A thank you to Rhifox and staff
Staff and developers here on BGTSCC have taken a lot of heat over the past year and a half, starting with the loot changes, and now recently with the upcoming combat changes.
While I do not necessarily agree with all their decisions, whether from DMs, developers, or other staff, I still support and appreciate the efforts they put into the server of their own free will. They are not paid to do any of the work they do, nor do they get to recoup their invested free time at a later point.
Especially Rhifox has taken a lot of heat recently. They put in tremendous amounts of work for the server, in an attempt to get it to a better state. For people to, pardon my French, bitch and moan about it both here on the forums and on Discord, is, in my book, despicable and toxic behaviour towards someone doing so much for us.
As I said, I don't always agree with the changes, but I appreciate the effort put in. Because I can't do what the developers, and Rhifox, is doing. I can make suggestions, and try to offer insights as a player, but I can't work the toolset. Nor do I have the spare time to figure out how to use it.
So what could be done better?
Well, mainly communication. Providing a sort-of roadmap for changes, so we, as players, can get an understanding of the overall plan as it is laid out by the developers and staff.
However, and this is something I think some players tend to forget:
BGTSCC might be an MMO. But it is not World of Warcraft.
We don't get big rebalance and content expansions every 2 years. We get a trickle of each as they are ready.
We might want to get combat rebalance packaged together with monster rebalance. That would be ideal. But the effort required to do that is immense, and prone to a lot of errors due to changes to too many parts of the whole at once obfuscating where a fault might be introduced. We don't have the player-base to support a fully fledged public test server, where thousands of builds can be tested in thousands of scenarios to figure out exactly how the numbers should be before they go live. We have a small team of volunteer developers and testers, with limited time to work for the server. There simply aren't enough resources to have big content and rebalancing updates.
That's it. My rant is over.
To staff and developers trying to make the server a better experience for everyone. And especially Rhifox:
Thank you! I appreciate what you're doing, even if I sometimes disagree and complain.

I would like to second this. Playing in BG has been an absolute blessing so far with the times I've been in here, and its really just thanks to the free work DMs and Devs put into it. I won't be writing a paragraph, but man, just... thank you.

Agreed.
Disagree or agree with what they do, there is a lot that goes on with the Staff and stuff, 100% voluntary and totally on their own free time, which we benefit from and probably don't even know.

All the staff have been amazing and I’ve never been happier to log into BGTSCC. The Dm Team, developer team, mapping team, and media team have been doing top notch work in making the server feel alive and i am excited for what’s coming down the road. Thank you BG staff!

Very nice work so that we all can enjoy the hard work in the game (even supposed permabanned players)!
Thanks.

Thanks.

Awesome! Didn't know it existed already! Can we please get that as a stickied announcement? It feels important enough that it should always be visible.DM Ghost wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 3:30 pm Hear, hear! Rhifox is not only a hero, but a superhero!

It is. In Announcements and Community Information.
Maybe it should be set as a global announcement? I guess we can do that...
