The Black Abbey RP

As construction continues within the Abbey, most of the rubble has been removed, the dark interior lit by numerous new sconce's and torches. Many faces venture down into the depths of the Abbey throughout the days and nights, some proudly wearing the black fist of Bane while others wearing simple robes and a skull faced mask. Templar guards remain stationed at the two entry points, not stopping anyone from venturing into the Abbey, instead those adventurers that venture down at the direction of Mags to clean are offered an extra pouch of coin for their services. At the mid of night, during the holy hour of Bane, visitors are instructed at entry to remain silent as to not interrupt the prayers of the faithful.

A man in black robes has been seen going to the abbey. Tall well built with grey hair and a grey trimmed beard. A note is left. "Greetings Vigiliator ive come from the dales to these lands and want to join the Abbey. Sincerely Joseph Keirgan.

After having purchased several sets of plate armor from a merchant above, the Vigilator can be seen making his way down into the heavily under construction Abbey with his newly acquired sack of clanking metal.

On the 12th of Eleint 1356 a gathering took place within the Black Abbey under Soubar. It's said a "diverse" group of followers of the Dark Three as well as the Maiden of Pain congregated for a ceremony within it's dark stone walls. Lead by Lord Imperceptor Vyshasa, each of the high priests/priestesses were called forth to give a brief but concise statement of their faith's purpose among the gathered mortals.

Lord Imperceptor Vyshasa spoke first:

"Bane rules those in life or will rule them if not yet. Tyranny is the only government for beings mortal."

With a call from the Imperceptor, Whipmistress Sorsha Komulov stepped forward:

"Yes, tyranny must rule the living, but what is tyranny without the threat of pain!
We shall see to it that its power work with those that rule!"

With a crack of her whip the Whipmistress stepped back and the Lord Imperceptor spoke once more:

"But pain can only motivate so much a mortal... Eventually, there is the state of the dead that comes for all of us."

The cold pale figure of Withering Lady Aliyaah el Myrkul yn Tulmon stepped from the shadows to the front of the pulpit.

"When the mortal dies or what they look to when dead is the domain of my master. Myrkul, the Lord of Bones rules those that have passed in cooperation with the tyrant of the living and the pain that moves them."

As the Myrkulite stepped back the Imperceptor cried out once more:

"I, Lord Imperceptor Vyshasa of the Church of Bane hereby initiate the proceedings to open this Black Abbey of the Dark Three and Pain."

As the various faiths announced their acceptance of the Imperceptor's decree, a series of awkward looks were exchanged among the faithful... Something or someone was missing... That is, until the Whipmistress spoke once more, a sinister smile across her face.

"But there is another, isn't there."

The Whipmisstress looked to Lord Imperceptor Vyshasa as he once more stepped forward, announcing the arrival of the final High Priest... High Matriarch Amelyssan the Blackhearted! Stepping from the shadows she spoke:

"Indeed my friends of the Dark and Pain, Death is the bridge between us all."

"I High Matriarch Amelyssan The Blackhearted of the Church of Bhaal will see to it that our faiths are bridged with the act of Death itself. And most nobly of Murder."

From there the ceremony continued, though none dare speak of what transpired following. However one thing is certain, the Black Abbey has officially been sanctified under the gaze of Bane, Bhaal, Myrkul and Loviatar.

A plainly robed figure enters the sacred halls of the Black Abbey. Humbly the figure pays respect at the altar of the Tyrant Lord...


...the Lord of Murder...


...and the Maiden of Pain...


...until finally, the figure finds its way to the altar of the Lord of Bones.


Bowed in prayer, an eerie silence fills the air.

A group of several individuals wearing black cloaks and hoods enter all together into the Abbey, acompanying a blonde pale woman.

They remain inside for a few hours before they all come out together and leave Soubar in a wagon.

An impromptu sermon is held within the Black Abbey, following which a patrol under Banite flags heads out to punish threats to Soubar.



Upon return, the group is seen dragging a gnoll within the Black Abbey once more, which gives up its life to Bane upon the altar. The carcass is left there for a time, its blood drying upon the stone.

Bloody sacrifice and fervent prayer take place within the Black Abbey, as Dreadmaster Morozov invokes the power of Bane to call back a soul to life.

Following the ritual, the gong is rung as midnight prayers of loyalty are spoken before faithful and visitors both.

A ritual occurred within the Black Abbey. Two faithfuls of Bane brought a baby to be blessed by the Vigilator and First Murder while Alxian stood guard at the door. Chanted prayers echoed through the cavernous halls. Shortly after, the parents left the chapel with the swaddled, cooing baby.

Vows were renewed before the altar of the Black Hand, the armored man who swore them entered the holy site as a Knight-Errant, and left the temple a fully fledged Templar, a Dread-Knight of Bane once again.

In the open ground under Soubar, Templars of the Abbey trained under the watchful eye of two veterans amongst their ranks. Harsh command were bellowed, strict training was implement, the Templars present would have learned of different techniques, although most of the training was physical, complimentary tactics, such as channeling the power of one's deity to shield them from harm or increase their own might were breached, as well as the use of fear in combat were mentioned, with further grueling sessions planned.

More lessons were given in the Black Abbey within Soubar, this time focused on fighting those who are magically inclined. The trained varied from means to disable a caster wards, to distractions with summon, and a demonstration. While the armored man who fought the witch lost his fight, the pair of senior Templars turned the defeat into a learning moment, focusing on mistakes to avoid, and strategies that the Dreadknight could have used to achieved victory. The trainee Templars were then dismissed.

Anyone crossing the bridge to the Abbey would find the Helmed Horrors barring entry to any individual not-sworn to the Abbey and it's gods. Upon descending the stairs into the main hall, the Abbey would seem... quiet, not in the typical auditory sense but in feeling. The magic glow of the fist upon the Altar to Bane is gone and his looming presence upon the hall appears to be missing. The greatest change however, is the large stone throne sat behind the altar appears to have crumbled to pieces, as if shattered from the inside. Slave Jownar and other initiates work to clear and hide the rubble as the Vigilator watches them with a stern expression. Bane has grown silent, a true test of faith, or a dead god, which is uncertain... But what is certain is that the faithful of Bane remain and to the outside world nothing has changed.
