new friend. One whom I believe I will be able to trust, much like I trust Jonas and Trent. Saloria is her name, and with her she travels a companion, Mittens. Each time her and I meet, she allows me to hold onto him. At times, it begins to make me wish I had a cat of my own, though perhaps in time I will find one that I can have with me. I imagine myself as an old woman, sitting inside her house by the fire, stroking the back of her cat. The sight brings a few laughs to the air about me when I think of it, though I believe it to be a possible scenerio.

Saloria seems to be a good woman though. She has cared for my well being, even going as far as to offer herself to Randall in an agreement that he does not harm me. I saw her walking down the road with him following her footsteps, then watched as he made his way to the opposite side of the fire south of the bridge. She began to follow before I interupted, asking her what was transpiring. She informed me and I hastily intervened, asking her not to do so. It would pain me more to see those I call friends harmed, and even more so in my name. In the end she told him the deal was off, but I believe him to have selective hearing: choosing what he wishes to hear. And her revoking her end of the deal he chose not to hear.

Randall went south, and soon, Saloria went off to Beregost. Though we were informed by a letter strapped to the back of a small cat that Saloria had been knocked unconscious by a gnoll, and that the owner of the cat had seen Randall carry her off to his camp. As the group of us by the fire prepared to search for her, she came up the road from the south, stating the same had happened although she managed to crawl out of his camp when he was not looking. Siomir took to the south, and when we arrived behind him, he was in the midst of fighting Randall. Randall soon fell, and when he had fallen, Siomir... I am unsure as to how I am to put this, but he removed Randall's package, only to put it in Randall's mouth. As I turned in disgust, Saloria feinted behind me. Miss Cal'onna soon aided in her revival, as I helped her to her feet. Jonas then, as all was transpiring, took Randall off to Candlekeep. It was here that he decided his own fate, to be locked up again in the Fist prison. Though I grow tired and will not go into details of what was said.

May Lathander brighten the darkness before us all.

In but a span of a couple of hours, two enemies that I have had were dealt with. It is a sigh of relief to know that these two will not harm again, that I will not have to look over my shoulder each time I hear a twig snap, or a rustle in nearby bushes. It is a sigh of relief to know that the work I do is not in vain, that there are results. And such results bring a smile to my lips. Though while I am greatly relieved at the capture and defeat of these two enemies, I have also had to speak to Saloria regarding an action she did, yet again in my name. I can only hope that in time she will understand that the problems which concern me are to be my problems unless I ask assistance.

Let me begin from when it began. I had been in the city, attending to a few things before I would make my way to the festival. Unfortunately I had lost track of time, and began making my way to Candlekeep, although late for the beginning of the fair. I travelled as quick as I was able, although while being in plate, it was not as fast as others are able to travel. Soon I approached the gates of the keep, only to find Randall near the edge of a cliff, while Trent and another woman who I have seen many times, though without a name to put to her, were talking to him, asking of him not to jump. My first thoughts were as to why Randall was there, for he had been imprisoned by Jonas, Saloria and I but a night or two prior, and had been taken to the Fist prison in the city. Though he stands before me, now threatening to jump from the cliff and end his own life. As I took a few steps towards the doors, Trent noticed me, and shouted to Randall that if he still wished to harm Jonas, that I was there, on the road, and he need but turn around to do so. Before I talked to him about such, I was believing him to be serious, and quickly my hand moved to my mace. Though Randall did not move.

Instead, he made to jump, but was grabbed by Trent and the woman and pulled off the side of the cliff, before he made his way south. Saloria had approached me from behind, and as I made my way into the keep, she did not follow. I would soon find out as to where she went. As I approached the festival and took to Jonas' side, she again approached me from behind, though in her hand she carried the dismembered hand of Randall, claiming that he would not threaten me any longer. Jonas and I inquired into what had happened, and she stated that she had defeated Randall, only to make sure that I was not harmed again. I reminded her of what I had asked of her, to refrain from doing actions that concern a problem of mine if I do not wish it. But as I knew in my heart, Jonas informed her that we must take her to the Fist. I volunteered to do so, as Jonas had been enjoying the festival prior to my arrival and the problem that I brought with. I took hold of her sleeve, and dragged her gently behind me. We had made it but out down the path from the doors to the keep when we approached Randall and Mephitiri on the road.

They exchanged words, but not that of friends. Instead, Randall seemed careless for what she had to say, and soon she left his side, saying it was a waste to have raised him back to life. Though I am unsure as to why he decided to do such, he stood, and looked towards us, then the path behind us. After the exchange of a few words between him and I, he charged at me and attempted to grab me. I managed to shrug off the attempt, and pushed him back off me. Infuriated, he ran around us, blocking our retreat to the keep. Though as he did, Jonas came along, and soon stood between him and I. Randall grew furious at such, as he yelled in the face of Jonas words that I will not write, as I would not say them. But his aggression grew. Jonas saw such, and both asked and told him several times to lower his weapon, or to back down. But he did not, and instead, took a swing of his sword that knocked Jonas to the ground. I lifted my mace to swing at Randall, landing one hit before Jonas stood again, and soon the battle commenced. They exchanged blows, though in the end Jonas was victorious, and the limp body of Randall fell to the ground after a blow to his mid-section.

