Custom portrait copyright?

Unread post by Domeq »

Just a fair question and discrepancy.

I noticed the server has many assets from other copyrighted games, like armor and models from Skyrim, Tera, Dark souls, etc.

Why is it then that we cannot use any art for our characters if the game world is already filled with copyrighted stuff?

You can.

Be prepared to credit the creator if asked, or better yet try to get direct permission from the creator for your personal non-commercial use.

Be prepared to take it down if asked to by the creator.

Don't claim the art belongs to you or was created by you if it isn't/wasn't.

It is encouraged to use artwork you own. Not required. It is only required to remove it if the artist explicitly asks you/us to remove it.

This follows the Cite Your Sources rule:
Cite Your Sources
When using other peoples' content in the server, please give proper credit and attribution to the original source. This is to ensure respect towards the creators for their work.
It is not possible to provide proper credit and attribution on an in-game character portrait. Ergo, the next best thing is to encourage using artwork you own, or else be ready to take it down if requested by the artist.
