I bought lantern and some torches and while they provide graphic of light they do not provide light itself at night!
Is it how all torches work here or have my elf had been cruelly cheated by a pesky human merchant npc?

Can you snap a pic? There is a bit of an issue with some area shadows that they are rendered "above" light so they still overshadow an area and it make it very dark even with light or darkvision.

Sold torches and lanterns are known to actually produce no light. Those found in dungeons seem to work correct though.
Can you please check torches from soubar? The barrel with them is very close to merchant, near caravan stables.

You need to drop it on the ground and pick up again, then it would work. Gotta do it everytime it stops working, but this is what temple of Ilmater has to offer.
