Nobility, titles and such

Unread post by Ghost »

A few weeks ago, the DM team decided to compile a list of current title holders and recognised nobility - as approved by the DM team. We also thought it was a good idea to design this list to give the players an idea of what sort of achievements can be made by active characters and what sort of achievements end in retirements. So after that decision, I have been digging through old records and asking old members, verifying with other members and current DMs and admins, and made a list. It doesn't include the sources here, as all of those are on the DM forums as results of decisions by the DM team now and in the past.

We also hope it will serve as a reminder of our rules on noble backgrounds. I advice reading the Unusual Characters section of our General Server Rules for more information.

The list, as it is, is stickied in the Dungeon Master Realms section of the forums, here:

It may not be entirely complete, as I am aware there are some old character I haven't quite been able to source or verify their status. And of course, the list is subject to updates as more players find themselves pursuing these sorts of achievements.

I have of course locked the list, but I will keep this post open - for now - in case there are any questions that should be addressed publically. I will lock it, however, eventually. I will also say that if anyone thinks there are characters missing from these lists, DO NOT POST IT HERE. Send the DM team a PM and we will look into it to verify.

Very interesting list, Ghost. Knew most, learned of a couple. What would be a great addition is to also add (whatever can be made public) exactly what each of those characters did, player side, that lead to being granted that sort of status.

It's not a bad idea, Kai, but would require quite a lot of work! I might look into it, though.

I've added a few entries, based on reminders by some players and verifications by DM team! Thank you, guys!

hmmm, I wonder if the same could be done for the server's customized spells and what the PCs did to craft/discover the new magic that got approved?

I asked in the RW forum what it would take for a character to craft a named item and never heard back. It would be good to know the process.

Great work on this, DMs. Anything that helps to recognize the accomplishments and achievements of players over the years is a good thing in my book! The NPCs are great, but the real heroes and villains of the story are all of our player characters!

You can google most of the names and add bgtscc and look into it yourselves. I didnt read all of them, but the few I checked were easily found.

Oh yes, but I thought Ghost wanted to consolidate all the information in one place.

Would be nice to see other titles on the Evil side of things, i see maybe two names there in total that are related to evil characters. And yes i know most of them are "Baldurs Gate" nobles but i mean wouldnt it be kinda neat to have well renown murderers and villains too?

Yeah out of the 35 listed I'd say at least half aren't good, and like ~15ish are evil. That seems like a fairly decent shake.

Evil is often retired when they reach their goal, but their goals are often monstrous and don't really fit within the PW dynamic. Hard to allow liches (unless we do the player monster thing!). A few more less-than-good nobles and stuff would be great, but I don't think its that out of balance with the playerbase.
