Appearance

Race: Human
Ethnicity: Ffolk
Sex: Male
Height: 5'10" (178 cm)
Weight: ~160 lbs (72.5 kg)
Emrys is a fair skinned man of modest build with brown, unkempt hair that is frequently covered by a worn cavalier hat. His blue eyes often dart about his surroundings with a curious gleam, and his lips are quick to curl into a small grin. When he speaks, it becomes apparent that he is not a native of the Sword Coast as his accent is a thick Moonshaean brogue.

His pockets and pouches are riddled with an assortment of scrolls, parchment, and trinkets - many seemingly mundane. Around his neck hangs a silver chain with an array of religious pendants as well as a small molar tooth.

Background
==============================
Hometown: Homestead near Dynatt, Gwynneth, Moonshae Isles
Birth Date: 16 Eleint, 1327 DR
Deities: Earthmother, Shaundakul, Oghma
Profession: Reader of Candlekeep, areas of expertise include Folklore and Planar Lore
Languages: Common, Waelan, Illuskan, Chondathan, Sylvan
Emrys and his twin sister Eirwen were born in 1327 to a family of shepherds residing on a modest homestead on the isle of Gwynneth a short ways away from Dynnatt. Emrys’s upbringing and younger years were quite humble, learning the trade of shepherding from his father whom he worked beside throughout his adolescence. However, in the year of 1345 when the Northlanders led by the Kazgaroth invaded the Isle of Gwynneth, Emrys, who was then eighteen at the time, left his homestead to fight in the Darkwalker War and protect the isle from the invaders. Having no real military experience, he primarily served as a runner during the conflict along with his close friend Aedan Kross.

Shortly after the war’s conclusion, Emrys’s twin sister Eirwen had taken her own life after the trauma of losing her first-born child. Through the loss of his sister and having seen his home ravaged from the war, Emrys left the Moonshae Isles as a desperate means of escaping that grief, ultimately finding his way to the mainland and stepping foot onto the docks of Baldur’s Gate.

Emrys resided on the Sword Coast for three years, within that time having joined the ranks of the Avowed of Candlekeep and befriending a number of persons including the Living Saint Merielle Silene prior to her canonization. However, the call of the Isles seemed to have never truly left the Ffolkman, and Emrys found himself returning to his native lands across the Sea of Swords.

Back on the Isles, his passion for his people and homeland began to surge once more. He fought in guerilla bands of Moonshaean nationalists with his best friend and brother-in-law Aedan Kross, fighting and killing the Ruathyn Northmen invaders that had usurped and raided the Isles for centuries - despite the peace treaty High King Tristan established between the Ffolk and the Northmen in 1347. After all, as Emrys would say, "The only good Northman is a dead Northman." For four years that continued until Emrys once again left his home of the Moonshae Isles and sailed across the sea to the mainland of the Sword Coast. He generally remains tight-lipped when asked about his reason for leaving the Isles, or otherwise deflects the question. Regardless of what the reasons may be, Emrys is where he is, and only time will tell what lies in store for his life on the Sword Coast.
