Re: Spawn Rates
Dear Valefort and Ged,
Please bring back scaling for AT LEAST the epic CR Areas (CR 21+).
Sincerely,
Steve
PS- spawn rates and XP cow areas are one thing, but scaling made the Server more fun, AND supports players in the Epic Levels, of which the Server has the least Areas available.

We're going to let things run for a month or so to make sure players have a chance to fully adapt to the changes. We have to understand the impact things have in order to continue improving.

Re: Spawn Rates
I've discussed these findings earlier with a few staff members and the Vanguard Discord.
Based on logs and a recently run cycle.
Old : 15:30 - 15:45 (15 Minutes) FGPoly+Arch : 55 kills, 11min Combat, 4Min walking, almost 11k XP an hour at peak XP, (closer to 9.8k for the hour accounting rest, rebuffing)
New : 10:52 - 11:07 (15 Minutes) FGPoly+Arch : 38 kills 7.6 Min combat, 7.4 Min walking, 7.6k XP/hr at peak XP (6.9 rest/rebuff)
With the scaling not being what it was it doesn't take long for kills to end up with 12 XP/kill for 1.8K XP/hr
Players will have to spend more time at their computer.

Re: Spawn Rates
Which area were you grinding for this? What level was your PC in each? I assume the build is the same? Were you partied up or solo?

For me it's not about xp at all - but the scaling did give players more choice were to go and made combat way more interesting.
And regarding the ziggurat, we just made another round there - the numbers of spawns are lower than before!

Re: Spawn Rates
Make scaling be a toggleable option that adheres to the player who picked the easier option present at the area.

Re: Spawn Rates
CR scaling made leveling tolerable. This particular facet of the change seems to be going over very poorly with the player base. It was obviously not such a minor edit to the leveling experience that it wasn't worth running by the rest of the team and the players who still log in on BG. Frankly, the change is awful.

Doubly so for builds with ECL, XP penalties, or worse, both, it makes a tedious progress take even longer, and it seem to be just a double slap to the face for those particular PCs

Re: Spawn Rates
Stop trying to powerlevel. Stop playing the game as if level 30 is all that matters.
That's a message to the whole community, by the way. I may not agree with Vale's methods (especially his decision to unilaterally shove his changes in at the last minute), but there's a deeper motive here that I can agree with. We have a cultural problem, in that many of us view "not level 30 yet" as not worthy of attention. Me? I get my best RP in the early levels, when everything is fresh and new and my PC is still making new friendships - not when their friends have either dropped off the face of Toril or rendered them utterly redundant in an adventure.
After nearly three years here, I only have one level-30 character, and she only got there because she was relevant pre-30. She didn't magically become relevant by getting that last XP tick. She had a clear place in the world, with friends, enemies, and a sense of purpose. As a freaking UDer, played by someone in the worst, least populous timeslots on the server; someone who has repeatedly been driven off the server by not having anything to do. I can't even imagine how much easier it must be when you can consistently expect to meet people every time you log in, or when you have OOC friends whose presence you can rely on.

Re: Spawn Rates
Many of the players were already 30 and wanting to return to 30 after a small adjustment to their build. They're not taking level 1 new characters fresh off the block, they're trying to return already existing, already roleplayed content of their character's abilities back to where it was and have to suffer through time wasted from a nuance. 30 isn't all that matters, but when you've earned 30 and want to correct a mistake or make an adjustment resultant of a new meta exposed to the server, then by all means you're entitled to trying to regain that 30 in any way shape or form. Many of these players don't have the same count of characters they actively roleplay by comparison to your alts. Had you spent the time collectively with your alts into a single character you would've been 30.DaloLorn wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 5:55 amStop trying to powerlevel. Do you even know him well enough to make that assumption of his play style? Bob's the opposite of a powerleveler, he's pretty much the type of RP-first player the staff is misguidedly trying to encourage.
When even non-powerlevelers are saying it's a problem, trust us that it's a problem.

It feels even less imperative that content be provided for the convenience of powerbuilders.Aspect of Sorrow wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 12:26 pm Many of the players were already 30 and wanting to return to 30 after a small adjustment to their build.

Re: Spawn Rates
And in my 10+ years here, I've had 3 levels 30, including one that started from 20 after permanently retiring my first one. What's your point? The build I am playing is decent but not overly strong, with a lot of its interesting aspects coming online at later levels, getting there is a right pain in the ass and I am annoyed at that fact.DaloLorn wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 5:55 amStop trying to powerlevel.
