The Inquiring Squire

Ser Althalous Fenwick' Squire, Alexander Holgart, can be seen frequenting the Temple of Torm almost daily.

The ex-mercenary inquires about Tormtar prayers, rituals and code with the clerics and knights of the Temple.

His interest seems to focus on three rituals of the Tormtar church: Torm's Table, The Holy Vigil and the Investiture.

The Praying Squire

Ser Althalous Fenwick' Squire, Alexander Holgart, spends a full day in the Temple kneeling in front of the altar in prayer.

He does not leave, he does not rest, he does not eat.

A seemingly neverending prayer asking for guidance and forgiveness to the Holy Triad after returning from a mission to the south.

Meditation and Isolation

Alexander can be seen discussing an upcoming ritual and trial with the local cleric, before asking for permission to use one of the side rooms to isolate and meditate.

For the following days the man would spend several hours meditating and praying, asking not to be disturbed.

The following litany can be heard:

"Blessed be The True. Praised be Your Name.

I seek Your wisdom to follow Your steps.
I seek Your courage to face Your enemies.
I seek Your resolve to face Your judgement.

Assist me in the fight against my own shadows and fears.
Assist me in casting away the uncertainty and doubts.
Assist me in my quest to find inner peace.

Let us bring the Light where darkness awaits.
Let us bring Loyalty and Resolve when the battle seems lost.
Let us bring the Word of the Triad to those who are suffering.

Praised be Your name.
Praised be the name of the Broken God.
Praised be the name of the Even-Handed."

=The Serving Knight=

The newly named Knight, Alexander Holgart, can be seen taking care of the Temple's Armory and helping Loyan Celwig with any duty and responsibility a Knight could take care of instead of a Priest.

Following the duties of the Tormtars he helps the Temple providing training, support and sanctuary to guardians, knights and loyal courtiers in the city.

He also observes and appraises anyone coming to the Temple perhaps in the attempt to find someone to recruit.

A new face can be seen kneeling at the altar of Torm lately, a very tall crimson-haired woman in adamantine plate. She speaks with Loyan Celwig for a good while about her purpose there, then begins her prayers. She visits the temple regularly for the next tenday, beseeching the Loyal Fury for his guidance in her atonement and to see her worthy of a quest to once more prove her worth as a paladin.

She would leave word with the Loyan that she seeks to speak with the newly anointed knight of Torm, Alexander Holgart, at his earliest convenience.

After each visit the woman leaves an offering on the altar of Torm before departing.

=The Knight In Ruins=

The Knight, Alexander Holgart is now recovering from a serious injury sustained during the latest battle with the Red Skull gnolls.

The Knight endures an injury to his right side, can barely use his right hand and is still not able to speak.

Despite everything those finding him at the Temple would see him serene, resolute, perhaps even better than he was before all this.

While his body falls to pieces his mind seems stronger.

=Seeking Answers=

The Tormtar Knight is seen coming back to the Temple after his watch at the border of the Cloakwoods.

He would prostrate before the statue of The True in an endless silent prayer, he skips meals and sleep to carry on in this endeavour.

Anyone approaching him trying to communicate would be ignored.

The Knight seems to be ready to see his body and mind collapse.

=The Supplicant=
A month later, Alexander comes back to bow down before the Altar to the Loyal Fury.

The Mute prostrate himself in a pose that makes him look like a servant asking for his Lord's forgiveness.

After an hour of silent prayer the Knight stands bringing his right fist to his heart, his expression shows sense of guilt and determination at the same time.

Alexander leaves the Temple and walks back to the Ilmatari Orphanage.

There is something different about him, perhaps apathy?

The Knight has stopped communicating in any sort of way.

Even gestures.

=A report for Loyan Celwig Olwyn=
The Sword of Torm, Knight Alexander Holgart returns to the Temple with a report for the Loyan.

It is said that a meeting was held among representatives and members of the local Triadic Faith, at the Temple of the Maimed God.

The Knight would say nothing more and would leave the decision on how much is to be declared public to his superiors.

=The Teacher=
Rumours say that the Sword of Torm, Alexander Holgart, is spending one day per week inviting the common folk for basic combat and self defense training.

