Factions on BG

Hello!

One of my big goals moving forward is a faction system for BG. To do that, I will need help actually building a list of what factions exist on BG! That's where you, the players (and DMs!), come in.

Please provide in this thread a list of all the factions you can name that exist on the server. This can be things as obvious as 'Flaming Fist', to more specific monstrous factions like, 'Nashkel Giants' or 'Undercity Undead'.

I can imagine that towns/villages/hamlets should be given their own 'faction' status. There have been and continue to be many PCs—my own included—that make an effort to sway the viewpoint of NPCs in such locales. Sometimes successfully, sometimes not. And this should be reflected in the "Faction Score" calculation towards...whatever it does, I guess.

Very true. I've unfortunately never (to my knowledge) made contact with the Thieves Guild but that's likely correct.

And this should be reflected in the "Faction Score" calculation towards...whatever it does, I guess.

On a serious note, I do agree with this personally. Allowing PCs to rep particular 'hometowns' would be an easy and efficient way to allow players to both belong to a faction and be able to still be part of the multitude of factions that they create, join, or leave on their own. So for example, Joe the Paladin lives in BG, which he's given a faction that he belongs to (BG - Citizen - 5000 reputation), and he happens to belong to the Order of the Radiant Heart as well as the Bladestone Foundation, for which he doesn't have a faction tag for.

In events, this would allow DM's to have allied groups together (such as maybe 'BG - militia' NPCs, or 'Kraak Helzak - citizen' PC's who Joe may have 1000 reputation with each) against common enemies (Trollclaw Clan, who has -10000 reputation with 'BG-militia', 'BG - citizen', and 'Kraak Helzak - citizen').