Saloria then burned the corpse, as we each lowered our head, before kicking his body off the cliff. I had hope for Randall, and had offered him several chances to change his ways, as had Jonas. But he chose his path, and his path was that of co-operating with evil. In the end, he chose his death by attacking Jonas, whom had offered him several chances to back down. He chose not to, thus choosing his destiny. Though we were not done yet.

Ian approached from the east, and with him Mephitiri. He stated she had come willingly, freely. Though as to why, we were unsure. Jonas did not hesitate to bark at her, informing her that she was to be taken prisoner, only to be held in the Candlekeep prison until the Fist came to claim her. She chose an attempt to run, but was swiftly brought down by Ian and Jonas, before Ian dragged her off to the prison. As I write this, I can only hope that she is there, or has been transfered to the prison in the city. And all of what I have written happened within but an hour or two of each other. Two enemies defeated.

It is time I rest, for the day has been long. As to what the coming days will have in them, I am uncertain, and only time will tell.

May Lathander shine light in the darkness before us all.

As to what I figured would be in these past few days, has come true. They have been just as long and tedious as the prior, perhaps more dangerous though. One whom I called a friend rose her blades to me and tried to strike me down, though I was able to evade and block her attacks and subdue her myself. There is also new events conspiring around Dustin. This may be the end of him, for within a couple of days his trial begins. I look forward to such, as the events surrounding him have begin to tire me.

Let me begin with the supposed friend. Tamina, who is better known throughout these lands as being the woman of Trent, asked to speak to me in private as I approached the campfire I both frequent and am at as I write this entry. We took to the west side of the road, where we began to talk, and as we began to talk she drew her hood up over her head. I took it as rather odd, but did not think much of it. She began to ask me if I had made any enemies recently, and I informed her that the two enemies that I had, Randall and Mephitiri, were both defeated within a few hours of each other, and Mephitiri being the only one still alive. Again, she asked if there was any possible way that Mephitiri could relay messages out, or if I had any other enemies. I shook my head to such, and she continued.

Claiming to have been spoken in whispers to from the shadows, she stated that she was to give me a message from them. I asked what the message was, and before I knew it, she had drawn her blades and sharply whispered "The message is to take your right eye." I quickly drew my mace, taking my shield from my back and fastened it to my forearm, then began to defend myself. I blocked and dodged her attacks, as I in turn landed several blows against her body with my mace, and soon she fell to a knee, wounded. I will not lie, I was furious. I attempted to knock her out with my shield, so it would be easier to bring her to the Fist, but she dodged my attempt. However, she came willingly, and I dragged her towards the prison. Along the route, she attempted to persuade me to release her, informing me of several things that I will not write, in fear that my journal may be looked into unknowingly and whomever it is that seeks me finds out what I know. It is little, but perhaps a lead no doubt.

Jonas then came up the road and I told him what had happened. He was livid at first, though I calmed him, or I believe it was I who calmed him. In the end, Merielle approached and Jonas asked of her to accompany me to speak to Trent, so that we may attempt to find out information about her. When speaking to Trent, he did not speak of anything, as Merielle said to me that she had not expected it to turn out any other way. Deep down I had expected Trent to tell me what he knew. I fear he is hiding something, something dark. What it is, I do not know. Jonas feels the same, that is for certain. Perhaps others do as well, though I do not know of any.

As Merielle and I returned to the area of the campfire, it appears as though Dustin had been poking the fire and disturbing it, and in doing so stirred something from within. A balor came upon us, but was quickly brought down by Jonas and others gathered. I believe Ivaris was amongst them. The battle soon took an odd turn, as a Djinni, or such as I have heard been mentioned about me, came out and asked for a servant. At first, Ivaris offered himself, but soon Dustin stood inbetween the two, offering himself as he was the one who had disturbed this Djinni. The Djinni soon disappeared, and a short while later, as did Dustin, whom returned with the Djinni. The Djinni claimed that Dustin had wished to become a master of necromancy, and spawned several undead beings about the two. Clouded in the darkess and in the fray of battle, Dustin ran north across the bridge but fortunately was pursued by Saloria and others. A few minutes had passed before the rest of us also persued, though we came upon Dustin whom was being dragged towards us by Saloria, who had him by a rope.

Little happened from that point, though Dustin disappeared again. When it was he came back, I am unsure. Alison seemed diligent in defending him, which was odd seeing as how quickly she had him apprehended at the campfire but a short while later. Although she did apologize to I, as we had argued and she had called me Trent. I will not lie, I was infuriated at the comment, and removed myself before I said something that I would regret.

I cannot believe that I nearly forgot to mention that my brother, Alan, has come to these lands. It was pleasant to see him at last, though since I encountered him in Waterdeep but a month prior, he has changed physically. On his way to these lands, he lost his right eye in a skirmish, or so I believe it to be what he said. I can only hope that my other two siblings make their way here. Time will tell whether or not they do.

Though I feel as though I may need to care for Gareut at this moment, who appears to be rather intoxicated.

May Lathander shine light in the darkness before us all.
