Deadly Defense

Hello,

The bgtscc description for deadly defense is:

Specifics: "You deal an extra 1d4 points of damage with any weapon to which the Weapon Finesse feat applies when using Combat Expertise or Parry mode. This bonus is only applied when you are unarmored or wearing light armor."

And yet when i look at he skill description whilst leveling my character, it also adds: "or using a shield"

so which is it?
does this work with shields or no?

(i plan on using a small shield)
