Every shape has something. For me the best all around is the werewolf. I am going to test something with the slime by stacking the %slashing DR. If the server 2 allows me to play that is

Just to expand on the shapes, there are as strong as you build around them. For example the werewolf with the multiattack and regen gloves, on top of the whole regen the shifter gets is silly. On top of the DR the shape has and Regen6 from epic feats. I got 11regen per round +vamp regen.

The slime is interesting as well. I bored of keep rcring since i dont not have the qc tools, but i was thinking of combining EpicDR9 + Fast healing III. Then the sime has 25% slashing DR. I have 2 items that give 10% slashing which will stack to 45%. Thats almost have the damage and then the DR9 should kick in ( icant remember which comes first). That way you deny a lot of damage and the rest you can out heal.

I wouldnt build around the ogre magi but is a good shape to heal out of combat with the extra 5 regen. There is shape that gives SR so that could be situational i think for dealing with valkoth forexample. I will test all those eventually

but 19 Will saves hurts, thats probably what gets you killed most often.

I agree, if you build around pixie and properly use sneak attacks and the 50% movement, you can kite down everything. Pixie might even dwarf Owl Bear

I wanted to test how the shapes perform against opponents with DR so I went 1v1 with the Balor. Currently only the werewolf can damage the balor and only with the use of lacerate. In the video below it was fairly easy - you might have to do a couple of laps to regain hp - mostly because of the huge regen. The +3 vamp regen gloves did nothing in this case since because of the DR the hits did 0 damage, so all regen came from fast healing 1,2,3, and the shifters regen ability. I think at the very least shifters regen can be removed or at most be left as 1regen at high levels but add the ability to inherit the weapon type from an equipped weapon, if possible. Any other balancing, depending on whether someone thinks that the shifter is too strong or weak, can be done by adjusting the stats of each form

I rcred my shifter to a build with evasion for Expose Weakness. In cases of DR the extra damage from EW helps.

Have you tried the Ogre Mage? Orbs of Force should be a viable attack against nearly anything, I think... albeit not as deadly as your creature weapons normally might have been.

TBH, I think the bigger issue is that there's no reason why a powerbuilder wouldn't want to grab the DR/regen feats. You don't need to take STR/DEX/CON because you're constantly shifted; you probably don't need a lot of skill points on most viable shifter builds, so INT is a non-priority; WIS is good because Will saves, but you have an easy path to Steadfast Determination, so might as well just take the 13-15 WIS needed for Natural Spell or level 3-5 divine spells; and CHA is a popular dump stat in the powerbuilding world. In that context, your ability scores are dictated either by RP, or by the feats you want to unlock... and with a class like this, building for every last kind of tankiness is an obvious pick.

One option might be to tie your SLA DCs (and/or cooldowns) to your casting stat. Another might be to reduce the effectiveness of the epic DR/regen feats when shifted, like the way matelener nerfed DM/EDM shifters. (This might also be a good way to bring CONlocks in line with the other warlock variants?) Either way, if it can be helped, I would prefer not to nerf everyone just to pull the powerbuilders down to a sane level.
