In my opinion, should be be changed to a shortsword instead of a longsword.

He's a god of thieves and they tend to be dexterous individuals.

You can't finesse a longsword.

Shortsword makes better, thematic sense for thieves.

A weapon you could easily conceal beneath a cloak, use for backstabbing etc.

Why do I care?

I've an FS alt who has weapon focus: longsword and it's totally pointless as I'll never use longswords.

Except that the god himself wields two longswords (Stealthwhisper and Shadowblade), and indeed even takes the form of a longsword during the Time of Troubles I believe. Within the lore, it makes perfect sense.
