Looking for RP/Adventure/group (EU timezone)

Unread post by Donny »

In a while, there will be some changes in my RL situation. While I don't know for how long it will last, for quite a while it will mean that I have more time and flexibility. That means I can put some more time and dedication in playing as well. So, here goes:

I'm looking for some avenues of RP / adventure for one of the toons in my signature, or perhaps a whole new toon. I'm also open for starting a group, and playing weekly. I am in the EU timezone, but as I said, will have quite some flexibility. A combination of the two is also fine (some avenues of RP for my existing toons, and a group with a new toon that plays weekly).

Bryce is level 15, Karl level 18 and Silence level 12. (for those that wonder)

Hello Donny, I might be available to play within your timeframe. If you could give me a bit of you RP backstory, that would help.

there are plots running ( zhent war and various aspects and themes around that) and getting involved might gather you a reason and a group that are interested in the rp generated. Level is nothing that matters to getting involved.

There are a number of background plots hunting down relics that can be pursued which might generate grouping and rp on a common theme.

Basic loot runs with some rp can be generated by organising a run by time and place on forum/discord/game.

These things might draw a group together with a purpose and is how many guilds have started too as they evolve to something sustainable and practicable. I think getting players is easier when a purpose is established and that may be basic bashing and building from there.

I always find it a bit hard to get into RP... Maybe I'm just not as sociable online, as I am in RL

Concerning RP backstory, I guess my bard Bryce Sawyer comes most natural to me, which is a chaotic neutral bard, diplomat and merchant. A true jack-of-all-trades, master of none. (though I'm more chaotic good, but I like to keep my options open ;-) )

But I appreciate the responses, thank you! I guess there's just a me problem in creating a bit buzz around my character, and reaching out to people to get the ball rolling. I always feel a bit hampered by my timezone (and my amount of time, but luckily that will change), but maybe that's just all in my head.

I've always felt many of the problems you describe, too. It's not just a you problem, and I've often suspected that timezone constraints are a potential hazard for European players in any online environment I've played in, since they had to be unusually flexible in terms of playtime if they wanted to get anything done. (I've never had anywhere near that level of flexibility, sadly. :()

That being said, your timing couldn't be much better. I just yesterday got the kick in the pants I needed to drop out of Ravenloft and return to BG, I'm European, and I've got a very diverse cast of characters to unshelve from, some of which might fit in with some of yours: viewtopic.php?f=153&t=69968

(Off the top of my head, I think Mainda/Anna might fit in reasonably well with Bryce, both thematically and mechanically, but it's hard for me to assess compatibility with Karl on any front except character level. I don't think I have anyone fit for Silence, and aside from Mainda, I'm not sure who else might work with Bryce.)

Glad to hear it's not completely a me-problem then

But that's great to hear! I'll try to put some effort into bringing Bryce back alive, and I'll reach out to you then! Maybe Bryce and Mainda could happen upon each other! ;-)

I tend to play the nights I'm not working, so I probably end up in the Euro and Aussie time zones. I run a level 16 solar channeler and a level 8 gold dragon sorc. If you run into me online (Isendel or Ilean), I'm pretty open to roleplay, grouping up for loot runs, or OOC shenanigans. See you in-game sometime!

Oddly, I haven't seen you at all since my last post, despite regularly being around in the late afternoons and evenings... Did I miss you (temporally - I did keep a close watch for your PCs, given your apparent absence on Discord and suchlike), or were you just not there? :|

Yeah, apologies. The changes in my situation will be in about two weeks. After that I'll be having a lot more free time.
I should've mentioned that...

I hope you can forgive me 0:)

It's okay! Just wasn't sure if you might have been playing while I was asleep (or at work, during the weekdays...), that's all!