From the young wishing to walk the path of Knighthood to the members of the City Watch seeking to bring their combat skills to a higher level, everyone is invited to participate or watch.

The Knight gives particular focus on the idea of fighting to defend loved ones, to uphold Duty and vows to the Gods. His philosophy is centered on learning the art of combat as a defensive tool, a weapon that one should never be happy to use but always ready to draw if Duty and Faith demands.

Any participants showing a tendency to use such skills to hurt others would be encouraged to change their approach or seek training elsewhere.

=Keeping Control=
The Knight of Torm can be seen leaving the Ducal Palace among others, presumably after a meeting, when the sun has already set.

He walks straight back to the Temple of the Loyal Fury and spends a whole night without sleeping before the statue of the Loyal Fury, in prayer.

His words sound like a repetitive chant, asking the Holy Triad to help him keep control and focus so Their will can be done.

A prayer to keep his mind free from anger, to keep his spirit above hopelessness.

=Knight and Apprentice=
The Knight of Torm returns to Baldur's Gate from a long trip, accompanied by Sister Ashenie and a young man.

The teenager joins the numbers of the Ilmatari Orphanage but he is more often seen at the Temple of Torm and by Alexander' side.

He can be seen taking part to the combat lessons held by the Sword of Torm but he does not leave like the others, it seems that this one apprentice has been taken under the Knight's wing for training that goes beyond simple combat.

=The True of Face of Corruption=
On the same day of Duke Entar's announcement, Sir Alexander would ask the Loyan to hold a speech right after his daily ceremony, to the few attending.

The Knight would face the people with a stern expression, looking at every single one of those attending in the eyes, before speaking.

"Strive to maintain law and order.
The Loyal Fury's Dogma, something dear to us Knights and faithful of Torm and the whole Triad.
We must believe in an orderly society, as Fairness and Justice thrive and flourish in the garden of Law and Order."

The Knight takes a deep breath.

"Law and Order is not the only thing that we value.
Stand ever alert against corruption. Strike quickly and forcefully against rot in the hearts of mortals. The Loyal Fury commands.
In this beautiful garden there is also something else that finds nourishment.
The seed of corruption, the disease that we must fight."

The Knight looks around the room with a determined look.

"The Triad, in its infinite Wisdom, gives us a way out.
As Torm commands: question unjust laws by suggesting improvement or alternatives, not additional laws.
We are allowed to question law and order when the disease spreads.
I believe, brothers and sisters... that the disease has spread long enough in this city."

The Sword of Torm clenches his fists.

"A chance has been given to the Dukes.
A chance to walk back on their dealings with the Zhentarim, alternatives and options have been offered.
The Dukes... and Duke Entar specifically, chose to ignore this chance.
He chose to bathe in the coins of the Zhentarim and not only that.
The Dukes chose to make it an act against this city to stop them, making their bond even stronger."

He raises his voice.

"Now before you all, brothers and sisters, I declare that I have lost the little hope I had for the rulers of this city.
I will relentlessly question their decisions as I believe they have lost sight of what it means to lead a city of the Lords Alliance.
I declare that I will not obey to their rulings as my only Master is the Triad and I have nothing to share with leaders such as them, not anymore.
They chose to side with the Zhentarim, and I refuse to join them on that side."

The Knight breaths deeply again before one last sentence.

"Think about my words, I am not asking you to take such a step yourselves, but please treasure my words as you go back to your homes and families."

=To a brighter future=
After a couple of days from the last court meeting the Knight asks to speak at the Temple again, after the ceremony.

"The Dukes affirm that there is hope on the horizon, brothers and sisters.
It seems that their ears are open to change, change for the better.
A positive outcome, a welcome one... but hardly enough.

Trust can't be offered again this easily.
We cannot rest, we must stand ever alert against corruption.
This is only the beginning.

The Loyal Fury demands as follows: Question unjust laws by suggesting improvement or alternatives, not additional laws.

And so we will.
We will need your help, this is not about me and the Collective alone.
This is about everyone who wants this city to rise from the ashes of decadence.

So I humbly beg you, stand ever alert with us.
Help us build a brighter future for Baldur's Gate.
If there has been a time to stand up and push for change, this is the time.

May Torm and the Holy Triad bless you all.
May we be enlightened by their Wisdom."
