Background:

Olesya, a wizard of Thay, was born of two parents who were themselves Red Wizards. Her mother being a headmaster in the Red Wizard Academy of Illusions. Since Olesya’s earlier memories, she was in love with the idea of magic and her biggest dream was to one day learn spells from the 9th Circle. Starting during her childhood, and on into her teenage days, she was schooled and trained by both parents so that one day she would wewar the red robes. Her parents, no stranger to the ruthless ways of the Red Wizards, would do their best to prepare her for the challenges and curriculum that would follow in her academy years. Olesya had no patience for politics or the pursuit of power unrelated to magic, her mind was always focused on learning new magic, spells, and arcane discoveries.
The high life of living in prestige came to an abrupt end in her late twenties, as the academy became embroiled in a coup by a rival family. Both her parents were killed in the power struggle, but she managed to escape. She was afforded a final tearful moment with her parents, whose parting words were of love, urging her to become free of this life, to escape it and their town of Bezantur. So she fled, travelling to far off places.

Olesya is a curious, but aloof wizard. Due to her natural inclinations and the circumstances of her parent’s being betrayed, and murdered, she has no interest in returning to life in Thay as a Red Wizard. Instead, she has spent her years refining her art, learning of the sciences, and studying the pursuit of magic. Her favorite focuses have been architecture, and the School of Illusion magic, and how they might be applied toward one another.
Her familiar, a threatening shadow mastiff, was discovered along the way of her flight from home.
Because of the cruelty and hardship faced in Thay, and her departure from that culture, Olesya has a distaste for anyone enforcing similar tyranny or seeking to climb political ladders for the sake of power.

She arrived at the sword coast following the stories of the war against the devils, and she believes there are plenty of secrets left to be uncovered by the remnants of that war.
